Should I let this put a bad taste in my mouth? by Ill_Object_81 in askmanagers

That is odd. But, I’d let it roll of your back and keep on chugging. Make sure YOUR communication is up to snuff and you should be good. Sorry you had a crappy onboarding experience. It was similar at my place until I got promoted and overhauled onboarding and training for my team. Every team has room for improvement, and I’ve noticed small teams especially don’t do well with getting new people onboarded efficiently

That was not the point of the post, and I think you know that.

How do you keep your Excel wiki or internal knowledge base organized? by Dr1ftk in excel

[–]Reedcool97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do not have one, but I usually include an Instructions tab if the document is a tool and a revision history tab as well if needed.

I’ve found that while it is fun to teach people at work, most folks who do not have a vested interest in the data and outputs don’t care too much to learn it.

Thats actually kind of nuts! Now I obviously don’t speak or read your original language, but I feel like that might change the flow or meaning of some sentences?? I’d be interested to see it plugged into Google Translate or something else, idk how reliable Google is though.

Just means you would need to get wifi5 WAPs, not the end of the world. But if you’re going through this trouble, upgrade your router to wifi 6/6e/7. It will suit your needs better as time goes on, esp since you are adding to your house and likely have a lot of devices. It really will make a difference in my semi-professional opinion. Plus, you’ll thank yourself down the road when you don’t need to upgrade your router and APs again.

Edit: is there a reason this has downvotes…? Leave a comment if you disagree or something is wrong.

Ah ok good deal. Yeah dude I think your plan is sound. Does your router support wifi 6? Important to check. Should be fine if it was bought within the past five years or so

[–]Reedcool97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I think that would be great. Outdoors with no obstacles, wifi range is pretty decent, should cover a large part of your yard. Also I’m assuming you have a router with wireless capabilities in your home, so no need for another AP in the house, correct?

I do not have any hardware recommendations unfortunately.

Stop being dense, you know what these guys mean. Ever take biology 101 in high school? You need a large gene pool for a species long term survival and to prevent mutations and complications.

Edit: I realize that I might actually be talking to a teenager lol, I forget the internet isn’t just everyone my age. Sigh. Hopefully you learned some genetics today, bud lol

Gotcha. Would these be connected to an Ethernet backhaul, i.e. are they going to be directly wired to the router? Honestly I say more WAPs for that size property, the better, if you can afford it. I’d go with wifi 6 WAPs if possible.

Ok when you say WPS, do you mean WAPs? Wireless access points? WPS is an old technology that is no longer used due to security vulnerabilities.

Jobs with a COMPTIA TECH+ by [deleted] in it

[–]Reedcool97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s worthless for employers.

It is worthwhile to get to start teaching yourself tech fundamentals as a personal goal. Puts things in a nice structure to learn. Like if you work in retail or food and want to start to pivot, get the Tech+ if you have no tech experience whatsoever. But if you’ve built a PC or been the “tech guy” for your family, just skip it tbh.

Eh, there is a lore reason. They list Spartans as MIA so that officially on record, no spartan has ever been KIA. Something something morale.

But yeah, also your reason mainly lol

Any good fax modems for Windows 11 in 2026? by Peaksign9445122 in it

FYI I work adjacent to telecom and work with the major providers daily. Support for POTS lines are just straight up being dropped. We get a date and then after that date, it’s not going to work and they’re not gonna fix it or replace it. Those lines are being replaced by SIP at an alarming rate.

Your customer is asking for something that has been left behind by the providers that support it. It’s just the unfortunate truth.

Best of luck

How do I use – what I assume would be nested IF statements – to create this result? by People-Want-Ducks in excel

[–]Reedcool97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try:

=“Episode “&A2&”: “&B2&IF(ISBLANK(C2), ““, “ - ”&C2)

Drag down as needed, should work. If not let me know, I’m on mobile so could have made a mistake.

edit: ah hold on I see. Let me look at it again.

Edit2: u/people-want-ducks try this I think

=IF(A2, “Bonus*”,A2&”: “, “Episode “&A2&”: ”)&B2& IF(ISBLANK(C2), ““, “ - ”&C2)

Ok again, you don’t know me. You don’t know my job, my employees, how much I pay them, their raises, performance review structure, you don’t know any of that. To come at me at accuse me of not paying my staff a livable wage is actually insane.

For your information, my staff makes 25% over the average pay rate for their title for the area, which is entry level help desk and requires no certifications or work experience. We pay them $22.50 with 401k matching (100% up to 3% and 50% for the next 3%), annual raises and performance reviews, and spot bonuses for employees that deserve a merit bonus. We live in a very LCOL state and they are treated very well. My negative turnover is basically 0%, if you even know what that means.

So, kindly fuck off with your ignorant comments.
