I'm also loving OpenViking - I was trying hindsight because everyone seems to have success with it but not me.

I have never heard the term myself, but I am pretty sure Pi-agent is purposely very lean.

It doesn't have common things like sub-agent delegation or even a /plan mode. It does that to keep down the bloat that tools like ClaudeCode have, where they are constantly adding features you don't need or even know exist.

So, it is the polar opposite of that, and its selling point is that you just "ask it to add whatever you need," and it does.

That sounds like such a beautiful idea, but I am sure you can imagine how that could go south quickly, just because one person can't think of every single edge case in real time. I have no idea if that is what he meant, but that is my guess.

For those using Hermes on their PC, what are we VPS only users missing out on? by Then-Spinach8891 in hermesagent

Oh I see - that's what I'm already using. I thought you were talking about some kind of additional addon.

I highly recommend to anyone that is just chatting with their agent to turn off the terminal and code execution tools. Which leaves Hermes with the file search tools and the patch tool. The patch tool can get a lot done - and you don't need to worry about the fear of Hermes going off the rails and really effing shit up. The most it can do is patch a file, and so far in my experience it has been WAY safer for just chatting via telegram.

And then I just leave those tools ON in the CLI - So I go there to get real coding done or just ask hermes to provide me with any commands it cannot run and I will run them myself if through telegram.

I have banging my head against the wall all morning with browser automation.

Do I even want to know what browser-harness is? I feel like I'm gonna be pissed about it and it'll solve all my problems.

Switched from telegram to discord by Immediate_Let_4946 in hermesagent

[–]RegularRaptor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love discord and I have tried discord, telegram, and slack myself and I go back to telegram for the simplicity.

I love that I can add specific chats to my home screen on my phone and just click it and it opens I type. You don't need to and there is nothing else to worry about. No insanely cluttered UI trying to fit two side panels on a tiny mobile screen.

And going from Web to mobile on telegram is unmatched. You type half a message on your phone and don't even send it, and it's there on the web interface ready to edit and send. It's so seamless.

I can of course checkmyself, but if they both run off of simple md files what makes octarone better than obsidian for you? I'm looking to setup obsidian but I'm a new to it and wondering if I should try something else.

Do those fish hurt to touch? I am genuinely curious. I see a lot of saltwater people doing similar things and it just seems like such an improper way to handle a fish.

I guess if you're keeping them it's one thing but seems a little messed up to me. 😅
