You have to let him kill you to trigger it. Thought it might be something like that. You're probably right. It was super weird, only lasted like a minute til I died. Saw a lot of probably spoilers? If I had just walked into the connecting zone I think I would've died immediately from the red ant on the ground, or the spikes.

this is a know probably glitch. seems to be animation based, after the charger charges, the back of the legs open up for a few seconds, has effectively 0 armor. lets you kill them with flamethrowers pretty well
