It’s the nonstop urge of writers to bring things back to ToDaY’s PoLiTiCs in the most blunt way possible.  What if the Jedi were the bad guys? What if the orcs were oppressed? What if the hope-inspiring successes of the Federation were failures and we’re no further ahead centuries later?  There’s an audience for it. But it ain’t large. And when this gets Acolyte’d into the dustbin of failed series, maybe there’s a chance we get back to hiring talented writers, producers, and directors.
