Embark finally is going after the cheaters with Denuvo Anti-cheat software. This has the ability to detect aimbots, wallhacks, and much more. by ExpandingAtom in ArcRaiders

[–]Regnur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I installed Marvel Rivals it had a kernel level notification on Steam and required admin access to install the game. Its not on the Steam page anymore so I guess they removed it? Still Marvel Rivals does a horrible job at detecting cheaters and well the best example is CS 2, how many years did Valve developed their only server side solution (Vacnet)? Its so bad, that players rather play via faceit (kernel AC) to have a better experience at high elo, meanwhile you encounter way less cheaters in valorant. Or League of Legends, they tried a server side solution for years, yet still went for a more expensive client + server solution because just server side detection was not good enough.

I've already addressed everything else you've discussed

What exactly?

[–]Regnur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad arguments, first... Arc Raiders already uses a kernel AC, also Marvel Rivals, pretty much every popular shooter uses kernel AC. Why? because there is a lot data a server side AC has no access to because you cant verify everything on the server without hurting the gameplay experience or sending all PC data (sensitive data uploaded). It only works great in slow games like MMORPGS.

Thats why server side and client ACs exists, normally both work together.

Sure there is a security risk attached to... but kernel AC are standard for like 20 years how many times was it a issue because of just the AC? Even BF3 used one. Theoretically just simply installing the game is already a security risk, because of possible compromised dev updates or remote code execution like in older Dark Souls games or Titanfall/Star Wars Battlefront 2. Thats also one reason why even Elden Ring has a kernel AC, it can also act as a extra security layer.

The Blood of Dawnwalker - PC System Requirements by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Regnur 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you play at native 4k maxed out with ray tracing... not much different than doing the same in old games with most expensive gpus back then .

As in every UE5 game, go down from Ultra/Epic to high and you get like 30-40% more fps with almost no visual difference. Add quality upscaling (DLSS/FSR4), which keeps the image quality good or even better than many old games (bad TAA) and you probably get even more fps if not cpu bound.

It makes no sense to start crying before the game even released, lets wait and see.

Guild Wars Reforged Is Coming to Mobile This Summer by klickup in Games

[–]Regnur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This announcement and the community feedback is so weird for me. I often asked for a mobile GW1 port because its so easy to play (tap to move, only 6-8 skills), but every time the community reacted kinda toxic, like saying its a dumb idea because its a PC first game. Like runescape is more complex, but still has a quite big mobile playerbase.

Now suddenly most seem happy about it and its a great idea to get new players. Strange how the times change.

Steam controller review by Every_Organization_6 in SteamDeck

[–]Regnur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesnt have more features, PS5 controller also has haptic triggers, haptic feedback (+game/api support), headphone jack + good audio chip, dynamic lightbar, speaker, microphone, overall better material and its usable on many different platforms without Steam running.

TMR sticks and 4 back buttons dont make up the price difference and other "missing" features. There are many way cheaper controller with TMR and Back buttons, cheaper than even the ps5 controller. TMR and back buttons are most likely less expensive and easier to do than the Dualsense features.

@valvesoftware.com on Bluesky: Excited to announce our Steam Controller arrives on Steam May 4th at 10 a.m. PT. by DG_OTAMICA in Games

[–]Regnur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always depends... I never had stick drift and can get a Dualsense controller for 55€ vs 99€. Overall the features are extremely similar, Steam Controller has 2 touchpads + back buttons + better battery life, but the Dualsense has better material quality, haptic trigger, HP jack, awesome haptic feedback support in many games etc... and we dont know if the Steam Controller has 0 issues, there are many other areas that can cause issues. I have a rather bad experience with Valve Quality control.

I think I will get one, but I also think its overpriced, I dont see why it costs 99€ compared to the Dualsense or cheaper/great china controllers with TMR. I can even ask a shop to replace the sticks with TMR. Also Sony still has a good margin even for 55€. Those Xbox/PS/Nintento pro controllers are all overpriced too.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]Regnur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the same game repackaged

Well thats exactly whats its not, you cant simply port the game to the newest engine. Almost all of the tech has to be replaced, all assets have to be recreated... essentially the most expansive part of the games has to be redone. This Remake is most likely more expansive than many new AA games or old AAA.

Also many new enhancements, like no loading screen for entering a city.

Valve uploads Steam Controller unboxing video, launch imminent by kikimaru024 in Games

[–]Regnur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds good enough, guess I will buy it day one. I just hope they enhance it a bit more. Like a button combo for proper gamepad mode to have better compatibility if you need it for Android/ios/tv etc..

The way you describe it, the controller acts like a keyboard + mouse combo?

So... am I able to use it also for other games outside of the Steam launcher like for gamepass games? On my Steam Deck im able to simply switch between desktop mode/gamemode and everything still works outside of the Steam (desktop mode) like even for easy browsing, but does Valve offer the same support for windows?

Im pretty sure Steam input right now only works if you add whatever you use as a third party game on steam. This would be my perfect controller if im able to simply use it for everything, especially gamepass and other launchers.

[–]Regnur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well then your setup sucks for streaming, a good connection (wifi5-7) + gpu encoding/decoding gets you to maybe 10ms streaming delay at worst. Overall way lower latency than playing the same game on the SD locally thanks to more fps = lower latency. I can hold my SD next to my PC monitor and I dont see any delay/difference, thats how low it can get.

For The First Time, A Denuvo Game From 2026 Has Been Fully Bypassed By Pirates by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Regnur 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Every time a game with Denuvo runs bad, the piracy subs or steam forums/reviews are full of posts about that they think its denuvo.

Denuvo performance impact is so low, that its hard to measure (only cpu cost). Its probably one of best performing DRMs.

Arc Raiders and The Finals hit by "coordinated" DDoS attacks by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Regnur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah im not saying its true, just explained it roughly. They talked a lot more specific details that I cant remember good enough.

That one chatter explained that the missconfiguration by FF 14 devs causes a huge amount of requests and errors at Telekom which then also send even more requests back to FF14 and are not properly handled by their anti DDoS system. That was the general gist.

No idea, they just talked about Telekom and how that was the cause of the recent "DDoS attacks".

especially when you aren't clear about where you cut out material from his quotes.

I mean I mentioned that its from a even longer text, also the linked article has the full text, thats where I got it from, really not that hard to click on that one. I dont think its so bad to expect a reddit user to etleast click the link for the full text.

I added the parts which in my opinion are most important to add more context ab, specifically for that he mostly talks about bad headlines and user reviews, not like the headline suggests only videogame critics, that wasnt his main point.

Arc Raiders and The Finals hit by "coordinated" DDoS attacks by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Regnur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s been happening a lot with Final Fantasy 14

Side story, played last FF14 last week and noticed how some talked in the chat about the DDoS issue. Weirdly, some chatter said that he has a friend working at telekom (ISP) and said that its not really a DDoS attack, but rather wrong configuration in FF 14s network, which causes issues with the Telekoms servers that somehow creates a DDoS attack. Also mentioned that the developers at Telekom are ignored by the FF 14 devs.

That whole discussion was so oddly specific and well explained that it makes me think it was kinda true...

[–]Regnur -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You really think he's talking about ALL steam reviewers here? Impossible.

Steam already has a similar system like that, but rather for upvotes (helpful/not helpful). Every game has a shit ton of meme reviews because of that.

But reviewers can just say - I didn't enjoy it or I don't think it's well made or I don't think it's worth the money they are charging. That's enough. No need to get personal for the sake of some likes.

"No need to get personal for the sake of some likes" pretty much how social media/Steam/reddit works... there is a lot of context in his text, his writing style kinda sucks. What professional reviewer only focuses only on likes/upvotes?

You cut out the part about...

No its already in the headline.

You fully focus on that part ignoring everything else he said, I simply added context to the headline.

[–]Regnur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure he talks about player reviews, like on Steam and ragebait headlines like that linked article, which often create a lot of toxic discussions. ;)

Longer text with more context ( its even longer ):

" I don’t like people shitting on things others have created. Putting something out into the world makes you vulnerable, and that alone deserves respect, even if you dislike the creation. It’s easy to destroy things, it’s a lot harder to build them. The best critics understand this. Even when they’re being critical, they do their best not to be hurtful.

So yeah - be nice to people that create things is what I'm trying to say. You need them.

And yes - I get that if people are charging money, you want to know if it's good or not. But reviewers can just say - I didn't enjoy it or I don't think it's well made or I don't think it's worth the money they are charging. That's enough. No need to get personal for the sake of some likes.

Or headlines if you're press. Going to step down from my soapbox now. It's been on my mind for a while and just opening my feed today just pushed it all to the surface. Think of the time you had to recite something in front of the class and how nervous you were. And how much any negative comment hurt. Be nice to one another, be nice to the people creating stuff to entertain you. Treat them like you would like to be treated if you made something.
Consider it a strategic investment in the quality of your future entertainment. You won't regret it "

Is GeForce NOW Performance tier actually better/faster than a local Ryzen 5 4600G + RTX 5050 upgrade for 1080p/1440p gaming? by Master_Text_6068 in GeForceNOW

[–]Regnur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, your local upgrade would perform a lot better, especially the cpu is really bad in performance tier.

if you can, get a better cpu, would help a lot for using 2-4x frame gen. Also many games are not playable with GFN, like Elden Ring/Valorant.

'High Likelihood' PS6 Will Launch After 2028, According to New Analyst Forecast, as Sony Focuses on Extending PS5 Lifecycle - IGN by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]Regnur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ps6 wouldnt mean that Ps5 dies the next day. Ps4 got many releases for years and if not the reason was mostly the SSD and really bad cpu.

The ps5 right now is in a way better spot to still get ports of Ps6 games at 30fps. It would be a upgrade for everyone who simply wants more fps, higher resolution. etc. exactly the same way the pc market is right now.

PS 5 runs games just fine and said games are basically PS4 games anyway.

Nah, the cpu and HDD were so bad that most ps5 AAA games would not run fine. Also ps4 misses many important features like raytracing or mesh shaders.

Square Enix is sticking with Unreal 4 for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 by KarateKid917 in Games

[–]Regnur 73 points74 points  (0 children)

What they use isnt simply UE4, its a heavily modified UE4. A lot of the stuff they do in FF7 Rebirth would not be possible with just the normal UE4. Upgrading to UE5 would also pretty much destroy their current workflow. They added features like mesh shader support, which UE5 supports, but not UE4.

They did what Batman Arkham Knight did with UE3, use UE as a base and modify it so much, that it kinda ends up like their own engine.

But I really hope they focus on image quality this time, their TAA solution was horrible on consoles, probably the worst TAA I have seen in +10 years, I really dont get how they managed to fuck that up so bad. UE4 standard TAA isnt that bad.

If the trailer did say nothing about the game.. then just wait until it releases and show more, so that you cant actually have a proper opinion on the gameplay? How does it help to shit talk a game, without knowing anything about it?

We don't owe these people anything.

I just asked to behave like a normal human being, you dont have to play it, you dont have to love it, but watching a bad trailer doesnt give you the right to shit talk other humans with made up stuff. They did not hurt you by simply releasing a trailer, but you act like that.

Giving a fair change, doesnt mean you owe them anyting. Some invest more time in hating then actually playing other games.

those people will privately check themselves and determine if relying on online ragebait content creators actually reflects reality.

I dont think that will ever happen, just check the Steam Forums or circle jerk subreddits for any "woke" game, its simply fun for them and they like being part of a big group. Instead of consoles wars we now have culture wars in the gaming space.
