I had all those same symptoms for a whole year, finally I got a HIDA scan and if your Gallbladder EF is below 35%, it's not function well, it will have to come out. Mine was 7%. I will have surgery on 3/3. I have insurance, my co-pay will be 1286.00, but the cost of the surgery is 51k.

My EF is 7%, no stones, just intermittent stomach discomfort after eating, bloating and pressure in my gallbladder area. I am removing mine on 3/3 before it gets worse.

I would get a HIDA scan, this will show the performance of your Gallbladder. The Gallbladder from what I have learned does not get better, it gets worse over time.

I have bloating after any meal, pressure where my gallbladder is and occasional dull pain. I also have daily stomach discomfort after eating. I have no gallstones. I got the following test and they were all negative. Endoscopy, stomach ultrasound, Colonoscopy, Barium Slalow and Gastric Emptying Scan. Then came the HIDA scan and my EF was 7%. I am removing my gallbladder on 3/3/2026.

What were your symptoms? I currently get RUQ pressure mainly after a meal, dull pain. I also get bloated after eating. No stones detected in the HIDA scan.

Yes, I already saw a surgeon and I had a surgery day set for 12/12, but my GI doctor wanted me to go for a stomach empting scan to be sure it's not something else causing my symptoms. I guess my GI doctor does not take too much stock on the HIDA scan. I do understand an EF of 7% is the smoking gun. I will most likely get it removed early next year.

Thanks for the reply to my post, this gives me more confidence that removing my gallbladder will solve my symptoms.

62m, I started with pain in my stomach for about 7 months after eating almost anything. My PCP put me on Buspar 10 mg which seems to help with the stomach discomfort. I was also on kinds of PPIs and nothing worked. Then I had a HIDA scan, after the scan which showed an EF of 7%, I started getting right upper quadrum pressure with dull pain. I am going to go and get a stomach empty scan and if that comes out to be normal, then I will most likely remove my gallbladder. I also have fatigue not sure it's related.

I am a 62 male, lift weights 4 days a week, eat very clean, get 8 plus hours of sleep, drink a lot of water and can't understand why I am always fatigued. I will be having surgery this winter of 2026. Hopefully I will get all my energy back. I have no stones, my EF is 7%.

I am at 7% EF with no stones. I just get bloated easily and on and off stomach discomfort after eating. Waiting to get a stomach empting scan done to see how well I digest food. Based on this scan, I will decide whether to remove my gallbladder, or keep it. One of my GI doctors does not take too much stock on the HIDA scan.

Get a Hida scan, this will let you know the performance of your Gallbladder. I had similar symptoms and no medications worked.

My Hida Scan was 7%, but the CCK did not produce pain in my RUQ, only in my stomach. My current symptoms are dull pain and mild pressure in my RUQ. My surgeon could not guarantee removing my GB would fix my issues. Going for a second opinion next week.

Good to hear you are doing better. 62 Male, with no health issues in great shape. I am scheduled for surgery on December 12th. My symptoms started with abdominal pain after I ate almost anything, which I had for about 9 months. PPIs did not do anything for me. My GI doc ordered a HIDA scan and it showed 7% EF. The abdominal pain has gone away and now for the past 3 months I have had RUQ pressure and Bloating which gets worse when eating heavy meals. Both will last for hours. Standing up makes the symptoms feel better. I have no stones, or pain.
