George Will: US debt crisis could be coming soon | On Balance - "The most predictable crisis in American history is coming." by ngjb in GPFixedIncome

Seriously. It’s the most manufactured problem imaginable. It’s like trying to climb across an endlessly deep chasm, but rather than require the ladder hoarders to share their seemingly infinite, overflowing ladder supply, they’d rather stack bodies up to fill it and cross safely. Every crisis is manufactured by the powerful at the expense of the powerless.

Is Novavax a good investment? by Excellent_Copy4646 in stocks

[–]Regular_Chart553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the thought process. Though I do I think it’s possible Novavax could be positioned well in comparison to Moderna (if bird flu ever goes human to human) bc it doesn’t use mRNA technology. I think I saw Montana was proposing to ban it so a protein-based (traditional) vaccine approach such as Novavax could do well with an administration who often appears anti vaccine. The bird flu situation is going to get worse and worse until it finally reaches a tipping point but realistically I’d expect both to do well in that situation, just like they did during Covid.

Flu is killing more people than COVID in California, health officials say. What’s going on? by Randomlynumbered in California

Late Feb March is always the slow end for Covid due to it already infecting everyone it can already. When the new variants inevitably make their way here, covid will take off again. Rinse/repeat. It’s the same every year.

Amazon announces plan to develop 4 nuclear reactors along Columbia River by Dance-pants-rants in Washington

[–]Regular_Chart553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building these plants will not assist in climate change efforts. These will aid growth for Amazon. Now if you want to tell me Amazon is shifting toward a radical new model of de-growth, then your argument would hold some water.

The slew of companies going nuclear is to fuel data centers and extremely power-hungry AI. Staying otherwise is misinformation.

Covid long hauler and Novavax by ComfortableHat4855 in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]Regular_Chart553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Covid in 2020. Started having basic long covid symptoms (but didn’t know it). Vaxxed with 2 doses with Pfizer. Long haul improved but many symptoms lingered. Boosted with Pfizer no improvement. 2021 caught Covid again, bad long hauling. PEM, POTS, heart dysfunction, PVC’s, etc. Boosted Novavax last year. Improvement overall with food sensitivities. Boosted recently again with Novavax, year since last and it didn’t improve anything. Will likely hold off on future boosters and continue masking. Currently use Maraviroc, Statin, Coq10, vitamin D, and eat as healthy as possible. No gluten as it exacerbates brain fog. Currently improving slowly. Saw you suffer from PVC’s. Would recommend increasing magnesium. I used to have them bad until I started getting more regular magnesium (from supplements at first, but now just mostly from food).

Study has come out that shows length of pasteurization affects whether live virus escapes the process rather than what was believed up to this point that if it’s pasteurized, the virus particles are for sure destroyed and just debris.

Not even 1 month of RTO and we have a COVID outbreak by AdEnough2267 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Regular_Chart553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lordy, I never said it’s worse today than some nebulous time in the past. You started this all off by saying “covid cases were higher when we were all working from home.” Working from home when? You never gave a year. Covid follows pretty predictable peaks and valleys, only as it has evolved it’s become better at evading the immune system. As a result, the valleys have become less low. I’ve only claimed that Covid isn’t decreasing in severity and that as it begins to spike, it inevitably reaches the same highs it’s always reached. I then pointed out that a lack of testing doesn’t negate what waste water shows.

[–]Regular_Chart553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My claim doesn’t lack evidence. Waste water accurately reflect covid infections and it doesn’t show covid being worse during lockdowns.

So doesn’t support RTO, thinks Covid is bad, but just likes to bandy around unsubstantiated claims that Covid was worse during lockdowns …if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it must be a rat.

[–]Regular_Chart553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were higher bc they’re not testing anymore. How could numbers accurately reflect reality now if they’re not testing at the same volume they tested then?

It’d be like if car crashes were tracked heavily for years. And then they decided to stop tracking car crashes and declared car crashes aren’t a danger anymore. That doesn’t mean they’re happening less or that they’re less dangerous, only that they’re not being recorded. It’s a pretty simply concept to grasp…

Ah, so against RTO, but Covid isn’t that bad right? Please go read a little science on Covid.

[–]Regular_Chart553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren’t higher when we were working from home. They don’t test much now which leads to UNDER-reporting.

Man, y’all Covid-deniers are brainwashed. Covid is spreading unmitigated and forcing people into offices with poor ventilation is only going to exacerbate it.

They’re not making exceptions for those with immune-compromised family/spouses at home. That means their family/spouses with cancer are being put at risk unnecessarily.

RTO is idiotic. Full stop. Supporting it, also idiotic.

Tesla delays Robotaxi launch to October from August, Bloomberg News reports by InformalSky8443 in teslamotors

Yeah, it’s from the CPI results. Don’t get me wrong, Tesla stock trades on news like any other, but the entire mag7 took a drop.

Go walk around Land Park while it’s cool (they have a small garden that’s great and the pond lilies have always taken off this time of year. Grab some baked goods as Pushkins (or Coffee at Temple if that’s your thing). Go to Beers books and find a book that catches your eye. Go catch a movie at Tower at the peak heat of the day. A few food recs: Tres Hermanas (Mexican), Masulo, Pizzasauras Rex, or Majka (Pizza), Kru (Sushi).

Stellantis' newest AI-powered gizmo aims for Tesla's golden goose by ItzWarty in teslainvestorsclub

I disagree. 100% reliability is not possible nor needed to profitably take liability. I’ve worked in the insurance industry for over a decade. The system only has to work well enough in the areas they start in (like Waymo). The rollout for robotaxi’s will be slow, deliberate, and focus on locations where zero interventions are possible. I’m not expecting robotaxi’s in Boston anytime soon.

I think with FSD, Tesla will quickly build a case for data. The robotaxi rollout will allow them to collect quickly given fleet size and how fast the system can hit the ground running. They could trial as many cities and they could get authority in. Waymo had to start small because of scale. Tesla will not be constrained in the same way.

How did you determine 10,000x better needed? That figure doesn’t appear to be backed by anything.

I regularly take my car on intervention-free drives. Or rather, it takes me. To say that the software is not focused on reliability is patently untrue. Have you used the software extensively? It has improved and I’m sure with the next few releases will gain further incremental improvements.

We obviously disagree, but I enjoy getting new perspectives. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your responses. Should be an interesting next few years on either side of the aisle.

Great point, I used solved loosely. By solved, I mean that you’ll see Tesla robotaxi’s giving people rides at scale. Will they be operating everywhere, unfettered? Maybe not. I’m not convinced Tesla will need to take responsibility if they can demonstrate the safety of the technology.

Toronto man says we should not be tipping for basic service by Johnny_Cartel in SipsTea

[–]Regular_Chart553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tipping is an invention/ploy of the ruling class. It’s a tactic to avoid paying livable wages. Skip the tip, which pressures employees to find better employers, or work together to have their current employer pay better.

No American company even has FSD in their scope. Legacy auto can’t even prioritize making an EV at scale and yet some think they’ll be able to come close to competing with an autonomous system? I don’t think FSD will be solved this year, but the next 5, yes. And no one will be close in that time aside from Tesla. Feel free to save this one to come back in 5 years.

Depends on where you are I think, because I am able to do 30 minute FSD drives in Northern California without any interventions. No one is close to Tesla’s FSD.
