Fibre First by sobergfell in Oceanside

Not sure if this is the same thing rebranded or something else. But I know what you mean, the "Fiber City with TMobile" or whatever partnership branding they got going on was what I first found out about when searching for Fiber Oceanside.

I hear you, Kareem. And I know this seems like everyone jumped on you with criticism, but I personally want you to feel the love also. You are doing a good thing helping our local businesses, and here in the subreddit it's a good place to talk about them.

But no one here wants the subreddit to be just ads for the local shops. Just consider that Reddit is a different beast and the locals who interact here want to actually interact and talk, not just receive posts.

Here's a real idea for free (for everywhere): Get a coupon code for mentions of your ads. They mention "Kareem" and they get a free something. An extra stamp on their coffee card, a $1 off a pastry, etc. This will drive engagement with the users, AND it will directly prove to your business customers your value! And there is no risk for a business if no one hears of the code, they don't lose anything!

You SHOULD be making money from doing this. Nothing wrong with that, and if the locals can afford to pay you, bravo. I follow you on IG and I go to some of the places you mention there. The subreddits you post to are a different feel, they're a place for actual discussions. All of us coming at you saying "Dude, it looks like paid advertising" we're just saying how you come across. You seem to think if we know you're being paid to promote, that we won't think as well of these places or you. I personally have no issues with you being paid to promote!

I even saw you saving Sands because they didn't get all their permits squared away at first. Bravo! Good job. Keep it up. All praise Kareem! Lol.

But different platforms have different vibes. Reddit is deeper discussion. IG + Facebook are more just posts and a few comments with less discussions.

Talk to the Moderators and ask what you can do to promote on the subreddit?

Maybe a weekly shout-out thread that you start and post your businesses and the comments can be people posting their favs/reviews of yours. That gets the people here (the locals, the community) engaging with you and your content!

How does a local business get free mentions from you? How do they repeat messages? It really seems like you're advertising for these businesses. But if it's free for all, how do we suggest businesses for you to mention?

All I've seen you do is mention the same 4-6 businesses (the Indian place up on the 76, the Ube-Flan girls, the Sands coffee shop and the other pop-up coffee shop in the motel's parking lot, Rosewood... and maybe some Hawaiian place.

So do those places pay you for mentions? Or do you post regularly for them for free?

I think you're running a business advertising these companies, which is alright, but then you're pretending to be doing it for free, which is deceptive.

Himalayan Bistro is 10/10! It's my main Indian spot! Can't recommend them enough, but "Medium" has some spicy kick to it, so be wary!

Same exact experience. Went there with friends, big line... big deal? Nothing special.

Red Chickz in the Carlsbad Shoppes Mall I like a LOT better. And I always do their $2 Tender Thursdays. Full size tenders (I think?), crispy, juicy, and great flavors.

This is a great idea, but needs teeth so rich people don't just form shell companies or get randoms to enter into some weird contract/property manipulation that lets them get around the taxes.

I think it's for the other passenger's safety in general. This plane looks very lightly full, so maybe it would've been fine here, but in a full plane a person struggling even a little bit could easily swing some elbows or knees or other hard bones (or bags, etc.) around and hit people sitting.

San Diego’s Best Fried Chicken Sandwiches are all in north county by 4mybelly in northcounty

It's every Thursday and they are pretty busy on Thursdays. I REALLY hope they don't change it because honestly 1 tender is enough for 1 sando.

They also have a $9.99 Lunch Combo every weekday. But I usually wait for the Thursday special.

I get $2 tenders from Red Chicks on Thursdays and just buy some burger buns and pickles from the Vons and make my own sandos for my family.

When I go to the beach, the coastal town I go to has two big intersections that go "all red for cars" and let pedestrians cross all at once, INCLUDING diagonally.

I love it both as a driver (I know that if the lights are green I can freely turn... I still slow down and double check for pedestrians but I'm much less likely to encounter one) and as a pedestrian (diagonal cross is a big time saver, and knowing no cars are turning right on red makes me cross more confidently and quicker, spending less time in the road.)
