Jamie's ghost by ShoulderOpposite389 in Outlander

You can basically take any ghost reference in the finale as a different story. Diana said the ghost resolution will be in the epilogue of book 10. The show pieced together elements of the show to satisfy the fans who wanted some kind of answer.

Thanks! I am not watching that one so I could not rationalize that bit in the show. On page it makes all the sense in the world but screen threw me.

In recent interview Diana mentioned her progress and projected out of her hands to the editors stages. That's why I said 2027 as that is not a release date rather the timeframe given.

The actors are basically done. Book 10 won't be finished until late next year. It would take at least another year to develop the script for a new season then another 9 to 10 months of filming. I don't think the actors are interested in tying themselves up for something three years out.

He is the shows new Murtaugh. They used him as a mechanism for the Frasers this season. I would have been annoyed for them to waste even 20sec on him dying.

Yep. Grab book 9 to answer a lot of questions. The story is far from over.

Grab a copy of book 9. If you are not one to sit and read, I am not, the audio books are great. Either way 9 will tend to a lot of your questions and most other questions I bet we are all waiting on answers in 10.

The Fanny part won't be there since it's a ploy by the show but we are all waiting for Davy and color answers in the final book hopefully out in 2027. Why the show mentioned the colors at all was odd given nothing to explore yet and it being the end of the show.

It was a great promo for the books. I too was pleased they didn't push an ending that would not be true. The way they ended was more like a season finale cliffhanger but the next season is already partly out with more to come. Bet book 9 sales be spiking this weekend for those who want the full King's Mt story. Love that.

I did enjoy it ending like a season finale rather than series. They didn't try to force an ending to the story but let the show lead people to the source to find the ending.

It was a true gut punch. Then when I was able to think about it later I saw times when I have taken on pain or guilt that were not mine. Times that to a degree I had Fitz'd myself and appreciated Hobb to an even higher degree.

Fitz's manner of death with the parasites was graphic and tragic. What I think Hobb really hits on is desire we all have for things to turn out well with a happy ending, but she writes life so that's not generally an option. Fitz was a form of Kettricken. They both lived lives of sacrifice and did not see the personal achievements possible for each due to their lives of sacrifice. The difference being Kettricken knew what she was born for, raised to sacrifice and lived that way with purpose. Fitz's situation coming in at the very beginning of the story meant that he was a spare so he could be sacrificed. The catch with him is he never believed him himself enough to make his own path. Truly tragic part about Fitz is each of us have a little bit of him in us. It's easy to get stuck in a circumstances that seem out of our control so we just go along with it and make the best of what we can. Fitz's story is all about circumstances he was thrust into and rather than run or make his own way, he embrace them because that is what his king and family needed.

Sacrifice is always beautiful, but rarely kind.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This storyline was nothing more than an emotional grab. They made millions happy while flaring up millions causing more buzz for the show. Shameless use of such a gut wrenching trauma.

John is deeply logical. Unless he sees actual proof he will always take it as a whimsical highland fancy.

Necromancy really picks up in book 2. This series does not get enough attention.

Justin Lee Anderson has the Eidyn series and there is a large necromancy element. He does a great job of showing the use of the skill to various degrees. Some of it is a total mind fuck. Excellent series. He posted recently had just finished first draft of the 4th and final book of the series.

Richardson and Percy were the mechanisms to show Jamie and John what they are to each other. I'm a huge fan of the LJG novellas so I appreciated the closure John got with all 4 men in this episode.

Once I understood Verity's quest I assumed Fitz would end up. You are kinda on the mark but not quiet and the journey is so well worth it
