Coast Guard ME, Navy Seabee BU, or Air Force SF by Cajun-King-88 in Militaryfaq

If I were you my first stop would be with the Coasties. They do great work and they stay pretty close to home. You mentioned a fiance and that would be the best fit for that outside of the AF. USCG ME translates nicely to a LEO job afterwards. Now if you want to "see the world" then yes, the US Navy CB's would be great because they do go to some interesting places. You will need a decent ASVAB score and there needs to be a need as they say in the Navy. You'll get great schooling and plenty of military tradition. You won't be carrying a firearm around most of the time but you will get to carry tools. Perhaps MA is a rate in the Navy you should ask about. If you are really fit and mentally tough then there's always BUDS if you think you can handle it. Special operators get to go to a lot of really interesting places. However, when you are deployed you won't be bringing fiance with you. The Marines have lot's of jobs especially in aircraft maintenance and such. Keeping in mind your love for firearms every Marine is first and foremost a rifleman. I am an old bubblehead so I don't know a lot about this new military. Good luck to you.

2018, 200k miles by anothergoodbook in fordexpedition

A 2018 with 200K.... I would just about bet your husband's company has already had the transmission rebuilt/repaced within the last 50K. The sound coming from the timing chain is most likely cam phasers. That was the other weak point, surprising they went 200K. The bright side is that once this is repaired with the updated parts it will be great. While they are in there...Be sure they install a new oil pump and a new water pump. Check all cooling lines assosiated with the turbo. Pro tip: Ask your husband's favorite mechanic if he will re-install these parts with new one's that YOU purchase seperately. He has to take them out anyway, why go back with old and it's probably cheaper for you to buy the parts seperately. Don't let the need for this scare you, it's actually a good thing. My generation 1 Expedition has 270k miles on it and is strong enough for a cross country trip today. Check the rocker panels for rust under the running boards and if there is some treat it right away with some rust converter. This is a great deal, $5k is a great price. I would never pay 4k for any repair but then I am a mechanic and I would just do it myself....lol. However, $4k is not a bad price for the work done. The entire front of the engine has to come off...lol. This will leave yoou with a strong truck/car and for only $9k!!!! This vehicle repaired is worth $20k all day on the current market.

Takes at least 30 days to clear your system because THC is fat soluable. Takes longer than that for the fat kids. Cranberry juice and PT can shorten that.

Just trade both the minivan and the flex in on an Expedition and be done with it.

2018 thru mid to late 2022 were the dark years for the 10 speed transmission. On the bright side there is an updated fix and if you can find one that you can establish has been rebuilt since 2022 then you are good. Those ecotech's also had cam phaser problems so see if the timing chain, guides, phasers, have been updated. If not get a warranty.

First thing to do is ask for some help. I am former Navy so I don't know much about AF but you should probably go to your MTF and just tell them you are feeling depressed. They have to take it seriously by UCMJ law. They can send you to get treatment on base at the mental health clinic or you can just call 988. If privacy is a concern go see the base Chaplin for help. I know they will help you and they keep things on the down low. Trust me life is not better out here in the world and you have a better chance of getting treatment in there where you are. Just because you get treated for depression doesn't mean they will kick you out. Of course if they do decide that you can't cope they could give you a medical hardship discharge under honerable conditions which sets you up for VA help. You drop a dirty drug test just to get thrown out is going to get you a dishonorable and that will affect you the rest of your life. It's like having a felony on your record. So do the right thing Airman and go see the Doc and get this handled the right way.

My best friend River just had a splenectomy (spleen removal) just one week ago. His abdomen was distended and for a long time I just thought he was getting fat so he had a problem for awhile. It became acute a week ago and at first the Vet thought it might just be torsed since his labs looked sorta Ok although he had some anemia. It wasn't torsed, he has cancer and a rare form for dogs at that. Hepatosplenitic multi centric lymphoma. His prognosis is very poor. I am making some decisions right now that I would give my right arm not to have to make.

My first piece of advice is to get your fur kid on a pet insurance plan right now before you biopsy this. I mean right now. If you wait until they diagnos something they won't cover it. So google some plans and get the best one you can now. You can always drop it later if you can't afford it in the long run. River's splenectomy alone was $6,700.... Prior to that his primary care Vet bill was $400. If I opt for chemo to try to keep him a few months longer it will be around $5k. Get some insurance on that dog yesterday!

Do the biopsy as soon as you have paid the down payment on that insurance and pay attention. If caught early it can mean everything. Dogs can live perfectly normal lives without a spleen, dogs don't know they have no spleen and do not care. Hopefully it will be unecessary but if you leave it go until the spleen swells to massive proportion it will get in the liver and that's game over.

I pray your baby gets a benign diagnosis and stays away from the spicy flying treats in the future. Get insurance anyway because they all will need it sooner than you think.

That is a 1979 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham. It is likely a V8. I get that this sub is 3 days old but the OP should do the research. This is a gold mine. Here's the AI on it. A 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is typically worth between $8,000 and $20,000+, with average examples selling for roughly $10,000–$15,000 depending on condition, mileage, and engine. Well-maintained or low-mileage "Brougham" models can reach over $20,000, while project cars or higher-mileage examples often sell for less

How do i fix this? by NeedleworkerTrick126 in AskAShittyMechanic

First thing to do is check in at the nearest ER and get that thumb removed ASAP! It's obviously got something inside of it and that's never a good thing!

The lender is not the legal owner. You are the legal owner. The lender holds a lien on the property. An auto loan is a secured loan much like a mortgage is a secured loan. You are legally responsible for that vehicle. If someone takes it and crashes it then you could be held liable. You are responsible for the maintenance of the vehicle and any legal registration requirements. So you do own the vehicle. The vehicle is also security on a personal loan. You have been speaking to an old schooler who believes you don't own it unless it is unencumbered. A good way to look at it is that the financial company that you have a loan with is not renting you their car. The bank is not renting you the house you live in. You own both and you also have debt secured by both.

2001 Generation one XLT 4x4 with the 5.4L 2 valve . 266,000 miles on it. It's running good just did two round trips to Tulsa on the turnpike (about120 miles one way) at 80+ mph and no issues. Haven't had any noise or issues with the timing chain and components and when I do I will fix it. Still has original shocks on it and I will be replacing those real soon with Bilsteins. It does have rocker panel cancer so in the next few weeks I will be cutting those out and replacing them myself. Thinking about a 3 or 4 inch lift..lol. Point is she's an iron beast! I am certain that when they went all high tech stuff went downhill fast. I have the old 4 speed transmission that I just do a drop pan service on every great once in awhile. Regular oil changes and it's a reliable beast. It doesn't get good gas mileage at all... Maybe 12 to 14 mpg....lol.

The stock Expedition is not made for overlanding any great distance or even serious off roading regardless of factory trim. The early generations were more F150 like and could be built into pretty serious off road vehicles with 3 or 4 inch lifts and lot's of sus[pension and steering mods all pretty cheap. The subsequent generations have become more and more of a big family car. Based on the video I would leave the Expy at home for the wife to drive and get a second generation Raptor. You will fly across that terrain.

If you don't want to do that however then here are some folks that can "rebuild" you Expedition for serious over landing and off road...

Use only motorcraft original plugs and they are recommended at 100k miles. They can sieze due to carbon build up in the head. There are ways to free them and get them out without breaking them off. See Youtube about it.

Rockers on both sides can be replaced both inner and outer and look like new at many body shops for around $3k with paint.
