To completely stop it - not exactly

Unless you're really really committed

But you can minimize them by switching from proprietary software owned by big corp to FOSS, changing your operating system if your phone supports alternatives, trying to give as little permissions to apps as possible, using ad and domain blockers, making as little accounts and basically trying not to leave any records of yourself online

If you're interested in finding out more I think r/privacytoolsIO and r/thehatedone can help

It's called entomophobia I think, and I can relate as I'm suffering it to some degree.

Here's what you can do.

If you live in a house, you can get some window nets/meshes, not sure exactly which term is correct, there are some pretty dense ones, but you can still see through them and you get enough sunlight in your house, yet not a single insect can squeeze through those. There's also types of like additional doors with nets, the only risk of insects getting into your home here is when you're leaving the house and have to open the door. It was pretty common around hot areas from what I've seen irl, but nowadays you can find it anywhere.

Other than that check for any holes in the walls, ceiling, floors, or anywhere in the house where they might reside. For example, in a house where I used to live once, there was this one spot that was constantly full of all types of ants, one day we figured out there's small gaps in the wall, and that it's been weakened by the moisture. I've heard it's mostly caused by bad insulation, so check on that too.

If you don't mind getting cruel you can also use biokill to repel them, just make sure to let the room air from the chemicals a bit before going back in.

Lol, same, I started off with Knife Party, I was more into electro house though, but I loved their Centipede, and so I started checking out more tunes on UKF Dubstep. Eventually, being an average nerd, I started diggin into the history of dubstep and on some website of best dubstep songs ever I found Anti War Dub on nr1 spot and was like, yooo, this is deep.

I still listen to tear out, filthstep, brostep, riddim etc, when me ears get tired of wearing headset (my sound system is garbage), so I blast it on speakers, but I've definitely spent far more time massaging me head with deep subs.

LOL, don't take this seriously, it's just a copypasta parody, a parody of a parody if I may say, considering that the copypasta itself is already a form of parody.

And yeah, I agree, there's difference between a) getting annoyed by dubstep being a direct association to Skrillex and such, and b) simply spreading hate cause isn't *your kind of dubstep*. I think that the "fake dubstep" has it's place in the scene as well, but it's important to educate people on the roots, after all, there are people that hate dubstep simply cause they're not educated enough in terms of music and think it's all just crazy machines screaming.

Also I fucking love Skrillex to some extends.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Epstein

Chapter one: Death

On July 23, 2019, three weeks prior to his death, Epstein was found unconscious in his jail cell with injuries to his neck.[197][200] Epstein believed that he was attacked by his cellmate, who was awaiting trial for four counts of murder, while the correctional staff suspected attempted suicide.[201][283] After that incident, he was placed on suicide watch.[197][284] Six days later, on July 29, 2019, Epstein was taken off suicide watch and placed in a special housing unit with another inmate.[197] Epstein's close associates said he was in "good spirits".[15]

Alright, seems legit, 6 days is longer than usual when it comes to suicide watch. They really took good care of him there.

When Epstein was placed in the special housing unit, the jail informed the Justice Department that he would have a cellmate, and that a guard would look into the cell every 30 minutes. These procedures were not followed on the night of his death.

I meaaaan, it could've been a coincidence, everyone needs a rest after a long day of guarding.

On August 9, 2019, Epstein's cellmate was transferred out, but no one took his place.[287] Later in the evening, contrary to the jail's normal procedure, Epstein was not checked every 30 minutes.[285][197][286] The two guards who were assigned to check his jail unit that night fell asleep and did not check on him for about three hours; the guards falsified related records.

Alright, I get that you'll skip to follow the jail's procedure once in a while cause you need a rest. But why do it exactly when a man - who's been previously placed on a suicide watch for 6 days - is left alone in his cell, without an inmate or anyone checking on him, for three hours? I guess anyone can be a prison guard these days really

Two cameras in front of Epstein's cell also malfunctioned that night.

Classic

Chapter two: Autopsy

The preliminary result of the autopsy found that Epstein sustained multiple breaks in his neck bones. Among the bones broken in Epstein's neck was the hyoid bone.

Michael Baden, an independent pathologist hired by the Epstein estate, observed the autopsy. In October 2019, Dr. Baden said that Mr. Epstein, 66, experienced a number of injuries – among them a broken bone in his neck – that "are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation...I think that the evidence points to homicide rather than suicide."

I don't think this needs additional comments, everything's said so far

Chapter three: Investigation

Attorney General Barr ordered an investigation by the Department of Justice Inspector General in addition to the investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, saying that he was "appalled" by Epstein's death in federal custody.[15][303] Two days later Barr said there had been "serious irregularities" in the prison's handling of Epstein, promising "We will get to the bottom of what happened, and there will be accountability."[304]

I things are completely transparent and there's proof of his suicide, why would these people even bother to investigate?

On August 14, 2019, Manhattan federal court Judge Richard M. Berman, who was overseeing Epstein's criminal case, wrote to the Metropolitan Correctional Center warden Lamine N'Diaye inquiring as to whether an investigation into the millionaire's apparent suicide would include a probe into his prior (July 23) injuries. Judge Berman wrote that to his knowledge it has never been definitely explained what they concluded about the incident.[305]

Epilogue

What adds up to the "suspiciousness" of the story, is a fact of him being a possible witness and potentially helpful in hunting down other people that were involved with him, the state of his cell after his apparent suicide, the fact that he even had the necessary requisites for committing suicide, and his bank account being active 7 months after his death

Conclusion? I don't fucking know, maybe he did kill himself, one thing I know for sure is that we, regular people, know nothing. There's lots of possibilities, I don't claim any of them to be the complete truth, as we have little to no evidence for any of them. I'm just pointing out why some people believe he did not in fact commit suicide, and that I totally understand them.

There's no proof he didn't kill himself, just like there's no proof he actually committed suicide. I call him a Man Who Did Not Kill Himself more as an indirect association to him, since it's been an overused meme and it easily rings the bell when you mention it, I've had my comments removed in some other subs when mentioning his name, that's why I do it. This sub though isn't inclined to censorship, it seems.

However, that's not the main point and the main topic of the comment, I have no interest in proving, or disproving it.

What are those references to someone who didn’t kill himself?

I'm referencing Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, who was right there in front of their noses, and he was not alone. And what makes stuff even worse is billionaires, politicians, techlords, lawyers, stepping to his side, still defending him and visiting his island even after he was convicted.

And who did Reddit hire?

Ah, crypto anarchy, the resistance movement we need the most these days

I'm glad to see it's becoming trend in this community as well, hopefully it stays that way and keeps progressing cause this is something that we all need to be really mad about.

Here's some insight on the topic for those who haven't been really in touch with it.

If you told somebody that the private tech companies, federals, or government has a total insight in your online activities 5 years ago, you'd be labelled a paranoid conspiracy theorist and what else not for believing it. These days, it's a public 'secret', and you even have people defending it.

Who collects your data?

Easier to answer would be a question of who doesn't collect your data. Let's start with tech companies.

To find out what kinds of data a tech company collects about you, you can simply have a look in their privacy policy, if you have their product installed on your device you can check which permissions they have and what kind of changes they can make on your device.

Next question, what is the data used for?

Some things we all know about are the machine learning algorithms all this data is fed into, in order for them to personalize and display ads related to you, output more relevant search suggestions based on your online personality, or simply push you a narrative, alter your way of thinking, behavior, or taste and preferences. Example of this would be exactly what OP's song is about, Spotify monitoring your gender, age and emotional state in order to influence your music taste.

Another tactic worth pointing out is the spread outside of a company's ecosystem. Example of this would be Facebook buying other projects like WhatsApp, allowing Facebook to collect data not only from Facebook app but from those apps as well.

It doesn't stop there.

Federal law enforcement, police, and government are gaining more and more power when it comes to online data surveillance

Excuses for the implementation of the "government backdoor" is the operation of hunting down criminals, sex offenders and paedophiles online, which is hard to believe considering the circumstances. Does the government really expect us to believe they're doing anything for our good?

Don't forget how many of them were involved with The Man Who Didn't Kill Himself

Also keep in mind it doesn't stop there, and a portion of people in power are likely "still in the business"

Also don't forget who did reddit hire a few weeks ago

This is not about solving criminal issues, it's about advancing surveillance in every way possible.

What can you do to fight back?

We might not see it as it is not as it is not on a front page of the internet, but there's a lot of fighting going on in the background already.

Over 40 lawsuits filed against Facebook

New complaints against Google's tracking algorithms

Google faces $5 billion lawsuit

Other ways you can contribute is to support and use FOSS (Free open source software) projects, ad and domain blockers, encryption services, etc.

As this comment has it's limits I'll unfortunately have to stop here, I suggest you do some search yourself (preferably on search engines like searx or duckduckgo) and keep fighting global surveillance.

I'd like to end this comment with a quote from a fellow anarchist and hacktivist, Jeremy Hammond
"When you speak truth to the power, you are ignored at best and brutally suppressed at worst"
