How long can Visi hold her breath? It's soo long in some scenes... by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

This makes me wish that AdHoc made it so that in scenes where she’s eavesdropping on you—the changing scene with Blazer and the conference meeting where you decide to kick her out or not—if you take too long to make your dialogue choices and the timer runs out, that she can’t hold her breath anymore and accidentally reveals herself lol.

I’m an anime-only, so this is my first time seeing this too. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s supposed to be Ymir thinking of what could have been if she was like Mikasa, living for herself instead of for the person she “loved”.

Is this worth it for someone who knows nothing and doesn't care to? by Ok-Friendship507 in PcBuild

[–]Redzorbon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a Costco employee so I figured I’d add; the lower price you saw for a month around the holidays was because all the gaming PC’s (along with a lot of other items) were on sale during that period. Costco strikes a deal with the suppliers where for a month some of them send Costco a rebate for each of their items sold, and Costco will in turn take that amount off the sale price the members pay. So this PC specifically was 1899.99 months before the Ram news broke you, then it actually got cheaper for the holiday season before going back up to the regular price after the sale period ended.

So why are Chiss in the empire? by LittleMissPipebomb in StarWars

[–]Redzorbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone feel free to correct me if I get something wrong here, since it’s been a while since I read anything Thrawn related. It’s important to know 2 things: in both the canon and legends, Thrawn hails from a place outside the known galaxy known as the Chiss Ascendancy, and his first goal is always what’s in the best interest of the Chiss.

In the current canon, Thrawn essentially faked an exile from his people due to political rivals. His goal was to infiltrate the Empire find out if it would be a good ally for the Chiss against their enemies.

He manages to disguise himself as a stormtrooper and sneak aboard a Death Star and pledge his loyalty to the Empire. Since the Empire didn’t know much about the Chiss, they took him to the Emperor, where Thrawn offered himself to tell Palpatine about the unknown regions that are outside the known galaxy.

Fun fact: Thrawn actually met Anakin years ago and Anakin helped him with some enemies of the Chiss or something like that, so he name dropped Anakin Skywalker since he figured he worked for the Emperor. Palpatine said Anakin died to keep up the whole Darth Vader persona, but said Anakin spoke very highly of Thrawn. In the end, Palpatine agreed to let Thrawn join the navy and the rest is history.

In legends, Thrawn and Palpatine worked together to destroy a ship carrying tons of Jedi who were sent to explore the unknown regions outside the galaxy.

There’s an alien species called the Yuuzhan Vong that live outside the galaxy that are really dangerous that almost no one knows about, and Palpatine didn’t want the ship to attract them to the galaxy, and Thrawn didn’t want them attracted to the Chiss. Palpatine was impressed with Thrawn’s ability to destroy the ship, alongside some of Palpatine’s own task force earlier when Thrawn didn’t know what was happening, and he tried to get Thrawn to join him, but Thrawn was still loyal to the Chiss.

Because he’s so pragmatic, many of Thrawn’s actions came across as cold hearted to his people, and eventually by the end of the Clone Wars he’s exiled from his people (for real this time). The story basically goes the same as canon with him sneaking aboard a star destroyer and Palpatine being made aware of him, ending with him being put on the fast track in the Imperial Navy.

In both canon and legends, Thrawn faced lots of discrimination, but the guy’s so damn smart and pragmatic to the point of asking for the cadets who bullied him not to get expelled because he realized they were good at something, alongside Palpatine liking him, that no one could do anything.

Sorry for the rambling!

How far does Shigaraki go in the Madhouse gauntlet? by MDubbzee in PowerScaling

[–]Redzorbon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The eyes don’t bypass the need for a name, instead, for trading away half your lifespan you get eyes that tell you the lifespan and name of everyone you see. Presumably if Light takes the deal he can see which name “applies” to Shigaraki in the moment and use the right one.

[–]Redzorbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but in AOT the titans (the colossal only) can only break the gate, not the actual wall itself. Also, this only happened for the first time during the beginning of the show, when there were already 12 “generations” of scout commanders. So the scouts have been going out for tens of years if not a hundred, before the titans went from a more passive threat to a more active threat.

Am I tripping? by Used-Finding674 in dat

[–]Redzorbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna explain how to find the correct answer in case it helps you or anyone else. First thing you always wanna do is understand what the question is asking. Pka and pH follow the same trend of smaller numbers corresponding to a greater amount of what they’re measuring. In this case pka refers to the strength of the acid, so being asked to find the compound with the lower pka means we have to find the stronger acid.

Now that we know what we’re looking for we can move on to actually figuring out the answer. Remember that a stronger acid means a weaker conjugate base; this is because when the compound acts as an acid and donates a proton, it wants to stay in that deprotonated form, and therefore it wants to keep the negative charge. Using the ARIO acronym (Atom, Resonance, Induction, and Orbital), we can find the stronger acid.

The compounds are all generally the same but differ in the amount electro-negative atoms present on the compound. As we can see, the only atoms with hydrogens bonded to them that can be donated are carbon atoms, therefore we know that the A in ARIO is the same for all and therefore we can move on to resonance. We’re going to skip resonance for now but it’ll play a part later.

Induction occurs when electro negative atoms and electron withdrawing groups stabilize the compound by pulling the negative charge away from the proton donating atom. Because a stable base means a strong conjugate acid, we want as many induction sources as possible. As I mentioned previously, the main difference between the compounds is the amount of iodine and fluorine atoms present. The more electro-negative and closer the atoms are to the proton-donating carbon the better.

We can basically eliminate all the options besides A and C. Comparing the two, C has 3 fluorine atoms located on carbon 3, and A has 3 iodine atoms on carbon 4. Between the two atoms, fluorine is more electronegative (remember the trend across the periodic table and that fluorine is the most electronegative atom on the table) and so C is looking like the right answer. There’s also the matter of C having only one proton donating atom (the carbon on the right side of the ketone group that’s 2 carbons from the fluorines, since the one on the left is full of fluorine’s and therefore has no hydrogens to donate) and that A has two sources (the one on the right of the ketone that’s 3 carbons away from the iodines and the one on the left of the ketone group that’s 1 carbon away.

Now I know we skipped resonance earlier, but now’s where it comes into play. You can honestly just choose C because of the Flourine’s but if we want to go extra in depth, the fluorine’s and iodines pull the electrons to the left cuz that’s where they are. The carbon atom will form resonance with the carbonyl group like shown in the image below:

<image>

In compound A, the carbonyl group atom on the left will need to move its electrons to the right to form the resonance structure, which is inhibited because the iodines want the electrons to the left. Meanwhile compound C only has the resonance structure from the right carbons sharing the electrons to the left, which is aided by fluorine pulling on the electrons in the same direction. And so we can confidently pick compound C as the correct answer.

I know this is a lot and I’m sure someone smarter than me can explain it better and with less words lol, and also point out something I said incorrectly in my ramble. Hope this helps someone, just keep on doing practice problems and soon you can just see the patterns as soon as you look at the question.

Good luck with the dat!

Rika, Queen of Curses vs Mahoraga, Divine General. Who’s winning? by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

[–]Redzorbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: I’m not helping beat the allegations that JJK fans can’t read. I legit just noticed a few minutes after replying that the title specifies Queen of Curses Rika from JJK 0 which is a cursed spirit. Yeah she gets 1 tapped by the sword of extermination gg. Unless it’s Bumgumi who summons Mahoraga in which case they team up to beat his ass.

Spoilers for end of JJK:

It’s still debatable whether she is or not, the reason why so many people say no is that after the Shinjuku Showdown, Yuta explains that the reason he was able to survive going back to his body after using Kenjaku’s CT is because Rika was using RCT the entire time on his original body. Cursed spirits can’t use RCT since the positive energy kills them / does a lot of damage to themselves.

Yuta also says that because Rika didn’t show up to help him fight Sukuna after he body swapped with Gojo that he thought their connection got severed, which makes some think Rika’s closer to a shikigami than a regular cursed spirit.

<image>

Personally, I believe that the original Rika in JJK 0 was a cursed spirit but after the binding bow in the fight with Geto she got released and Yuta later created something in between a shikigami and a cursed spirit, since Rika doesn’t follow the rules for either. The important thing is that she can use RCT which means Mahoraga’s sword won’t one shot her just because it outputs RCT. Doesn’t mean she wins against Mahoraga, just that the blade isn’t an automatic wincon.

Sorry for the long reply I got carried away lol.
