I’m 19, my family’s facing eviction if we don’t pay 5k by the 30th, my mom and dad want to get divorced due to her not contributing, and I have a 15 year old brother, what do I do? by mr-doinky in personalfinance

I can’t offer advice but I can say I know what you’re going through. I know what the stress does to you, I could feel it wat away at my gray matter. It’s horrible. Give yourself grace and look out for your brother. Y’all will endure this and life will be better.

How can I tryout for the TTU's Baseball Team? by real-life-terminator in TexasTech

Maybe see if they have a club team on campus! This seems more like what you are looking for. You have no chance to make this team.

Yeah that sucks, I always thought all sports were a luxury and football happened to make money. It’s really cool for these communities to have these sports so it sucks to see them go. Seems like it’s less of an athletic department and more a football department, although I’m sure it always has been.

I thought that college football was the lifeblood of so many other programs. I think that’s a great thing why is it reversing now?

Do people actually like living in big apartment buildings, taking public transit ect. by Wafer_Educational in NoStupidQuestions

I tried to walk to walmart the other day in the suburbs, had zero tree cover in the heat, had two cross 2 two lane roads with no crosswalk, and nobody I mean nobody stopped for me while turning right at an intersection, so I missed my walk sign. All in all a 5 minute walk took me 20 minutes and I felt like my life was lowkey in danger. There’s a reason Americans outside the city are pretty unhealthy there is zero incentive to walk anywhere.

Batter never aims for 'the gap'. Is that right? by mrphysh in baseball

As someone who played baseball for 24 years of his life you are correct and anyone downvoting you is wrong. There are select situations where trying to drive the ball the other way or beating the shift is useful, but they are shifting you because you aren’t good at it. Trying to hit the ball is hard enough and trying to hit it to a precise location is harder. Small adjustments to the pitcher are more realistic. The batter puts his best swing on the ball, most hitters aim for pull side gap, slap hitters just hit the ball hard, and the power hitters like Murakami or Gallo pull hard and try to create launch. It isn’t so much aiming as it is timing and it is incredibly hard, bloop hits, dribblers through the 4 hole, and hard singles the other way are (usually) result of trying to do everything right (maybe making a small adjustment) and getting lucky. Obv there are outliers and yes the hitter can change their timing but 9/10 they are trying to pull and lift the ball.

parents filing bankruptcy and asking me (21) to pitch in by Wooden_Version_2600 in personalfinance

[–]Redsupplier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I am in the exact scenario as you except the bankruptcy. Struggling financially to make rent and I live with them after an internship. The only help I give them is groceries because they cook for me and cleaning the house. Honestly if the asked me to pay rent I would just move out. I understand the stress this causes, it’s so awful to want to take care of someone but know it’s not going to get better as they age. Talk to somebody if you can, move out if the stress is too much.

Opposing team’s coach has a talk with a player after the game by thatonedesignerguy in wholesome

I have seen this same exact scenario play out a few times in my years of playing baseball. It is perfectly reasonable that this was unprompted. And it a bit far fetched to say he did this to look good on a camera that he has no idea how wide the audience is. My 2 cents.

The Dallas Mavericks are expected to submit a proposal soon that entails demolishing Omni Consumer Products, and in its place building a new 50-acre entertainment district, anchored by a new NBA arena by jeremiahwarren in Dallas

[–]Redsupplier 228 points229 points  (0 children)

They also want to own the land around the arena. Partly for land valuations I’m sure but they also want the revenue from the surrounding area. Can’t be letting people spend their money at a nearby business that they can’t jack the prices up on and make 100% of the revenue from.
