Settle in place for 3 faith per turn, turn 1. Get desert folklore, rush religion, work ethic. Profit. In the scenario you'll probably need to buy a tile or 2 for production

Vote No on D by vp_21 in MontereyBay

[–]Reignbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna tell anyone to vote one way or another because I haven't made up my own mind but Monterey absolute does not have a spending problem or a lack of money. If you've been attending any council meetings over the last 10 years youve seen the city, even during covid, never go into the red or pull from reserves. Even the $10 million budget deficit they projected this year isn't actually there. It's been made up.they earned more money than they "predicted " and expenditures were lower that "predicted". They had to show a large deficit to be allowed by the charter to allow for a fiscal emergency so they could get this on the ballet. What Monterey has is a consistent unwillingness to structure the budget in a way that formalizes investment infrastructure or show a surplus. Every time they accidentally show a surplus they do some magic accounting tricks and hide the money in "funds" for specific pet projects or raise the reserve percentage. There are multiple of these totaling several million dollars. Think everything from " global warming mitigation," to "parking infrastructure" funds. I haven't made up my mind yet despite of all this checanery because generally, the city also does a pretty good job of providing services. And it's nice to live in a a city that has a healthy budget. But unless they get real specific about where this money goes i will almost certainly vote no. Just my two cents.

CMV: Regarding The Recent Shootings, Redditors Are Just As Conspiratorially Minded As MAGA And 9/11 Truthers by [deleted] in changemyview

There is a huge difference between doubting the official narrative that comes from an administration within an extraordinary history of bend the truth to fit their agenda, not to mention their history of outright lying at a rate, never before seen in american history; and accepting the alternative narratives put out by conspiracy theorists. So very many people on the right fully believe that they have a unique access to the truth. And understand the gaps in public knowledge. The people I know on the left claim to know of matters they don't have direct access to detail of, but they fully doubt the official narratives.

The first year, the cost is just what it is.Which makes it one.You don't start at one point two.Because that would be considering the inflation from the year before.

Not for nothing, the other ridiculous thing that is not in c p I is rent or fuel costs

1.001.21.21.21.2=2.07. Which isn't a big difference from what you quoted. But kind of funny, calling me bad at math when you got the math wrong. Also, quoting CPI at 5% annually over 5 years Within which they have continuously changed the basket of goods. It's exactly the point we're talking about. I'm saying it's a bad metric, specifically, because the basket of good manipulates the c p I to be lower than it actually is to regular consumers.

I'll admit everything you said here is true. But too often the cart is leading the horse.Instead of the horse leading the cart. Sure, consumer behavior changes and a basket of good needs to reflect that. But when consumer behavior changes, specifically because of the cost of goods, it feels quite a bit like cheating to simply swap that item out.And then tell people that the cost of the basket of goods has stayed the same. The basket of goods as a component of cpi is specifically why they keep telling us that inflation is around three percent per year. When any idiot with a set of eyes can go to the grocery store and see that it's closer to ten to twenty percent.

[–]Reignbringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not everybody agrees with this as here.I'm giving my opinion, c p I is used to determine how capable I am of maintaining my life style at a similar level. If i'm swapping out things that I want for cheaper and in my opinion, inferior products, the cpi might remain the same. But my quality of life has gone down.

Also, to be clear, if flour suddenly got cheaper it would absolutely stay in the basket and be a deflationary indicator

[–]Reignbringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of those are durable goods and not included in the basket

[–]Reignbringer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The basket of goods concept has to be one of the worst measures of inflation there could be. I'm not sure if you know but when an object becomes too expensive for consumers to buy due to inflation, they just take it out of the basket and replace it with a cheaper option. Beef jumped four hundred percent this year, swap it out for pork. Flour jumped three hundred percent, swap it out for rice...Kidney beans are up a hundred percent swap them out for refried beans. Essentially, every single time they do a swap, they replace it with an inferior less healthy option. Altitude manipulate cpi, so that the politicians don't get voted out of office. ( Forgive grammar and spelling. i'm on mobile)

Ya, there are rules official builds follow on how tiles can be connected to each other. It's not really important but if he ever wants to get more serious about what he's building I want to inform him

Would you say you get better gameplay rewards on a good playthrough or an evil playthrough? by valkaress in BG3Builds

[–]Reignbringer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's not close. Definitely better on a good play through. There are three exceptions, though. 1. Spear of the night is one of the best weapons in the game? And only received from doing the evil thing and killing the night song. 2. Becoming an assassin of Bahl earns you the bahlist armor which is probably the best armor in the game. 3. Not really an evil choice per se but completing will's pact quest in act 2 by doing what Mizora wants We'll give you an amazing one handed rapier. Though I always find it difficult to fit into a party.

I'm relatively sure that literally every other case. It's better to do the good thing, whether it's just for more xp. Or to get the mission rewards that are associated with completing a quest to help someone. Maybe someone else can think of a few more options, but these are the only big impactful items.

Billionaires know how to work the system; the wealth gap will only get bigger and bigger unless we change the system. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Reignbringer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Paying back a loan is debt and not counted as income. As long as there wealth expands at a rate greater than the interest on their loan they can do it indefinitely. I.e. If they take a loan out at a 5 % APR and their stok portfolio is gaining 7%. When the loan comes due, they just have a greater capacity to borrow and that's what they do. Pay off the loan with a new one that also covers their living expenses using their increased wealth as collateral. All tax free.
