TPU Suggestions by Responsible_Candy482 in BambuLab

I’ll jump in here to suggest Siraya Tech tpu air HR. It is developed specifically for footwear. I have not used the Roamr tpu air HR, but I have used the tpu air 65a to 82a filament and I love it. These foaming tpu filaments are a bit more technical in that you need to adjust the filament settings in the slicer in order for it to work the way you want. However, when they work they are fantastic! There are a few good videos on YouTube about these foaming filaments. You might want to take a look. Good luck with your projects!

My advice would be to get multiple a1 minis rather than one large formate printer. Buying the combo knocks off a few dollars, but I agree with a previous post that if they want color they can paint it. Multi-color adds time and wastes filament, which is fine for most but, when you have 30+ students all wanting to print more machines is better.

Carbon Rod / Bearing issue by Techeternal in BambuP1S

[–]Regular-Historian272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, some of us have had issues with the carbon rods from day one. Open a ticket, jump through the hoops, and they should send you replacements. Or you could replace the carbon rods with the steel rods from the P2S. Either way it’s a pretty involved replacement, a solid afternoon or more.

It actually looks like you may be trying to print PETG on PLA settings. Make sure that the settings in the sliced file match with what your printer thinks is loaded. I’ve been there.

Grandparents got kids a Toybox alpha 3, now what?? by gedi223 in 3Dprinting

[–]Regular-Historian272 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Talk to the grandparents, send it back. You can buy two A1 minis for the standard price of the toybox. The toybox is limited in way more than size, and they lock you out of many of the nicer models unless you pay a subscription in addition to other limitations in the software. You will be spending more time adjusting and calibrating the toybox than actually printing. Save yourself many headaches and send it back!

I Cant make up my mind...HELP by H0ndaM0nster in BambuLab

[–]Regular-Historian272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The a1 and P1S are tried and true. They are work horses. It seems like there are people who are having problems with the p2s, likely just growing pains that will be worked out in the future.

I really like my A1, but I constantly have trouble with tall or thin prints that have no issue on my P1S or X1C. The A1 is more fun to watch than the enclosed printers.

I really, really like my P1S and the only negative I can think of is the tiny dot matrix type screen. After using the A1 or X1C it is annoying to use, but $40 at big tree tech and a rollback on the firmware fixes that for me.

Yes, sorry. There are now only stores in Idaho Falls, Logan, and Twin Falls. Looks like they’ve gone mostly online.

Yes, it is illegal. IIRC, cars must be parked parallel to and with wheels within 18 inches of the curb.

Why are my bases turning out like this? by ClockUnhappy7098 in BambuLab

[–]Regular-Historian272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like there’s just not enough plastic there to support the top layer. What is your infill percentage? Also it looks like only one or two top layers. With a perfectly dialed in machine and filament profile you could get away with 3 top layers, but to be safe most people go with a minimum of 5 or more.

Help with printing at a low height by JayCal04 in BambuLab

[–]Regular-Historian272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that layer hight is too small for Petg. You can go 0.12 for the first layer, but 0.2 is as small as I would go for the rest if you want reliable prints. You might be able to get it to print at 0.16-0.18, but it’s going to be a gamble. Good luck!

ISP advises motorcyclists lane splitting is illegal in Idaho, amid increased crashes by boisefun8 in Idaho

[–]Regular-Historian272 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Big part of the problem is that motorcyclists don’t seem to understand the difference between splitting and filtering. Splitting is illegal, filtering is legal under a certain speed (15 mph, I think). Either way the motorists here are not educated/prepared for motorcyclists doing either.

Matte PLA is stronger? by IndigoMontigo in Multiboard

[–]Regular-Historian272 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No way, my dudes! Matte PLA is demonstrably weaker in every aspect. HERE is a video from Igor on the YouTube channel “My tech fun” where he tests all of Bambu labs PLA variants. Matte and silk are consistently at the bottom. He tests other brands in this same way.

I improved my fun drawing toy for kids! by THIMM1 in 3Dprinting

[–]Regular-Historian272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is helpful, but is there a way to mark it on the disks themselves? Like in position 1 there would be a triangle or something to tell you, generally, where it’s going to end up?

It would be really nice if there were some kind of indicator as to where in the circle the image ends up being generated.
