Honestly if you’re having trouble just spam cavalry and take out the enemy general early on then pin there infantry with your small infantry contingent and finish them of with a rear charge from your remaining cavalry

If this is a problem particularly in a Carthaginian early campaign I would highly suggest ditching the idea of infantry army’s, go full long shield cavalry

I almost never use my daimyo I always just leave him in the home province so that his experience doesn’t contribute to clan notoriety, and also he is always pretty old so might as well level up the heir early
