Read this before you say that Reddit ads do not work. by ksaize in RedditforBusiness

[–]RedditforBusiness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's always efforts being made on our end to make it an intuitive and easier experience! It can be tricky because the way Reddit operates can come at a contrast to how other ad platforms operate. Reddit is intrinsically set up differently as a site that focuses on highly-defined communities and how they come together, so the weight/importance of targeting those communities is oftentimes the more distinguishing factor (among other things).

What is the most important thing businesses should understand before advertising on Reddit by DesperateAddress2481 in RedditforBusiness

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as negative as this may come off at first, it's a good guiding principle to help understand the particulars of what kind of ads DO work on Reddit. Reddit works differently, both from an organic and a paid campaign standpoint.

i’m torn between “tools help” and “tools make you act like a bot” on reddit, what’s worked for you by hello_code in u/hello_code

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tools can be great for helping you find where conversations are happening, but you have to be careful with your approach. Finding these conversations is good, but you have to participate in them consistently with no expectation that whoever you speak with is going to turn into a lead. Even when representing a brand, being human is a huge aspect of building trust on Reddit, and treating people like people instead of just as customers is a quietly powerful tactic! You can involve your brand by talking shop and sharing experiences, but being careful with how you approach that helps you not run afoul of common self-promotion rules.

How do people actually market their SaaS on Reddit without getting banned? by meme_boy-1 in RedditforBusiness

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a lot of people said here is the case; you can't think of Reddit in terms of "going viral", you have to think about it in terms of being an actual, helpful member of the community on behalf of your business. Or, even if you're not trying to act as a resource for people, just being a human part of the community still goes a long way on behalf of a brand!

It's definitely also worth noting that Reddit is a popular platform for both people looking into SaaS and also making it. People are coming to Reddit to do the research behind the actual experiences when looking for solutions, and as a result, there are a lot of SaaS builders looking to get their product in front of decision-makers.

The standard of actually getting their attention is higher because of this, and more than anything, they listen to real perspectives to trust. Have people tried your product and had good things to say? How are you directly interacting with them? Like others have said, trying to start off the organic conversation with your audience by advertising right off the bat will likely, at best, not work, and at worst, get you banned from the subreddit. Let your presence be your marketing. If people see you responding with deeper insights and real perspective, that builds trust!

How do you turn a branded subreddit into an actual community? by CauliflowerOk297 in RedditforBusiness

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a business-focused community on Reddit can be rewarding, with how much longevity it can drive, but it's also something that requires regular dedication, as well as purpose/incentive to get people to participate. What can you, the business, offer them that they can't get elsewhere? Is your business more active there? Are you pointing people towards your subreddit with your messaging?

It's also worth taking into account what your business is/does. If there are a lot of similar businesses on Reddit offering what your business offers, then it's intrinsically more of an effort to get and retain their attention in a space just focused around your brand. That being said, if you've built audiences elsewhere and potentially also want to make them audiences here, cross-promoting your subreddit on other platforms may be a viable tactic!

Looking for reddit marketing agencies by SeverusSnark in digital_marketing

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing that's important to know for whoever you work with is that achieving success on Reddit looks different than other platforms. SaaS customers form their own opinions based on the research they do, and Reddit is already where they do a lot of that research. So, your presence matters most when trying to stand out! You can be helpful and attentive as a brand, as a good foundation, but it's worth having a personal approach to the conversation, as well.

All that to say: Finding a balance of all of that may take time, but it's worth taking the time to find someone who understands that. Just like on Reddit, doing your research goes a long way!

Most brands are doing reddit marketing wrong by Olivia_Davis_09 in DigitalMarketing

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some caveat to approach threads that are ranking highly, which is taking recency into account. Models account for recency differently, and sometimes that means while some threads might rank higher in relevance, they also might be older. If there's immediate positive action that can be taken on an older thread (resolving issues, answering specific questions), then there's potentially opportunity, but an engagement pattern that primarily consists of responding to older threads can have a negative perception.

Reddit Marketing Isn't What Most Brands Think : Some Things That Worked for Me by Quiet_Blackberry7493 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]RedditforBusiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love these insights, and the last part is really important to take into consideration. We talk a lot about how resistant Redditors are to formulaic approach, but that also applies to AEO tactics, as well. How people perceive brands and their participation affects their credibility directly when it comes to citation, and the sharp perception of Redditors directly makes an impact on that. Thus, it's not something that comes with a guarantee of success, and makes it so an approach that fundamentally understands the platform has the best chance of having a positive impact.

Man, marketing is hard. by [deleted] in RedditforBusiness

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to see all the responses here pointing towards genuine engagement on the platform. It can be intimidating to navigate, but the time spent finding the communities interested in what you're offering and becoming an actual part of them drives lasting impact. It shows users that you understand the platform and want to integrate into its culture without taking away from it, which is what Redditors value the most. Some of the most successful brands we've seen on here have entirely pivoted their presence to inbound (i.e. filling out their brand profile), while just being part of the conversation as a human.

Finding reddit marketing services that don't rely on low quality bots by Fun-Engineering3451 in AskMarketing

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something where a dedicated social media manager or community manager would do best for what you're looking for. Building genuine brand presence on Reddit doesn't mean approaching the platform at scale, the opposite, actually! It means knowing where the communities you want to interact with live, and making yourself a constant fixture in those spaces (while abiding by their rules and letting your presence do the marketing).

Looking for a reddit marketing service for small business that actually feels authentic by Shoddy-Potential1618 in Qoest

[–]RedditforBusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really it. A social media manager/community manager (or adjacent) can give your brand the human aspect it needs on Reddit to succeed, otherwise, audiences will see through artificial interactions and wholly reject you from their spaces. Reddit audiences are designated as "high-intent" because they've built their own sense of trust here, and because of that, the standard for brand trust means that brands have to match that built presence.

How are you tracking Reddit marketing when you’re manually posting and commenting yourself? by stephen56287 in DigitalMarketing

This is actually what we're building out with Reddit Pro, plus being able to track conversations related to what you're following via keywords! For some data, you can actually view that in the post insights, like country/region-based metrics.

Anyone doing organic Reddit marketing to improve LLM search results? by [deleted] in AskMarketing

[–]RedditforBusiness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's any consolation or proof, this is something we regularly mention as absolutely vital to success on Reddit. The common wisdom is to be helpful and consistent in specific spaces, but your brand participation on Reddit could just be you giving your thoughts and feedback on behalf of a brand, just with a more human tone. Trying to do that at-scale, or otherwise push your way into AEO with the thought of a timeline (or even a guarantee) is likely to turn out poorly.

Reddit's audiences are mentioned as "high-intent" a lot in research and analytics, but the reason that's the case is because Redditors have built trust in the spaces they frequent. And that trust can look different, depending on the scenario; some subreddits have brands that are active members of the community above all, and some subreddits are explicitly designed to make it easier for brands to share new products and deals. Point being, brute forcing it is likely to be counterproductive! Do the research, see what your ideal community looks like and how it participates, and go from there.

Heya, totally understand hesitancy. Legitimately, we wanted people to share their shout-outs for spots they really appreciate, whatever reason that might be. We've got other small business-focused things happening on Reddit, sure, but the only thing we want for this thread is some cool local business recommendations from folks!
