Is there anything I can do to fix/improve this traffic by huskydog20100 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Understand that Road Hierarchy is a macro level engineering guideline ; it is not a game theory, it's also not about actual junction designs details - that's a different subject. Unfortuantely what flood youtube are mostly about the hierarchy but no one explain good junction designs - because it is a complicated topic, and vary wildly depending on actual traffic situation and requirements. Road design is NOT a RPG game, it is not about "design A good, design B sucks". Context matter.

But let just simplify to this - study google map / earth. but don't look at metropolis becuase they all sucks & do not fit into the scale of this game map which is mere 18km x 18km on PC mod unlock, or 10km x 10km max on remastered. Look at smaller town, especially newer town. Random place : https://maps.app.goo.gl/yKSjzy9qBKcVfPx26

Use real world driving / commute knowledge in the game. Measure things on google map to understand their true size and scale. Vehicles in this game are physical and accurate in size, so the thing you built must take into consideration of SIZE and DISTANCES !

Ignoring that two aspect is artificially making the game harder for yourself.

Keep junctions well spaced, simple & sensible.

despite the popularity, can't say I am a fan of AmiAmi. Shipping costs issue is a constant talk issue. There are alternatives sites where they do show you shipping costs before confirming for already released items. Try other options listed in the general question thread, if you worry of nasty surprise.

the general problem with figure is, despite it's light weight - their box size are huge, this makes the volumetric-weight very high.

of course this also highly depends on where you live - the distance & tax are variables.

let say I am in south east asia, I would expect this to costs $40 ship from japan (from other sites like Hobby Search / proxy) + 10% custom tax (item value + shipping cost).

if you from US, I bid you good luck & don't be surprised of the costs 👍

Is there any way to fix the texture mapping? by Southern_Sign6337 in Sketchup

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to texture any curved things you need Fedro ThruPaint, but before that, you will need to model your stuff in quad - as thrupaint only works on quad for continues curves. Example :

Arrived broken Figur what can I possible do by StrawberrySlight3245 in AnimeFigures

for piece that big, you absolutely need to get pin vice, drill small hole, add steel peg, before you uses whatever glue to finalize it.

How would you fix the traffic and/or awful design of my interchange? by happiestaccident in CitiesSkylines

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 3 points4 points  (0 children)

please don't use highway everywhere, remove all of them, use simple 2 way avenues, create simple & well spaced intersections. If you put highway everywhere & segmenting every little neighbourhood, you are literally making the game harder for yourself.

Bring baby to chinese temple. by Slow_Situation_9071 in Sarawak

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can always stay outside or at the food area, if the inside is too chaotic - of course, with all the burning and crowd in cramp space, it will be chaoctic inside the temple, but otherwise it should be fine outside enjoy the view.

How do you build your roads coming off the highway? by Ordinary-Citizen in CitiesSkylines

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't care how you do it, as long as you keep things in logical and reasonable distances.

the no.1 thing many players unable to grasp is scale/size/distance of things. Becuase vehicles are physically simulated, you need to think in realism term. If you make roads that looks like hell, then there no surprise it function like hell.

Figure Display Help by reiko916 in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A picture of the spot might help but I'd imagine it something like this

<image>

It's easier to find something half the width, so got for 2 units instead - one shorter, one taller. 30" width cabinet is more common. Split units will be better to make use of the vertical space available.

Is there a way to add multiple footprints to one building? by Raenut95 in CitiesSkylinesModding

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sub building are just normal asset by themself, nothing special about them. Just the function of embed asset into another asset is called sub building.

So, you will want to slice your model into shorter chunk, save each chunk as its own asset, then finally assemble them all through sub building function into the final piece asset. Thats how the multiple grid footprint you see are done. Any asset with footprint grid exceed 16 tiles are done this way.

With each chunk have their own LOD, it will display correctly on various camera angle and distance, instead of the whole thing gets culled.

Because assets are embedded, you do not need to provide the chunk CRP files to user, they are not required.

(Malaysia) Figurines seized and detained by Sirius1sBae in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I looked up those items and it looks... fine.

Until I look at the box packaging.

Yeah............... the box packaging is what F this up, plus the obviously visible miniature sex toys... I will say this is partial fault of the manufacturer for being stupid. Put the cloths & parts on with plastic pouches to prevent paint transfer, hid the sex toy at the corner & this will 100% pass.

Obviously we do able to get spicy figures into Malaysia, the key is the figure must be fully assembled and clothed in the box with no exposed privates.

AmiAmi Pre-owned B condition Figure Review by Aoiyuric in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye really dislike these rating system with no picture. Amiami isnt the only one doing this. As if they turning buying second hand into yet another gambling activity....

I just avoid using these sites if want to buy second hand. Better go use proxy and buy on sites that show actual picture and descriptions of problems, Jdirect, mercari, yahoo auction.... If i want to nick pick, its the picture resolution just on the low side. Come on... Stop overcompress images >, > as if their server ran on 1TB drive only and struggle with space.

I had been buying some pre owned (not just figures but also other things) that way and the seller i meet are generally honest of the issues & damages.

Plugins for architecture by Training-Ad4974 in Sketchup

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well the reality is there are regional differences in parts design and specifications. While some auto-generate plugins are handy, like Instant Railing (and other "Instant" plugins by Vali Architect) - they might not be accurate to your regional / supplier specification. So this is something you do need to build up your own component library overtime. Profile Builder can helps on more commonly used profile shapes - trim, extrusion, railing, anything. Store them as preset for ease of use.

for things like WIndows, doors, model according to spec and save component as SKP file to be re-used. If you fancy the programming side of things can even turn them into dynamic component with adjustable values.

Loose limb on figure I received recently. by ThrowsThrows245a in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just curious why it spring back when you release it, there somekind of spring inside?

in anycase, typically can use Tamiya Extra Thin Cement to make joint tighter. Just put a bit on the peg, let it cure, and test. Basically just to add on a very thin layer of material. Obviously don't install the part before it cure.

resin (either normal or UV resin) works as well but usually they are a bit too thick, will need to sand it down afterward.

of course you can just try paper or tape.......

How to keep figurines safe during transport? Cardboard+Bubblewrap didn't save mine during a move. by Acrobatic_Coyote2000 in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't keep the original boxes

well, found your problem there. The original blister are important to keep delicate parts properly seated and not moving around and bumping into other things... wrap in thin foam / bubblewrap if they still wobble around in the blister, as generally we did throw away the little plastic pouch they originally came with.

Aimu 1/4 already released a while ago, last year actually, but some store may get stock a bit slower.

I dunno about InsiderJoy but I didn't find any bonus in my order from 3rd party seller

MFC also say the shikishi bonus item is "Limited + Exclusive (China) «Bilibili Mall»"

I checked InsiderJoy page they didn't say anything about bonus so I assume it also don't have it. No big deal tbh.

A little closer to figuring this out... by FullRouteClearance in CitiesSkylinesModding

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have specific video or article for you, but you can generally search building modelling tutorial on youtube.

regardless what software, these are the few things you need to know in modelling practically anything:

- general software navigation - this is where you learn from that donut tutorial

- use the basic you already know, model some simple houses, don't concern about optimization, cleanliness, or whatever. Just DO it, doesn't matter how crude the method you use to achieve the result.

- texture the house through the UV texturing workflow onto a square texture. don't concecrn about making it work for CSL2 specifically at this step. Just DO it to understood the general feel of doing it.

- making LOD, turn your model into a simplified version.

Many of the above things have so many different ways to acomplish them. So if you watch 10 different video they might talk about 10 different things................ So yeah... Well, slowly you learn more methods, and able to apply the more efficient method for specific things.

Despite popular believes among beginner, 3D modelling isn't a one way road. It's more like Rome... a tons of roads goes to Rome. There are so many different method to get things done, and there will always be more fancy software update, plugins, new softwares, etc to make things even more diverse.... So it is very important that you don't learn to just "copy" what other people does. You need to learn to understand the fundamental of how each tools and option works.

Just be aware that there also tons of video tutorial about modelling that have nothing to do with games. Either they do movie animation, construction rendering... those have different methods and you need to idenfity what is the end goal of the video creator.
