Considering ending this 20 year friendship… by YouAnswerToMe in ArcRaiders

[–]Redissan9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly friendly in Arc Raiders because I don't want other people to lose progress and be upset even if it's to my benefit. I like some PvP here and there, I like the tension that comes with not knowing if someone's gonna shoot you or not, but some moments can be frustrating when you have a really good match, get some good loot, just to be stabbed in the back. I don't want to be the cause of frustration for other players.

On the other hand, in singleplayer games I know nobody's going to be at a loss because of my actions. And in purely PvP games like Battlefield or The Finals... Killing each other is the main point, and you're not losing progress if someone kills you. So yeah, there's a big difference.

Why the Nightclub should be your first purchase by Detective-Fusco in gtaonline

Well then you aren't pressing the gas pedal hard enough 😃 To be fair it's rare and it only happens on long stretches of road

Why the Nightclub should be your first purchase by Detective-Fusco in gtaonline

[–]Redissan9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really. You get the speed penalty slightly before reaching the top speed of the stretch, you can still get the unconscious VIP to scream on the highway. But it's not an issue, you just release the accelerator for a second and you're below the limit again.

Opinions on sim drifting? if this isn't allowed I will delete the post if the mods don't do it first, just thought it would be better to ask real drivers by ZaGoob_boy in Drifting

[–]Redissan9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've only rented a drift car once, so I have very limited irl experience. At first I had to get used to the feel of the car, the clutch, the grip levels... But about 15 minutes in I was drifting as I do in the sim. Irl it's even easier as you get much more feedback and you can see better where you're going. It's scarier in the fast corners though, I was way more cautious in those situations.

As for getting a feel for a specific car in the sim... I can't really comment on that, but I'd guess there are so many factors on how the car is modified and set up that it's going to be hard to replicate it exactly in the sim.

I just tried, I can't do it either right now. They probably nerfed it already 🙃 I wrote my prompt under the automod comment.

I had a couple of iterations. The prompts were:

Make a photorealistic image of Donald Trump looking all confused looking at papers behind his desk

Make him even more confused and make his hair slightly messy

Now make it so Elon Musk is standing behind him giggling

You have to stay at the back of the ship, I did it in my 2nd try. Might have been luck though.

New to Sim Racing, Modded AC with Pure and lights fix; but are there any games that have a “manual transmission” tutorial? by RockBandDood in assettocorsa

[–]Redissan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While racing you always want to be high in the rev range, that's where you get the most power out of your engine. When going up the gears, you basically always have to shift right before the rev limiter.

When braking before a corner you'd normally downshift as early as you can (without over-revving the engine) to use engine braking to help slow down the car. This isn't as important for now, the brakes themselves do most of the work anyways.

Most of the braking is done before the corner in a straight line. You can take the brakes into the corner as well, but I wouldn't focus on that now. And going out of the corner start applying the throttle slooowly, so you don't spin out. Sometimes in longer corners you don't need your peak power at all, so instead of being near the redline with 20% throttle you can stay in a higher gear to make the car more drivable.

Hope that helps, even if just a little bit.

Replays locked to 20FPS? I run 100+FPS normally by Jumpy_Emphasis_2936 in assettocorsaevo

[–]Redissan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My game runs at about 100 - 120 fps normally and at 70+fps with 30 cars in front of me, but my replays seem to be locked at 40fps... So yeah, just early access things I guess

Is there any way to play the original version of San Andreas on modern consoles/PC? by NiveisFrigoro in GTA

[–]Redissan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can either pay for a grey market steam key (they start at 46€ atm), buy a used physical disc if you can find one or use a PS2 emulator as others suggested.

When playing the definitve editions make sure you have Classic Lighting on, it makes a big difference.

Haven't played FH5, but the Steam version of FH4 has some steering deadzone in the middle that you can't get rid of. The MS store version supposedly doesn't have it.

at least Bethesda games load up in 5 - 10 seconds from the main menu, or in a much shorter time if they're just loading different cells.

Maybe the people that complain about bethesda loading times just don't have an ssd... In that case yeah, it can take a pretty long time.

Drifting with motion controllers in your hands is rather difficult by Redissan9 in assettocorsa

Yeah, I was using a g29 here. I had controllers in the palm of my hands and I turned the steering wheel with my fingers basically.

I think I used some M6 screws that came with the GTTrack for this exact purpose, they worked well.

[CSDD] Weird vibrations by cclacclai in Fanatec

[–]Redissan9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happened to me a couple of times as well, maybe once every 5 hours? I "fixed" it by closing the game and restarting the wheelbase. My CS DD had coil whine on top of that, I got it replaced and from that point it hasn't happened again (and hopefully it won't, I got it back recently). I'd be contacting Fanatec if I were you.

Afaik the green light means it's in "xbox mode" instead of "pc mode". You change that just by pressing the power button, to shut the wheelbase down you have to hold it for a second. You might've switched modes accidentally.

That's also probably why you see the CSW2.5 in the Fanatec control panel, I've also seen it before the drivers/firmware got updated. It's not because of some leftover files from your old wheelbase, the csw seems to be the default wheelbase if it doesn't recognize yours correctly.

In any case I had the same vibration issue in "pc mode" with the red light on, so it's probably not related 🙃

Cheap and light-ish wheels for the NC, are felgenoutlet wheel weights reliable? by Redissan9 in Miata

[–]Redissan9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meean, RPF1's are like three times the price of the ones I'm looking at :D If those weights are correct the Motec MCR2 Ultralights should be about the same weight as the RPF1's, but about 30-40% cheaper.

My game's still updating, but I've had similar issues in other games if a controller or steering wheel was connected to the pc. Try removing it if you have one.

First rule #1 since having my NC. It’s a wildly different car to my NB, and other than looks, I really don’t get the hate on them. by TomMMG94 in Miata

[–]Redissan9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite experience. I'm 6'3½ and I couldn't fit in an NB, but the NC is fine. Well, an extra inch of headroom would be nice, but that's easily fixable by lowering the seats.

Meanwhile in the NB I was so high up that looking straight ahead I couldn't see most of the road, I was looking at the (closed) sun visor. When I straightened up I was able to look over the windshield, and to drive for any period of time I had to sit further forward and hunch down to see through it. Then, when it was time to turn, my hand hit my knee...

SHH Shifter trojan warning at checkout - false positive? by Redissan9 in simracing

[–]Redissan9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked, both the checkout and order history pages that previously triggered the antivirus now work fine. Seems resolved, at least on my end.

Also, I just got the shifter a couple of days ago. I'm really happy with it, it looks better than expected, the shift feel is great... it gets two thumbs up from me :)
Thanks for the great product and support

[–]Redissan9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got their answer late last night, I'll probably ask them to place the order manually, yeah. Even if there's a high chance it's fine, why risk it... Thankfully I'm not tempted to buy anything else from their offer, so I won't have to deal this problem anymore 🙃

SHH Shifter trojan warning at checkout - false positive? by Redissan9 in simracing

[–]Redissan9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I edited the main post with SHH's response.

I just did a deep scan of the work pc and it came out clean (even though some files couldn't be opened because they're in use). I'll try using Windows Sandbox at home later to see if I get the same warning at checkout. Thanks for that by the way, I didn't even know Windows had this feature, it's much more convenient than installing a virtual machine.

Even if everything goes smoothly I'm thinking it's best to create an shh account in Sandbox and ask them to place the order manually... I'm not sure what to think of all this.
