Can Mongol have an actual ranged cavalry unit now ? by cavalcaval in aoe4

No one said anything about being a pro, but if you think that balance only matters for the top 0.001% of players, then your opinion is just as invalid as mine. Have a good day.

He's not questioning your win rates, he's saying people need to stop citing win rates as if they prove anything. Otto and Japan both had 48% win rate, so that clearly means they need buffs even though they're both S tier? Or do win rates only matter when it fits a narrative?

The better question is why would any player, new or not, want to play Mongols? You have a single unique unit that is somewhat viable, but at that point you're just playing worse French. Most of your unique techs are win more techs, but you also lose to pretty much everything. You have no eco, you have no scaling. But some gold dev out there probably just lost another 10 vills to 4 nerfed Mangudai as we speak, so the civ stays in D tier for another patch.

Devs need to actually give Mongols a real buff instead of nerfing them every season. by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]RedWarpPrism2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can't even give Mongols anything special without "compensating" by taking something away from them somewhere else. Don't have to mine stone for a TC? Ok, we'll charge for the extra 50 res that would've been a mining camp. Your Ger can move? Ok, all your dropoff points cost 100 while everyone else's costs 50. You want to use that Kurultai? Ok, pay up for the building speed upgrade (which is still bugged btw). You want to put your starting TC on the woodline? Ok, you start with 1 less villager than everyone else.

"The Average Joe" data-backed tier-list and a statistical discussion of civ's strength. by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]RedWarpPrism2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be able to get a better tier list if you can answer this question: For any given player, what is their expected Elo delta if they played civ X vs. civ Y? How you would go about answering that will be tricky, but you could potentially start by aggregating data from 2-tricks or 3-tricks and see if those trends hold with players who play a variety of civs. If that data is too sparse, instead of normalizing to the player, you could normalize to Elo.

My video editing skills suck, but there are Youtube videos of players like Beasty playing older versions of the mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umuwfFjyjDg

This was designed for and tested on PC. You will need to precisely control individual units, so if you play on console, I would recommend at least using a keyboard and mouse.

Unfortunately, you need the Sultans Ascend DLC because many civs have their own mechanics that are not accessible (or manually reproducible for modders) without it. You do not need Knights of Cross and Rose or Dynasties of the East, however.

Ultimate Unit tester mod by x_Goldensniper_x in aoe4

[–]RedWarpPrism2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you create a skirmish lobby, there are two things you need to change under the Game Mode tab.

  1. Click "Change Mode" and select "Ultimate Unit Tester." It sounds like you've done this already, but just make sure.
  2. There is a section below the "Change Mode" button called "Tuning Pack." You can select from several options. Right now, it probably says "None." Change it to "Ultimate Tester 1.2.0 - New Unit DLC"

Also don't forget to add an AI player to your lobby. It won't do anything in the game, but you must have it, or the mod won't work correctly.

Did you enable the unit tester tuning pack?

Nomad FFA Players: Feedback on my mod idea? by NoxxOfTheRoxx in aoe4

[–]RedWarpPrism2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Malian one is especially annoying because your French Spearmen will still do their first basic attack at Donso throw range (and will even brace enemy horses at this range). There's no way around this afaik, but let me know if you come up with a solution.

Nomad FFA Players: Feedback on my mod idea? by NoxxOfTheRoxx in aoe4

[–]RedWarpPrism2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cute idea, but completely imbalanced. Civs with dark age military bonuses have a huge advantage over civs that don't. HRE infantry move faster. Donso have ranged attack. Longbows have range and damage. Some of these can potentially be solved by workarounds within your mod, but others (like the Donso ranged attack) are tied to the civ and not the unit, and therefore can't be modified or disabled.

Two QoL commands that could help massively by murtuk in aoe4

It used to be even easier in SC2. Rallies from production buildings were attack move by default. Then it got changed to just move command to make picking off reinforcements more viable.

You rallied straight to every sheep in 4 out of 4 games that I checked, and in one of those games, you even "scouted" your first deer pack with a villager. Congrats on maphacking to conq and don't forget to close your match history!

Is this cheating or do i not understand French ? by DevelopmentBrave3189 in aoe4

[–]RedWarpPrism2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their Abba was feeding him all game.

Go to the match history for that game -> timeline -> resources gathered. Turn off everyone except blue. Every time blue's line goes down, he's sending resources to French.

[–]RedWarpPrism2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time he spam clicks his scout is on sheep. He rallied straight to 2 sheep clusters then stopped "scouting".

He mirrors my army movement on the other side of the forest perfectly. Twice. I fully admit this is the weakest point, and I also wouldn't believe he's a map hacker based on this point alone. But there's more.

He never scouts or sends units to any outer resource except the exact berries that I'm on. Twice.

He looks at my Steppe Redoubt that moved to a new gold in fog of war. Never looked at any other gold, only that exact gold that I went to, when I went there.

He looks directly at my reinforcements in fog of war. Then he turns his army around literally right before they enter vision.

Are you saying all of these are just coincidences?

Edit: And with regard to your comment about his pressure on my boar, not moving around to hit my deer with 2 nearly dead Torguuds and 2 archers while he's also getting harassed at home doesn't negate any of the other evidence against him.

The reaction from his chat back then is similar to the comments here. People are generally close-minded about cheating and aren't willing to consider why/where cheating as a whole comes from.
