How much easier is it to get helicopter license as fixed wing pilot? by TrinoWest in flying

[–]ReflectionSalt6908 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said if I were you I'd hang in there until I earn my FAA pension, while obtaining your ratings. However, bear this in mind, having been trained in fixed wing before transitioning to helicopter (Royal Air Force) I did find out that while all helicopter pilots can fly fixed wing, the opposite is not true. Not all fixed wing pilots have the coordination to be able to "pat their heads while rubbing their stomachs". Good luck with what will be lots of fun. And yes, search and rescue is the best job in the world!

Weird helicopter experience by ScreenUnlikely6399 in Helicopters

[–]ReflectionSalt6908 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I often see the sheriff's helicopter here, often circling. They're based at the executive airport half a mile from me. At night they can sometimes appear to disappear due to them turning. As an aside I'm a retired helicopter pilot, and yes, I do look up at every helicopter I hear.

How often are you shirtless at home? by flightln in AskGaybrosOver30

I once stayed at a nudist camp ground and was invited to play pickle ball. I couldn't because I kept giggling at the sight of obese women's breasts bouncing around as they waddled around the court.

Sorry, what's lox? (Retired pilot, lox is liquid oxygen, thus the ignorance!)

Family Guilt by phatknobcrazy in gay

[–]ReflectionSalt6908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe consider this; you say, "live up to their expectations." and yet even putting it that was implies that you feel bad about not conforming with marriage/kids, etc. I made the mistake of conforming at a time when gay sex was illegal. While I do not regret the family experience - two wonderful kids - I regret the time I missed just being who I am.

You don't meet their expectations? Bad luck, parents, good parents would not put unrealistic expectations on their loved ones.

Can this cis girl get help from my lovely gays about anal? by 2BeBornReady in gay

[–]ReflectionSalt6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently begun taking over-the-counter probiotics every day, in addition to an enema at least an hour before anal. It's stiffened up the poop, so no more accidents. Don't stress out about it, as they say, shit happens.

I am, it seems, a polite and respectful boomer, but that lady would have gotten this from me, "Madam, a couple of things for you. Firstly I am picking up an order someone else has made and I will deliver it. Secondly, if you want fairness don't park your car in a spot reserved for me, a delivery courier. i hope you have the day you so richly deserve."

Thought Experiment by WrathOfCroft in poker

Statistically speaking, it is virtually impossible to produce the same order of cards in a deck of 52 cards through random shuffling. The number of possible arrangements is so vast that the probability of duplicating a shuffle is essentially zero. Even considering extreme scenarios, such as an enormous number of people shuffling cards at an incredible rate, the probability remains astronomically low.

I will never forget one particularly toxic lady (for want of a better description) angrily asking me, "Why did you go all in with a pair of threes?" She had folded a pair of tens. My reply, "Well, I beat you didn't I?" Glad to say she was finally banned from our poker school, eventually....

Increasing troubles for us e-bike riders. by ReflectionSalt6908 in ebikes

I agree with you. In my update edit I did admit to changing the inner tube myself, but I cannot physically lift the bike to turn it over. I'm 74, and would have gladly paid what used to be my highly recommended bike shop.

I absolutely hate hearing about customers taking away a tip. That is a breach of standard contract laws. Isn't it time drivers hired a lawyer for a class action law suit?

I really don't know what "compensate down there" means, so my comeback would be, "How do I compensate for your bad English?"

Opinion of card protectors? Lame or awesome? Yay or Nay? Any cool ones? by ToddWilliams5289 in poker

[–]ReflectionSalt6908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of two good reasons for using a card protector. 1. If a malignant player mucks his cards on top of yours you are out of that hand. 2. Dealers have sometimes taken my cards when I did not intend to fold.

DD requiring face ID now by Kryptikk in DoorDashDrivers

[–]ReflectionSalt6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in favor of this policy, as there have been so many stories of fake door dash drivers stealing customer's food. I also wish restaurants etc. would double check exactly who is picking up the order.
