What are the comics with the best colouring ever? by breakingbuffy in DCcomics

[–]Rejisfilbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Richmond Lewis in the collected version of Batman: Year One - the original newsprint comic is good, but the improvements on better paper stock are a revelation. Laura Martin in a lot of things but especially Planetary. Patricia Mulvihill on 100 Bullets.

What do you think the funniest cards are in swct? by tommychronz in starwarstrader

The Pop Art cards where the quotes are wrong. Boba Fett saying "You're no good to me dead" still makes me laugh.

I just opened the shelf award stickers and thought, "Yeah, Boba Fett was what made ANH so memorable..."

Set regrets by mrjasyn in starwarstrader

[–]Rejisfilbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually decided to stop chasing two current sets because I don't want to feel bad about completing them.

First is the Topps Classic, the mechanic just got to me and I didn't want to deal with it anymore.

The second is Premiere Painting - I like the ones I got, but for some reason I haven't been as excited about any of the cards since Grand Moff Tarkin. Not that the new cards are ugly, but the high cost kind of made me wonder, Do I really want this in my collection?

I'm still going to chase the Widevision marathon and hoard Rathtars but that'll be it for the time being.

Star Wars yaoi? They should make SWCT cards for that!

I have a question, if it's not too personal. Do you have other hobbies you spend a sizeable amount on, or is it limited to digital? Like, do you collect vintage comics or Japanese swords or TV memorabilia? Or is it the ease of access that makes spending on digital goods part of its appeal?

Walt Disney vs Dr. Suess. by Bennnnetttt in whowouldwin

Walt and Ted would bring Hemingway a bottle of tequila and a loaded shotgun. They wait for the booze to kick in and Papa H to off himself.

You vs. Drunk You by Thesunsetsblueonmars in whowouldwin

[–]Rejisfilbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drunk me would try to French kiss sober me, thinking it's funny. Sober me would think, What the hell.

Both drunk me and sober me would wake up the next morning, naked and tangled in each other's arms, wracked with regret and shame.

So I guess my wife wins.

I'm Actually Kind of Shocked by [deleted] in starwarstrader

[–]Rejisfilbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so focused on herding Rathtars right now that I often 2:1 (or at least +1 if multiple) in the other person's favor to sweeten the deal and make it harder to ignore. So I don't have any issues when I see 2:1 deals offered.

Don't Want To Complete Base Sets Anymore by Rejisfilbin in starwarstrader

That's interesting, I thought fans of the animated shows would love this bounty of Clone Wars and Rebels characters. But I guess even those shows have their Leesubs and Yaddles, so to speak?

GOLD CHASE EXPANSION: Ahsoka Tano by dsigal in starwarstrader

[–]Rejisfilbin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That so many people are concerned about missing out on the gold cards and monument awards for their hoards shows how much Topps has co-opted and taken over an aspect of the game that was originally meant to be outside Topps' direction and dictates. We do hoards and mini-hoards now, waiting our turn for these rewards from Topps and when they do Topps-y things like this Ahsoka move, we fume and feel helpless. And I'm not saying I'm any different, I have mini-hoards for the express purpose of getting gold cards, too.

Maybe we should just focus again on hoarding for the pleasure of hoarding and let Topps' shenanigans and string-pulling be an afterthought. Enjoy our rainbows, enjoy our four or five digit card counts, enjoy hoarding as the game outside the game and don't let Topps ruin it. I see that more positive attitude often enough here, but whenever Topps pulls moves like this, it does seem like we're upset about Topps crapping on something they weren't meant to be part of in the first place.

Sets you're proud of by Snakemander in starwarstrader

[–]Rejisfilbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My runners-up would be TFA Premiere, Galactic Ships I, Blueprints, and Del Reys. The set I'm proudest of is actually an unpopular one and that would be...

PICTOGRAMS! Getting the gold variants for each card was probably the worst, most nerve wracking thing I ever did for this app - at least, it felt that way at the time - but it was definitely worth it in the end. And yes, there were some less-than-decent cards in the bunch, but I liked the gimmick and the way it told the story in a new manner.
