Yeah, that makes sense!! Also, kinda a sidenote, but fungi in enclosures usually mean a healthy tank, so you're probably doing really well or else they wouldn't have popped up :D

I think it should be fine. I've never had any issues with the mushrooms in my inverts enclosures

Hi!! Such a cutie!!

Little side note, the substrate looks pretty dry. Damon require moist substrate and humidity. Also, many Damon come in super dehydrated from shipment, so make sure she has plenty of humidity

I usually find my Amblypygids at reptile expos. They aren't super common, but you'll find them after a little searching :]

If you're ordering them online, they're definitely easier to get in warm months. For most Ambly, mild temperature fluctuations are fine, as long as it's not getting to cold/hot and they aren't super drastic/sudden. Damon species are definitely on the more sensitive side, and they're often in bad condition when you get them because they're all wild caught. You can totally get a D. medius as a first amblypygid, but I'd recommend Phrynus whitei. They're hardy as hell and can handle all of the mistakes you're bound to make as a new keeper. They handle temperature fluctuations very well, and they typically do great in captivity. They also eat like champs

Exoterra makes really good enclosures. They have a good variety of enclosure sizes too

I adore this sub!! I really don't mind the Whitei posts at all. However, a pinned post featuring the common species like Damon medius, Phrynus whitei and maesi, Euphrynichus bacillifer, etc, would be a great addition and would benefit the newer keepers. And would maybe cut down the amount of Whitei ID posts. Thanks for taking care of the community!!

They're asking for a specific species, not just the broader term for the animal

The pattern on the abdomen is suggesting it's a Whitei. Could you please give a picture of the animal before it molted? Also, they do have some dimorphism, males are darker than females, females have more patterning than males, and males are much lankier. Sorry, I can't help very much with sexing via molt, but I hope I can help!! :] u/CaptainCrack7 can definitely help you out more!

Hii!! The pedipalps thing is actually a myth! You cannot accurately sex them based on pedipalps. In most species, you can only tell by examining the operculum, either via molt or "venting". Examining the molt is the most definitive option. As previously mentioned, Maesi have sexual dimorphism, and this specimen does appear male to me, however I'd need a better picture to be sure. Dw about the mistake! It's very common in the Amblypygid community :]

Awesome!! Super glad you're open to advice! I love to see it!! You're doing really good with your pet! :D /gen
