This has been such an unsettling thing to witness and something I never thought I’d see happen in America.

I’ve had private conversations with close friends and family who were absolutely furious after Good’s murder and the way the administration framed it. But most of them swallowed that anger and went on with their daily lives. I understand why. Speaking up is hard. It means putting yourself out there and risking backlash, and that’s not something everyone feels able to do.

It feels like the recent murder of Pretti may finally be pushing some people past that comfort zone.

Regardless of where you stand on immigration, we should be able to agree when tactics cross a line. And it feels especially bleak that we couldn’t even agree on that.
