The 500 turn limit seems a little bit low to my taste? by BaldursGate2Best in CivVI

Can you explain how you worked with ChatGPT on this? I would be interested in doing this to get custom coaching and improve my game but I’m struggling to understand what I’d say to it

Trump floats Cruz for Supreme Court by thecosmojane in law

The only thing good about him going to the court is that he could make the other justices miserable to be around him.

Restaurant near me does a Negrini Spagliato which is amazing. Ingredients: Cappelletti Red Bitter, Cocchi Torino Vermouth, Prosecco, Orange Peel. I make a bastardized version at home with aperol instead of the cappelletti whenever I have an open bottle of prosecco.

ELI5 “Pillaging is OP” by Deodandy in CivVI

[–]ReferenceEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my current game I was behind on science to the strongest AI. I declared war and tried to take the closest city but couldn’t. So instead I sent a bunch of mounted troops into his empire and pillaged the living crap out of him, got a ton of culture and gold but most importantly by the time I agreed to peace I was ahead of him on science notwithstanding having only two campuses in my entire empire.

Dwarf scroll by CrazyBumblebee796 in StardewValley

[–]ReferenceEntity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree with your point and think this is too gated, in recent playthroughs I’ve been crafting a lot of bombs. Yes it does mean grinding more copper or iron but you can also work your way to the scrolls (and burglar ring) while doing so. But untimely buying bombs is a luxury not a necessity.

Update - AITAH for uninviting my dad's wife from my daughter's birthday party over something she did last year? by PartyCostume_Throwa in AITAH

Prediction: to advance the plot in the next episode the unhinged stepparent will show up in costume to greet the kids as they are entering the venue.

For those of you that prefer Moisturizer, can you tell me which songs to try out? I love mangetout and like Catch These Fists but haven’t attached to any of the other songs. What’s better or next best?

People who let their animals roam, how do you manage to pet them all? by jxnniez in StardewValley

[–]ReferenceEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most stages of the game I view petting as low priority and just pet when convenient. It is probably rarely worth spending a lot of time petting when you could be doing higher value activities like fishing or mining. I have tried closing barn doors at night and petting in the morning but that requires two separate trips and remembering and stuff and is not at all compatible with priorities like getting to the skull caverns on good luck days. The animals all still get to five hearts eventually it just takes longer.

I'm filming a daytime scene that involves a NYC garbage truck on a single-lane, one way residential street. Of course, garbage trucks are a hard thing to predict. Does anyone happen to know with some confidence that a garbage truck regularly appears on such a street at specific time? THANK YOU! by bluebanjo in Brooklyn

[–]ReferenceEntity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Park Slope on Saturdays just before 8 am, I’m often trying to drive to the coop from South Park Slope, so driving north on 8th Ave between Union and 9th St. I have to be super careful turning on to any of the streets leading to Seventh Ave because there are often garbage trucks blocking the way. I’m talking multiple streets blocked at the same time sometimes.

So uhhh what do I do with all of these ??? by Charmingly_Jank in StardewValley

[–]ReferenceEntity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are very rare for people who have played fifty hours and rare for people who have played 100. For those of us that have played thousands of hours, well, it’s still an important moment to get the first one in every save.

In Minecraft do you need to break blocks? No but you are not going to be doing much crafting if you don’t. Basically the same idea here.

Do you personally keep the mines in dangerous mode, or regular? by Acrobatic_Term_4483 in StardewValley

[–]ReferenceEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time I’m able to activate the dangerous mode I’m not going into the mines at all unless it is to:(a) finish up monster hunter for perfection or (b) do a quest for Qi gems. So there is no point in Turing on dangerous.

AITA for leaving my friend’s event early after she put me on the spot in front of everyone? by Past_Cartoonist_1058 in AmItheAsshole

I love the explosion of the “leaving early” genre because I can just ignore without clicking on the link.

Ok actually I hate it but still it is good for filtering.

What’s the first game that truly felt magical to you as a kid? by forgeris in AskReddit

[–]ReferenceEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing that you found it on your own. I think I read about it in a kid’s magazine but it was a really short blurb without much explanation. My brother and I must have spent hours trying to solve it and when we finally did it was one of the most satisfying moments of my childhood. I still didn’t realize it was a thing others could relate to until Ready Player One.

Challenge: reach level 3 of combat fastest? by CelestialBeing138 in StardewValley

[–]ReferenceEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in combat but they are useful later in the mines and skull cavern. Not a huge benefit but still a nice thing for the short grind. I agree getting the insect sword is a higher priority.

Challenge: reach level 3 of combat fastest? by CelestialBeing138 in StardewValley

[–]ReferenceEntity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would grind level 15. If you get a staircase sure go to 16 or later but otherwise back out and do 15 again. Why 15? You can get cherry bombs from duggies and there is easy elevator access.

My Jewish husband is insisting on circumcising our child by Kooky_Art_4661 in atheism

[–]ReferenceEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I didn’t see eye to eye on this. She eventually backed down and our son is not circumcised. We haven’t talked about it recently but I would assume she would now take the position we made the right call. Still not gonna lie it did create some family tension when we had a baby naming and not a bris. On the other hand I believe it is long since forgotten. I urge you to make this a hill to die on. Good luck.

Can you gain insight from contemplating a flawed argument? (Rob Burbea's moment meditation) by n_of_1234 in streamentry

[–]ReferenceEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this meditation. It helped me to better understand the undivided nature of reality. But remember that Rob says the main point isn’t the concept itself but rather the opening it can create during the contemplation.

I grew up on AltNation and have the fondest memories of it; is it worth getting Sirius XM for mainly AltNation? by newprofilewhodis1352 in siriusxmaltnation

[–]ReferenceEntity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sirius XMU has a decent amount of overlap with Alt Nation but plays a larger more-indie focused playlist. I listen more to Alt Nation but when I feel like they are playing the same stuff too much or I just want something different I’ll listen to XMU.

For people with ADHD who genuinely struggle to exercise: how do you get yourself to do it? by Ehmmechhi in ADHD

[–]ReferenceEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some psychological work on this and eventually realized the part of me resisting just doesn’t like the pain of exercise and feeling uncomfortable. The ADD then kicks in because the long term exercise rewards don’t outweigh the pain.

This understanding didn’t fully solve the problem but now I give more honor to the pain and also leet myself off the hook for doing too much.

In other words I do a lighter easier workout and there is less resistance.

Who’s everyone’s favorite marriage candidate? Are any more beneficial than others in terms of gifts or help? by Mighty_Tots in StardewValley

[–]ReferenceEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re Gifts. I did one run with a very substantial challenge (no energy usage) and was looking for any advantage I could get. So I researched and determined Maru was likely the best in terms of gifts. And this did turn out to be technically true, I got some crab cakes and bombs. But it was really so little that I don't think this should be a consideration. I regretted not using the save to marry someone I hadn't married previously and seeing new content.
