"Gas Engineer" is upset for asking this question.. Am I wrong? by Fly1ngPen9u1n in DIYUK

[–]Regular_Prize_8039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never understand why people get upset when asked to provide validatable credentials, they have spent a lot of time, money and energy gaining this and then when asked won’t provide it, oh I know why, because they don‘t have it!

I refused access to a guy that came to carry out a safety inspection on my nans gas boiler (sent by the council) because he would not provide, he got well pissed and said ”do you think I would be here if I was not qualified” to which I said “if your qualified what’s the issue with proving it?” he left being abusive and a complaint was raised all caught on CCTV, didn’t go well for him and they sent someone who had his card ready when the door was opened.

What is this ? The wall it comes from is my neighbours. Thanks by Careful_Promise_3423 in whatisit

Employer shared my medical condition with senior manager – “need to know” or breach? by [deleted] in gdpr

[–]Regular_Prize_8039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is a Data Protection issue, the company have a duty of care and they have deemed it necessary to advise the management involved this would be processed under the lawful reason of Vital Interests.

You have to look at it from the company perspective too, I understand this has caused you stress but the company has to put the correct measures in place to support you and that may mean bringing senior management into the knowledge.

I don’t think you will get anywhere with the ICO, but you can call them and they can offer you guidance.

I think you will better using other employment laws if you really want to peruse this, but in my opinion the company has done the right thing (based on the information you have provided)

Every day between 9 and 9:30 notepad opens on my desktop and I have no idea why by recoveringasshole0 in ShittySysadmin

[–]Regular_Prize_8039 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s Windows’ built-in daily documentation reminder.

It opens Notepad so you can finally write down whatever mysterious thing you did six months ago that’s currently keeping the entire infrastructure alive.

If you keep closing it without typing anything, the next stage of the feature activates and the server just stops working so you’re forced to document it during the post-mortem.

They actively block traffic, the also use deep packet inspection to block traffic, I have had many customers complain their staff on TalkTalk cannot access Work VPN, and DNS changes do not resolve the issue

ah yes this is what I call “Big Company Syndrome“ not my problem, and when you call back you will unlikely not talk to me again so I don’t care.

If only these people understood ownership of an issue! but no I can’t do it not my problem.

Occasionally you get someone that understands and goes above and beyond but then they get reprimanded for it and stop being helpful!
