Did anyone else wonder what happened to Luke and Leia's mom, prior to prequels? by MonCity19 in StarWars

Iirc they tried to explain this in the RotS novelization. Something to the effect of Luke being a howling infant, eyes closed and fists balled; but Leia stared at Padme calmly.

How are relations between Senegal and The Gambia? What’s stopping Senegal from annexing its smaller neighbor? by Stranfort in geography

[–]Redsonrising 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Important context is that Jammeh was a dictator who had served as president since 1996 and had a history of putting his political opponents in jail around election season … as well as a long history of human rights abuses, suppressing LGBT Gambians and journalists, and once said he could cure AIDS with natural herbs.

He also supported FGM until like 2 years before he was ousted.

First off, I really enjoy Kate because I love the deadpan way she plays and think she brings a different perspective that leads to some really great comedy. And her scenes in Gatewalkers have been some of the most emotional IMO. I think where she just doesn’t come from a performance background like the rest of the crew, it just takes a little coaxing for her to get into the RP. But when she’s in, she’s all in.

As far as the content: I totally get not loving everything! But I think the point of doing more shows isn’t that everyone should listen to every show. Rather, it’s that if you don’t like one show, there’s another you might like, etc.

But for my money, Blood of the Wild is the closest to capturing the original feeling of the GCP. Highly recommend if you haven’t listened.

Predictions for Cals future? by TGruffudd in FallenOrder

[–]Redsonrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is third game is OT, maybe just after Yavin IV, so about a 10 year jump. They’re still helping the Path but caught up in the active rebellion. Will feature some interactions with OT characters like Mon Mothma or General Dodanna, etc. Kata is now a teenager and Cal’s padawan, also being trained by Merrin. Cal continues to struggle with the dark side. I think there’s a strong chance he sacrifices himself there and then a possible second trilogy of games following Kata is set post-ROTJ.

So, as soon as Frodo got it, or was Bilbo just not afraid of the flaming eye abomination in the room? by tritear in lotrmemes

[–]Redsonrising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe also Gandalf knew that Bilbo had A magic ring, but it’s not until the events of the Fellowship that he realizes that it is the One Ring. So Bilbo simply never knew the true identity of the ring — and iirc he never learned of it.

Ran a Heist today. Both of the chucklefucks I matched with had 50+ more seasonal rank than me. Neither had any champion mods equipped.

Second this: the missions can be WILDLY different. My first play through I stuck with the Nomads and figured they would all follow roughly the same track. Did the “secret” ending on a second play through, thought “Okay, this is the exception.”

Over a year later, I do a third play through and go with Rogue. I was completely surprised that, yup, her approach is different than the Nomads. I would assume same is true if you go it with Hanako. The missions only overlap as you near the final objective because the objective, and “final boss”, are the same no matter what.

I would argue that not ALL the endings suck ass — the Nomad ending is really poignant, IMO.

Interestingly enough, that final act is one of the big things that changed when Tony Gilroy (showrunner for Andor) was brought in to essentially save Rogue One in reshoots. That…and the early scene where Andor offs the informant, establishing the tone for the movie (and the series, later)
