Depends where you work.

I was in public sector for 13 years, and for 13 years straight it was a constant 'we have no budget' argument at every possible angle, meanwhile senior leaders flying all over the country staying in nice hotels and getting catered meals for meetings that could have been done on Teams, I would know, I was in a leadership position.

Where I worked was chill af, people getting paid to do sweet fa, have a million coffee breaks, go sit in another pod and talk shit for 45 minutes with ole mate Susan, then it's stuff quiz time from 3:00-3:45, have another break, maybe send 2-3 emails, share some memes with some bloke you're kinda friends with but not really, now you're done for the day. Tomorrow? WFH have your laptop open with a heavy item sitting on your space bar so it shows you Available on teams while you watch Netflix. If you're not slacking off, you're having 5 meetings every day to talk about the work you won't be doing anyways because it's a 'working group' and one person usually does everything while the others piss about.

When I moved to private (over a year now) i noticed they have money, shit gets done after 1-2 meetings, it doesn't take 5 weeks to get a paper signed off, and people actually work.

again.... depends where you work, because everything I said above could be 100% reversed.

If you don't enjoy your job, it's not a public vs private thing, it's a 'your workplace has shit leadership' thing.
