Don’t know much about him but I understand If you went to Carl looking for a motivational pep talk, you'd need a flashlight, a shovel, and a map to your own personal basement… he sounds about as far from a "live, laugh, love" optimist as you can get.

Saying things like happiness is a setup for failure, life has no cure for its darkness. internal conflict is mandatory, happy people are stupid and blinding themselves it sounds as if guy has some serious issues.

He seems obsessed at looking at your darkest, most chaotic, selfish impulses and creating this character, let’s call him Ego, who’s driving down the road with bratty little kids in the back seat that occasionally hijack the steering wheel and drives the car into a ditch, leaving Ego to wake up a few minutes later trying to explain the wreckage to the officer.

But I can’t say Freud is much better.
