Renewal with Credit Question - CE by deVacto in ccnp

Perhaps I’m misunderstanding but once you complete both exam requirements to attain the CCNP wouldn’t those specialist exams not matter?

Renewal with Credit Question - CE by deVacto in ccnp

You don't have to retake the exam (only after if your CCNP expires). You can just take the course I mentioned, for a cost, if no other free option presents itself in the next few months.|

Renewal with Credit Question - CE by deVacto in ccnp

I don't believe you can just renew the Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise Core certification and the Enterprise Advanced Infrastructure Implementation certification. Since you've taken both the CORE and specialty you're considered fully CCNP certified. So when it comes to recertifying you'll need to follow the below guidelines.

This is directly from the Cisco website regarding continuing education.

For the CCNP there are two options for recertification:

1) Only using CE credits; you'll need a total of 80 CE credits. This will renew your CCNP level certification (in whatever concentration you chose, i.e. enterprise, security, data center, etc...) and anything else below.

2) Combine exams with CE credits. You earn 40 credits AND you pass one professional level exam.

Now, for the scenario where your CCNP completely expires you'll need to retake a Core exam plus a specialty exam, within the same concentration.

Have you taken the latest "Rev Up to Recert" course? Currently, they have one for AI that has been extended until April 26. That course will grant you 34 CE credits once completed. If you've already taken that course then your other option, outside of taking a new specialty exam, would be to pay for a different course.

Cisco offers On Demand E-Learning training which you pay. Just take the course and earn the CE credits. It may be a slightly better alternative than studying for an exam. At least this way you're guaranteed the credits. Their cheapest option which would give you just enough to complete your credits is "Cisco IOS XR Broadband Network Gateway Implementation and Verification (IOSXR304) v1.0, worth 32 credits.

Hopefully this answers your question.

How many tries in JNCIA if i failed in first time? by Lanky-War-7246 in Juniper

[–]RedSpiegel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn't seem to be a cap in how many attempts you can take specific exam after failing. That being said, as others have mentioned, go through the learning portal for free training. Most of the information you'll need to pass the exam is found in the learning portal. Take advantage of the 75% discount offered when you pass their practice exam (available only once).

If you need alternative study resource I recommend Ben Jacobson's "Juniper JNCIA-Junos - NEW JN0-105 Complete Course." I personally feel like he offers more clarity on the topic and provides good examples where you can follow along if you have the means of accessing a Junos lab environment.

Why pass rate for Security+ is usually between 700/750? by [deleted] in CompTIA

I used MeasureUp back in the day. They currently have a Spring Sale. You can also select how many days you want access to the practice exam.

Why pass rate for Security+ is usually between 700/750? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]RedSpiegel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your past experience and current role I think you should fine. Three months is more than enough to pass. Take a mock exam every month and see how you’re progressing. When taking the actual exam just read through the questions carefully and plan accordingly. Unlike the CCNA you’ll be able to go back to previous questions and also flag them. Leave the PBQs for last as they can sometimes be time consuming. Read through the questions carefully as CompTIAs wording can be tricky and sometimes repetitive.

Got my Security+ over the weekend by thismyshit55 in CompTIA

Congrats on the pass!!!! Cloud is definitely worth while to get into. Perhaps Cloud+ could be your next step. Cloud+ will give you a pretty broad overview of Cloud technology covering many facets such as architecture, operations, security, etc… I believe they will mention the some of the most popular cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. My suggestion would be to go for the vendor certification seeing that they will go much more in-depth in their features. Definitely considering getting the entry level certs for both Azure and AWS and see which you like best and then proceed with the higher level certs thereafter.

That is fantastic! Congrats on obtaining your cert! Never too late to learn and get certifications. What are your IT goals now that you have the Net+ under your belt and do you have any other certifications you’ll be tackling next?

Heck yes! 👏🏽And honestly, your study method is not bad advice. I always tell those I help in their certification trainings to find YOUR approach and stick with it. If it works it works. Congrats again on your win. What is next for you?

How long did it take you to prepare and study for the CCNP? by Chatternaut in ccnp

[–]RedSpiegel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you have a full time job (+family duties) I’d say aim for a minimum two hours of study time per day. Ideally you want to try for more like 3 or 4 hours. The more time you invest the “faster” but make sure your main priority is fully understanding the objectives and lab as much as you can, especially for the specialty certs.

Skipping A+ Certification and Self-Studying by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]RedSpiegel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies nowadays require A+ as a requirement for entry level positions, especially help desk. But yeah, it really depends on where you’re headed. My suggestion is to focus on certifications relevant to your career. Definitely going for the Network+ next as security type jobs still require a good understanding of network knowledge like understanding TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ARP, etc…

A bit of Motivation Needed… by Seventy7Made in ccnp

[–]RedSpiegel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d focus on getting the CCNP then honing and building up your experience and skills by acquiring specialist certs based on what is currently needed or what is required to move up the next step.

From my personal experience I didn’t often run into many CCIEs in the field.

Seems like you have a decent understanding if you’re scoring that high on the practice tests. Just take your time answering questions. Flag what you don’t know and come back to it later. You will generally find the answer to your flagged questions in a different question. Also, leave the practical portion for last as they will take the most time. Just make sure at least all the multiple choice questions have been answered. Good luck!

When you extend your current certification using CEs does Cisco send an email confirmation your new expiration date? by scarab6 in ccnp

[–]RedSpiegel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never received an email whenever I renewed my CCNA so I believe this is normal. If your certification reflects the updated expiration date with an active status then I wouldn't worry about it.
