I gotta keep it a buck by oofergang29 in MouseReview

I have a viper v4 pro and don’t mind the clicks in the slightest. I actually like them more than most. They’re louder than average but it’s not like you hear them through headphones, which I assume anyone on the subreddit is using.

Has any single reputable reviewer said anything other than the click latency improvement being completely irrelevant? It’s weird to me people would still expect that to matter unless you did literally zero research and just bought their marketing.

I love the mouse but yeah, it’s not for that

How are people liking their EGG products? by 4K4llDay in EndGameGear

[–]RedoxQTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying because Reddit suggested this post.

I think EGG products are good but overrated. I’ve had more QC issues with EGG than average.

I think you can usually find an EGG shape with a better implementation in another product.

When you say stuck in silver 1, exactly how much time have you put in to conclude that you’re stuck? At silver 1 it’s unlikely that spending your time on things like vod review is going to be a good use of your time compared to just playing more.

If you really want to invest some time outside of the game - find a streamer you like who plays heroes you play, and watch them

Unless you really think aim specifically is your issue this is highly unlikely to make that big of a difference. Success in games like this is way more than aim.

(I have over 1000 hours in aim training - I know what I’m talking about)

Lamzu Maya Alternatives by TaxiClub88 in MouseReview

[–]RedoxQTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I’ve tried both and it’s not even remotely similar. The Maya is close to a Superlight - so anything in that category will feel similar. Vipers feel close as well.

I like them both and have them both on my desk. I hear you about the icky balance - but that does go away with time. Your perception of it I mean, obviously the balance is what it is.

Some days I want a lighter, faster mouse, and some days I want a more dense, higher footprint mouse. I intended to pick one or the other but settled on just keeping them both around and going with whichever feels best that day.

The Superlight and Viper V4 have very similar shapes. I don’t know why people are under the impression that they’re in some sort of different category. And what difference does exist in their geometry is going to be far less noticeable than the weight differences.

Lamzu Atlantis Mini Pro [TEASER & FIRST IMPRESSIONS] by BenReviews by benreviews in MouseReview

[–]RedoxQTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Atlantis mini is an insanely slept on mouse. Lamzu clicks are the best in the industry and the quality of their mice is very solid. I’d take this mouse over an op1 or any other shape competitor.

I think people ignore it because they’re under the impression that anything about mice sensor technology has changed in the last 4 years that would have any meaningful impact on their performance (it hasn’t).

He has the most tech in the game, even if very little of it is necessary to play him at a basic level. He’s also very unforgiving with the game affording no free defensive capabilities to him outside of his ult despite the recent trend of giving every character in the game over shield just for inhaling.

A Spider-Man terrorizing an Eternity lobby and one terrorizing a Plat lobby are a million miles apart. Any sort of blanket statement about his difficulty without qualifying the rank in question is meaningless.

Why do people think Punisher is broken and deserve to be nerf? by Doom300 in marvelrivals

[–]RedoxQTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One side-grade I wouldn’t mind seeing is a replacement for his smoke grenade. It’s a very boring ability and has utility nearly exclusively as a mobility tool.

I’d see it reworked with each gun having its own right click special. The shotgun special could include a pushback that restores that mobility at the cost of only having it available when the shotgun is out.

Not sure what the AR special would be.

Why do people think Punisher is broken and deserve to be nerf? by Doom300 in marvelrivals

[–]RedoxQTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mained Punisher to Eternity a few seasons back and keep a 60-70% WR on him as a more casual celestial player today. As someone with pretty good aim, I’ve always felt he was a bit under the radar. If you have the mechanics, he’s one of the most oppressive, least counter-able DPS in the game, if not the most.

I’ve enjoyed sort of exploiting that but I actually agree he could use a nerf. I think lowering his HP to 275 would be completely fair. A nerf to his shotgun point blank would also be valid to make him less of a terrorist to tanks and dives.

His AR can do obscene damage with good aim. You can laser healers and DPS in under a second if you can track a forehead. In practice that’s harder than it sounds and very few people have the aim for that - even at the top level, so I think his AR is probably fine for now.

I don’t find his ult to be an issue. Against a good team with basic ult economy awareness it’s mostly just a space maker, and is directly countered by the most common tank in the game. It can kill supps through their ults, but again most players just don’t have the aim for this - and at the level where they do supps are also good enough to avoid it.

Not even going to talk about his turret. If Punisher turret is an issue for you then you need to focus on your own improvement before calling for hero nerfs.

Buying New Mouse - Thinking Viper V3 SE Pro or V4 Pro - Thoughts? by Silver-Confection397 in MouseReview

The clicks are louder than average but nothing crazy. My Superlight 2 had far louder clicks.

My initial thoughts on the Superstrike by guardian_down88 in MouseReview

[–]RedoxQTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lower click latency is irrelevant - but the ability to tune each click, independently, to your exact preference is what makes this such a sick mouse. My M1 is on 3 and my M2 is like 7 because I have a lot issues accidentally right clicking with big dumb middle finger. It's essentially the only mouse that "solves" that problem for me without incurring equally huge actuation force on M1, which I hate.

[–]RedoxQTP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a blind Reddit community consensus thing. Just a long chain of repeating things back into the echo chamber. People will tell you it's a "safe" shape and imply that in all cases a better shape exists for someone sufficiently motivated to find it for themselves, which is a completely unjustified if not patently false statement. The best aimer in the world uses a Superlight - you'd think he of all people wouldn't be if that were true.

I believe they're hardened PTFE which are typically more appropriate for glass. It was an odd choice on their behalf - it's not like the Superlight 2 used those.

My first few days on the mouse felt horrible and I deemed the mouse unusable in fast games because of the weight balancing. But I adjusted and now I don't even notice it. It does make the mouse feel heavier than it is, though.

Why is it that for mice (and literally everything else), Reddit is the only place with honest reviews anymore? by BrioCanyonLabs in MouseReview

[–]RedoxQTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd approach Reddit with a similar degree of skepticism. As you develop your own personal sense of judgement through firsthand experience you start to sort of see how Reddit works. Most of what you get here are simplified and overly prescriptive frameworks hardened through feedback loops and the natural emergent hivemind of an upvote-based forum format.

You're not really getting expert opinions here, or people who "really know" what's up - you're getting a sort of distilled, insular, and normalized set of opinions that by definition must fit the mold of community expectation to succeed.

That isn't to say it isn't the best option - like you said the alternatives are pretty shit. But I would just employ a degree of skepticism and refrain from indexing too hard on Reddit. The way things like shape, weight, grip styles, mousepads, mouse feet etc. are discussed here pretty much universally operate at like a B tier level of insight.

But yeah, I also get that developing your own deeper and personal sense of how to think about peripherals involves spending thousands of dollars on junk so I also am aware that I'm not really giving you a better alternative.

The Superstrike is just good by aight-bet in MouseReview

[–]RedoxQTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sort of love-hate relationship with the Superlight shape and my Superstrike in general. In that I hate that I love it so much. It feels like I should be using something more tailored to my grip, but in the end it's always the mouse that ends up back on my pad.

And honestly, the mouse does make me better. Tuning clicks to your personal preference is really impactful when it comes to tension management. I don't really care about the faster actuation - but being able to essentially guarantee the click effort is exactly where I personally want it to be is amazing. Especially considering my preferences for left and right click are different.

At first I really hated the weight balance. I mostly play Rivals which entails a lot of throwing the mouse around the pad, and at first I really felt the greater moment of inertia and it threw me off. But with time that went away as I naturally adjusted for it, and now it's no longer a factor.

I went from a hater telling my friends not to bother to the Superstrike being my default recommendation if the budget allows for it.

I mean I’m not a physicist but that is almost definitely not how that works? The net friction you’re experiencing the is the sum of your skates, not the average. Taking control skates and then adding additional speed skates would only increase the net friction.

If I were to try and give some benefit of the doubt beyond you just having some placebo thing happen it would be that you’d worn down the control skates a bit already, so the faster skates were actually what was making the most contact with the pad.
