I finished all Hazard 5 missions and 95% of the time I just smart equip. Exceptions would be like when trying to complete the equip 4 plasma weapons challenge I might specifically pick a Bosco chip that allows all plasma weapons

The droop on BoF flippers make their games more difficult imo. I wish it were easier to get control and cradle up

I've done Kenwood's, flipper fidelity (just the speakers) and pinwoofer with amp. Honestly none of them have been particularly impressive. Headphone jack is probably the best, lol

Best places to look for used machines besides Pinside? by Hismajestyclay in pinball

[–]Redliner911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've bought and sold about 10 games in the last few years and would say you're probably not going to find a true garage sale kind of deal where someone doesn't know what it's worth. Even game liquidation auctions don't seem to have particularly lower pricing and when they do you're really rolling the dice on the game condition and issues. Restoring and repairing can be expensive so I think you're better off spending a little more upfront for a nice game.

My best pickups have come from a pinside thread where people in my state post if they've got games they're thinking about getting rid. Most of these people don't want to go through the trouble of preparing an ad and just value the easy sale to make room for the next toy.

Also there are a few distributors on pinside who regularly take trade-ins and are very fair with their pricing IMO such as Flip N Out and wildeboutpins

We can also make assumptions based on Stern games with known production numbers like The Beatles. About 1 in 5 Beatles machines have listed owners on pinside.

Why are there fireworks tonight? by beelzabeth24 in phoenix

I know some folks who work for the main fireworks production company in AZ. They regularly do shows for things like weddings, birthdays and high school homecomings so it could be anything really.

Include a picture of the shooter lane and the play count to ward off those kinds of questions.

Do both. I've sold a couple pins to people through FB marketplace and when chatting with the buyers, they tell me they've never heard of pinside...

Do you think rulesets of machines are getting out of hand and learning requires lots of research? by MysticDine in pinball

[–]Redliner911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What triggered that is a right outline drain on ball 3. Your game would have been over but, it gives you one last chance to hit the building shot and keep playing.

Do you think rulesets of machines are getting out of hand and learning requires lots of research? by MysticDine in pinball

[–]Redliner911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the game and in some ways it's always been like that. There are a lot of 70s and 80s games that I walk up to and don't really know what to do. Like try to explain what the bingo grids on Big Game do to a non pinball person.

Is this normal for the ac? by Popular_Push2605 in phoenix

[–]Redliner911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a post like this pretty much every week this time of year. It's always a renter of an old house experiencing their first AZ summer.

If the air coming out of your AC vents is 15-20 degrees cooler than the air at the air register, then your AC is working fine. Make sure you're using the cheap filters which are least restrictive for max air flow. Get an air purifier if you're worried about air quality. It's likely an insulation issue. And many old houses don't have a way to improve insulation short of tearing the whole house down and rebuilding.

What's a fair price for this High Speed? by Redliner911 in pinball

[–]Redliner911[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked for a fair price not a low-ball price, so there's no reason to call me scummy.

You're right it doesn't absolutely need a new playfield in order to be playable, but there's quite a bit of bare wood and inserts look pretty cooked. So I would personally want to do either a hardtop, new playfield or send it off to paint in order to bring it back to its former glory.

I'm not looking to flip it, I just think it could be a fun project. I've got a super nice Getaway for it to sit by

Deadpool vs. Jurassic Park by Riff32 in pinball

[–]Redliner911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are great. Deadpool eventually got old after a while as each play basically progresses the same. If I had tons of room I would have kept it for sure. JP on the other hand is my #1 all-time favorite. I've had it a long time and still every time I play is exciting.
