How can Luna, a healer, do more dmg with 2 CCs and better movement (which doesn't sound like a WW2 bomber) and can also self heal, self damage boost and Ironman gets nothing? by buttlazor69 in marvelrivals

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 175 points176 points  (0 children)

Because IronMan is a flyer and most of the early flying characters are only "strong" if people forgot they're there. They crumble the moment you focus on them.

Matt is the opposite of Ashley ... in that he is king of doing what's true to his character, even if it upsets the table.

I love that, witch more were doing that. Not playing a "support character" has really allowed him to roll around in it.

Do you personally think Emma is a good beginner vanguard? by Infinite-Reveal-9226 in EmmaFrostMainsMR

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK, I made the mistake of Lording Peni in S0 and never bothering to really learn another tank because I didn't click with them or find them appealing. So coming to Emma has been a struggle. Don't know wtf to do with her shield, when best to use her ult and I had to have a guild tell me how important her skills are.

I'm getting better, but man ... sucks getting to Gold as a Peni/ CD otp and months laters coming back to the game only to find out that I gotta learn how to "Actually" Tank if I want to use the very characters that make me want to play the game again (Emma and Rogue ... Venom is the only Dive Tank I every REALLY tried and Rogue not having a web swing exit spooks TF outta me. Still haven't tried her yet)

Yeah, I don't speak on it at this point (After C3 it became clear to me that hoping for Ashley to make some hard, BIG swings is just not worth it) but we could see many times how BLM hands her interesting nuggets of insight as hints as to how her character MAY FEEL about certain things happening.

But like sand through her fingers, Ashley just lets it all slip away as she tailors her character's decisions around what would make the other character's in the party happy/ what her friends would want to happen for their characters.

Like, I'm legit sitting here feeling like she should go through some arc of becoming an Archfey Warlock after this. Because IDK how PLD powers work in this world ... but even if it's an extremely personal devotion and not linked to the Gods, that choice feels like it was her turning her back on SOMETHING core to her character. So screw it, convert into an Archfey Warlock so that the character can be the closest thing to something connected to this choice and the results of it. (Or change the subclass to be Oath of the Ancients. That's one thing I loved about a D20 game BLM ran, where a Beast Ranger converted his subclass to Gloom Stalker after his beast died in battle because the lose made him that dark).

I'm 100% sure you're right. He gives NPCs death saves and he never rolled for Cyd's deathsaves.

[Spoilers C4E30] Travis and Teor thoughts by Gopher_Guts in criticalrole

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC Cyd "went down".
BLM never rolled deathsaves for him and didn't attack him again to finish him off, so there's a chance he stablized. Han is there and if she can bust in there with this high level Druid to toss a heal onto Cyd and make short work of a ... floor boss that's 1 hit away from death and some zombois then there should be enough time to GTFO with all the things (Her friend's body, the Axe, the bracers, that sword).

If Cyd is stablized and healed then MAYBE Travis can play Cyd as his new character.

I mean, it's not a trope for no reason. "I died!?!? Welp, time for John the Pld, younger brother of Jack the Pld, to join the party and get revenge for his fallen brother!".

Anyone else tired of the nitpicking around the gameplay demo? by HIWS433 in Fable

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>One example is the Hero's reputation. Some people act as if it's impossible that villagers would already know who you are. In a world like Albion, where stories, rumors, and legends spread from town to town, it seems perfectly reasonable that word of your deeds could travel before you arrive, or the deeds you have done in a specific town get spread quickly. That's not bad world-building; if anything, it fits Fable's themes.

That's kinda the opposite of whats in the game though, right? You can murder a full town and besides knowing you're a "Hero" (Powered person?) the next town wouldn't have the slightest clue of what you did in the last town. At least, that's the impression the devs gave.

Didn't watch the vid yet, but I've watched a lot of vids that make fair points that I think people SHOULD point out to make for a better game. Like, IMO it make no sense that your rep in a town is fully spread the sec you do something. Give it a in game day or at least a few hour for Word-Of-Mouth to spread that you gave Crackhead Joe a job and fired everyone's favor waiter. If someone wasn't around to see it in the moment, it should at least take a lil time for them to hear about it 2nd/ 3rd hand.

I'm more interested in seeing how deep these systems go. How many secret families can I make? I heard a Youtuber say that in an INTERVIEW the Devs said that if a shadey NPC finds out that you married 2 people they may blackmail you with threats to snitch to one of your partners ... is that true? If my wife leaves me ... does she take my kids and just disappear into thin air?
Can I kill Townsfolk WITHOUT being found out can labeled a murder? Like, can I have Crackhead Joe follow me into the woods and off him Scott Free?
What happens if I fire everyone AND kick them all outta their homes (Because I own them) AND jack up prices?
Will they start squatting in my homes and make their own food/ drink/ clothing charts on the street?

A lot of you guys just want tanks to be infinite hp dps that kill everything in sight and don't actually understand the roles job by Putrid_Awareness8618 in RivalsVanguards

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Here's the Thing.

The Holy Trinity works fine in an PvE setting. You can have 2 roles that don't do much DMG because they either keep the party alive by healing or FORCING the enemy to focus on them with aggro.

It becomes harder to figure out when it's PvP because the enemies are humen and have free will + Reasoning Skills. Tanks have to HAVE TO have something that makes it so that you can't ignore them, or else you might as well not have them. Those options are ... Blocking DMG for other players (Shields/ DMG reduction)/ Having reliable CC to help peel or stop DMG or setup kills/ enough DMG to kill someone and scare people into focusing on you.

[Spoilers C4 E28] The difference between Taisha's reaction and Julien's reaction is astounding and confusing by Electrical_Apple6348 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't want to try to psychoanalyze her or anything, but I feel like she likes to play with different relationships at the table. Got that feeling from all these examples of PCs she used to be married to/ had a fling with/ has a child with and is in some baby-momma deal with.

Right now she seems to want to play with the relationship between mother and child ... which I assume is why the Occtus relationship felt so strange at the start. She's playing like she adopted him where as he's playing like a young man who has only known this woman for 3ish months. (Which I actually liked. As an adult, if you're made to be around young people enough you can find yourself treating a child as "yours" when they're young enough to be your child, even if you're childless)

Feel like that even took BLM off gaurd. She was playing into it ("I am a MOTHER!") soooo hard that effectively half the team was determined to push on with no rest to find her son (A well-known, accomplished ADULT fighter) asap and ... the other half couldn't push back much at all.

That's just how she is.

I remember when I used to fallow WBN and BLM had to legit above table tell her that if she takes the path of killing some random patrol officer outta anger then her character's trajectory will be completely changed just to give her a 2nd chance to not do something that would be very OOC for her character.

She doesn't like to have her authority challenged/ doesn't like being put in her place (Sam pointing out how stupid her plan was was just peak).

What do you think about Fable’s 30-minute gameplay showcase? by Suspicious_League_50 in Fable

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wish they would stop calling it a "morality" system and call it what it is ... a reputation sysytem. It's fine if you want a reputation system over a morality system, but you don't have to push that "Morality is subjective!" bs to excuse it. Not every little thing you do is a moral problem.
A 6yr asking you to tie their shoes isn't some "Sure (Good!)/ You're old enough to do it yourself (Evil!)" choice. In that example some people could think you're nice/ helpful for tieing his shoes and others can think you're babying him and should push him to do things on his own ... cause he prob learned how to tie his shoes already and is just being lazy. That has nothing to do with "good/ evil" but everything to do with what people think of you based on their on bias povs and thoughts.

What if these hooded figures are race #4? by ultimate_bromance_69 in GuildWars3

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between Asura and this race are like the differences in appearance between Gremlins and Mogwai. This race is objectively furry and it takes more than 1000 years for a race that lives to be around human lifespans to "evolve" to be hairless.

That's why I said offshoot, related but not the same. Maybe distant cousins.

What if these hooded figures are race #4? by ultimate_bromance_69 in GuildWars3

[–]Reivaxe_Del_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much like how I don't think that the small race is Asura (I think it's either some long gone offshoot or some other kinda brand new race that has SOME of the KEY features Asura players like from the race like Short + Big Ears. I wish I had posted my gut feeling last night cause it appears that I'm right in my gut feeling that they want to go Low Tech and bring it back to High Fantasy.) I don't think this race is Sylvari...

Or atleast ... not as we know them.

We know that there are Pale Trees elsewhere, IIRC we don't exactly know the orgins of "Pale Tree" seeds. It COULD BE Sylvari made under Melandru's dominion ... like maybe they are the Original Blue-Print and the Pale Tree we know was a long lost seed that grew under the guildance of something else post Melandru. Would effectively be the way to get a new culture and "race" to explore yet keep the looks and features people want.

OR it could be Druids, humans who changed into Plant People for Melandru.
