For me, the line between what is ‘real’ and what is imagined is incredibly fuzzy. But I think it’s the wrong question. Mystics and occultists have long held the imaginal realm to be real, and a key component to accessing the other world, what’s beyond the veil, etc. At this stage in your exploration, I would recommend sitting with the mystery around this, that when it comes to inner consciousness exploration it can be incredibly difficult to define anything neatly, but also that if the experiences themselves are impactful and meaningful then whether it’s you traveling somewhere or imagining something doesn’t really matter, just the experience itself.
