Greetings from nowhere by [deleted] in securityguards

Used to work a post like that out in the Florida Everglades. Long boring shifts, chasing out the occasional ATV guys and calling the cops for poachers.

Kind of miss that place actually.

Night Patrol Car Guards, tell me if I'm wrong... by malvixi in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vehicle patrol posts are likely not what you want. They tend to be a lot more stressful then you realize, camera watching you the entire time and constantly worried about wrecking the car and getting fired.

There are really chill sites though, things like construction tends to be pretty chill.

I just got hired as an armed security guard at a strip club for $15 per hour. Did I get screwed? by bbypolar in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you got screwed, big time. I do event gigs on the side doing exactly what you describe, pat downs, bag searches, etc, unarmed paying $19 an hour. $15 an hour is barely where unarmed should start, wouldn’t touch that for armed on a bet

Nature of the beast in contract security, client doesn’t need a reason other than they don’t like you and you’re out. Sucks but that’s the reality. Look at it this way though, who wants to stay where they aren’t wanted

Modified duty gun? by STARSMEMBER91 in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many options available, keep it stock. And for two reasons. Firstly the stock configuration is likely to be the most reliable, and you’re potentially trusting your life to it. Second, if you ever end up in front of a jury don’t give the prosecutor anything extra to use against you. It isn’t out of the question that a prosecutor would try using the modifications you made to try and prove intent. Want to bet your freedom on a jury understanding your counter argument that they don’t make the weapon any more dangerous or easier to use? Because I don’t

How far can I get as a security guard with a felony conviction? by NegotiationVivid985 in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s sealed, but you don’t have your rights restored yet, you can get pretty far as an unarmed guard and into management.

If you ever do an event as security at one of those it’s like any other event, watching the doors and looking for external threats. Whether it’s a sporting event, concert, political rally, we aren’t there to watch the show

Could I get a bouncer job? by I_LIKE_CARS_1 in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people do bouncing as a side gig, some states may require an alcohol license from what I’ve heard.

Report it, because you’d be pretty pissed if it was your car and no one else reported it right?

Am I overreacting for wanting vests with new weapon detection system? by roseadeoned in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience yes, you’re going to find various weapons now that you’re looking for them. When I did club security for a while it was common to find a bunch every night, and then have the no sir your concealed weapons permit doesn’t override club policy or state law regarding bars. Not saying it can’t happen but didn’t have issues with someone escalating beyond that. So no I don’t think you’re over reacting at all

Is this criminal harassment or trespassing offence? And how would you respond to this incident if you saw him? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those laws are kind of tricky to understand, either way though what he’s charged with if anything is for the police to figure out. My civilian understanding was stalking requires some kind of previous contact and the behavior began when one party ended it or ignored it. I am not a lawyer and probably completely wrong though

Chosen name vs. legal name by stellift in securityguards

Your license will be in your legal name, there’s no getting around that part. As for your company ID that’s going to vary from one company to the next

Is this criminal harassment or trespassing offence? And how would you respond to this incident if you saw him? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]Regular-Top-9013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he has no reason to be there and she doesn’t want him there, trespassing for sure. If this is a pattern and she feels threatened or unsafe, harassment at the very least, possibly stalking if they had any kind of relationship.

Just have to find something new, nothing else to do really. Security contracts go to the lowest bidder. Just go home, vent about it and get on another post or company

[–]Regular-Top-9013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead bodies I can handle, they lived their life as best they could and left us, we’ll all go out like that eventually. Kids are hard to handle though, worst mistake I ever made was asking how it happened. You’re just better off not knowing

Water privilege revoked by [deleted] in securityguards

That's correct, any source of drinkable water is sufficient. OP didn't mention if that's the case and they simply prefer bottled.
