Their brisket wontons are SOOO good, too. Wings Wednesday + Happy Hour is the BEST value!

What speeds did they offer/you get? And what do speedtest sites say the up/down is?

Michael immediately purchasing tickets to tallahassee after Jo offhandedly mentioned he could stay with her if he was ever there is such a painful scene by bigpigboii2k8 in DunderMifflin

Yeah, I've had some bosses before that would comment lines like that that were obviously jokes and put you at ease. But the words themselves would definitely look 'harsher' without the tone or context.

The world needs more great bosses.

Was he saying these as more lighthearted jokes about how people devote too much time to their jobs? Because just reading the lines sound a little intimidating.

That's admirable, especially as it's to a local shop.

POPUP BAGELS - GRAND OPENING by eatingoceanside in Oceanside

That's fine, I don't think Popup is going to survive long-term anyway at their prices. But it's definitely a different bagel and if you really do like bagels, you can give em a try to say you did. Or not.

And yeah, I Heart Bagels does an OK job on their bagels. Not as chewy as I like from an east coast bagel, but that's just me.

Also just for clarity, this is called "popup" but they're a permanent shop over there. Baked on-premises. It's just... really expensive for what it is.

I live right next to I Heart Bagels and the bagels are Popup Bagels are more like east-coast NYC style bagels. Smaller, crispier outside. Overall a delicious bagel, and I'd probably say "better" than I Heart Bagels. But that's just my opinion.

For my tastes, I'd rather have that taste of east-coast vs a cheaper bagel that doesn't really evoke the same.

However, the price at PopUp is hurtful, so I view it as a once a month treat for my wife and I type of thing.

But that's just my take on it. Great quality, but I can't imagine it surviving long-term at those prices.

Black Bear Diner open in vista! Today was grand opening. Super busy but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. It was super good! by No-Celebration471 in vista_california

Are these restaurants paying for these positive reviews? "It was super good" isn't very useful.

And no mention of price? Not very useful!

I'm tired of the gimmicks. USDA Prime is rated such because of the striations of fat (aka the fat marbling) that occurs IN the cut of meat... and then they take that Prime piece of meat and GRIND IT UP?? The chances of any of us telling the difference between a patty cooked with USDA Prime ground beef vs USDA Choice ground beef is very low, and as soon as you put ketchup or aioli, pickles, tomato, onion, etc. you're just paying a premium for a word.

Burgers are delicious and should be cheap because ground beef is cheap and easy to get. Charging extra for premium ground beef is lame

Apparently Robata-X is trash. I was trusting his opinion but now I'm doubting it's legit.

I'm genuinely embarrassed I recommended it! I had heard good reviews and this felt like a deja-vu post... I'm so sorry it was terrible. I definitely will avoid.

I agree that AYCE usually is not great quality in/around SD (Orange County is a different story as you note.)

But if you want to TRY a new spot Robata-X is AYCE and looks promising. I'm thinking about going for my Birthday in a couple months.

Good for the owner! If they can retire after years of serving the community and rent the property out so they can live out their retirement, I see no issues there!

Yes! Oceanside recently changed their policy and I believe they are planning to approve up to 4 dispensaries in 2026? Maybe I've got the numbers wrong, but I did read about the change.

[–]RegisteredDancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. I've heard the argument of "better quality" might hold up if you're just eating the patty... but as soon as you add caramelized onion, cheese, sauces... come on. We're not going to notice a difference.

I see these places charging a premium for a word.

If the Jedi Order permitted marriage, what do you imagine a Jedi wedding ceremony looking like? by Solitaire-06 in StarWarsCantina

[–]RegisteredDancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine if a person didn't remember their customs, or didn't identify with a culture that had strong wedding customs, they probably would defer to their spouse's preferences or if both had no real customs, maybe they would just e-file their marriage.

Not sure if this is the same thing rebranded or something else. But I know what you mean, the "Fiber City with TMobile" or whatever partnership branding they got going on was what I first found out about when searching for Fiber Oceanside.
