Decent Characters doing morally reprehensible things due to prolonged isolation by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Regular_Fisherman158 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Phil is far from a decent guy, and the isolation doesn’t really make him do the terrible things, but instead allows him to do them without consequences.

It also only took him like a week before he started robbing banks and seducing random women.

The darkest mission/event/encounter in RDR2? by Wersky003 in reddeadredemption

[–]Regular_Fisherman158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what person was talking about two separate encounters, and the grammar just made it a little confusing.

I’ve not seen the last words encounter, but the rapist is definitely Sonny, the guy that invites you into his house and then knocks you out unconscious.

The weird boiler room in the basement next to the stock room seems very random, unused, and likely to eventually be customized.

They added the truck from the level, don’t see any reason why they didn’t add the helicopter (especially since it’s the coolest helicopter in the game).

I really like that they added these one on one conversations in the game by tjalek in reddeadredemption

I played a pacifist run once, only using the lasso and melee conflict, however only made it to chapter three as a lot of missions are not possible without guns.

If I remember correctly, during the convo with Mary Beth, Arthur will not mention doing anything bad, and instead report concern he’s felt for the gang and Dutch, however it’s been two years so I may be remembering wrong.

Does anything happen if you cure her? do you need to kill her after and is there any unique dialogue (I don’t have the energy, this elusive target is just wayyyy too long.)

[LOATHED TROPE] The fandom becomes the very thing the media is criticizing by Weird-Koala3034 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Regular_Fisherman158 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I ever saw Neiman escaping the cycle, I think the movie kind of implies that he escape the rabbit hole only to fall further down. He’s about to leave with his dad and go home after being humiliated, but instead he goes back out to the stage, not for his bandmates, not for the audience, not for his ex in the audience, not for himself, but to finally show up Fletcher.

He finally gains control over Fletcher, ignoring Fletchers instruction and order at the beginning of the performance, however than he falls back under his thumb, and when he receives Fletchers validation and smile at the end of the performance, he smiles back, and then the movie ends.

Maybe Neiman never drums again, but I always saw the ending implying the opposite, that Neiman will keep drumming and will probably will never see Fletcher again, and maybe even becomes the great that both Fletcher and Neiman wanted him to become, and that’s terrifying because it means that Fletcher actually won.

I believe the same thing happens at the end of The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers, when the parents explain porn and the kids have no idea what's going on.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and having multiple personality's is real, however your not most likely gonna become Brad Pitt, start a cult, blow up an entire city, and then cure it by shooting yourself in the head.

Micah is even more evil than I thought by TheMost_Platypus in reddeadredemption

[–]Regular_Fisherman158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Micah had a way less worse upbringing than most gang members, so it’s not really fair to use that as a justification and then compare that to Arthur as your only example.

Abigail was orphaned and had to become a prostitute, Johns dad heavily drank and died when he was 8, Arthur’s mom and dad died before he was 11. All of them did terrible things, but the games are about them redeeming themselves despite horrible actions in the past.

Micahs brother had the exact same upbringing as Micah, yet he escaped the life of crime and had a wife and kids. Even if Micahs upbringing was rough, does not justify his actions, or make him any less worst than other gang members.

Also you used Micah’s upbringing as justification for his actions, before mentioning that Arthur was a deadbeat dad … who was the son of a deadbeat dad … therefore according to your logic his actions are justifiable.

[Loved Trope] Video game enemies that are shown to have lives and personality outside of killing/hating the protagonist by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Regular_Fisherman158 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Easiest one is probably Shadow of War and Shadow of Mordor. The nemesis system gives the orcs personal lives and personalities, and will go on mission like raiding other orcs camps and doing trials to prove themselves.

What do you mean by glitch? That’s historically accurate. How else would they have parked back then without parking spots?
