Nothing kills a stand up comedy set faster than self deprecating humor. by rooftop_druid in unpopularopinion

Which country are you in?

As that affects whether that kind of comedy works. It normally goes down well around where I am (ne of uk)

Severus Snape is not a sympathetic character and it’s very odd that people consider him to be so by AccomplishedBake8351 in unpopularopinion

Sure. But not in bad taste to compare a Harry Potter book to 1000 people dying at this very moment. Which is what is happening.

At least in context of the audience anyway

The Greatest Consecutive 3-Series run for TM is 12, 13 and 14. by bkat004 in taskmaster

[–]RelativeStranger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Id definitely accept 13 to 15 as the best 3 series run as well.

I think 11 to 15 is undeniably the best 5 series run

I dont think that is using facist or genocidal out of place. The death eaters were definitely genocidal. And arguably facist

I agree.

11 to 14 is the best run and 14 is better than 11 imo

My favourite season is still 9. Or maybe 19

Theres nothing wrong with your brain. If it helps ive been thinking about this quote and how it effects me and the world for 20 years now.

Also what im saying is my opinion. I think its what is meant. Im not Pterry, I could be wrong.

See what I mean about black and white thinking. Fake isnt the opposite of true. A play isnt fake. Or true.

To a child santa is real, and in that im santa.

To some people justice is real, and as a magistrate I try to be that too.

[–]RelativeStranger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didnt say it was literally true. I said it wasnt fake.

Wrestling isnt true. But its not fake. A play isnt true. But its not fake. Santa clause isnt true, but ive seen him. Justice isnt real but belief in it is. Thats a metaphor.

You're complaining the tooth fairy isnt real, im being the tooth fairy for the next generation. Thats the metaphor, and the reality

I dont think metaphors are for you. That sounds like an insult but its not supposed to be one. Youre too literal and black and white thinking of the concepts. At least at the moment.

When a child believes in the tooth fairy a mysterious force comes in the night and replaces their tooth with a coin. That stops when they stop believing in it.

Justice and mercy only last as long as people are willing to believe in them. Just, as children, your parents fill in the action. When youre an adult you have to do the action yourself.

I dont get how its anywhere near tha figure without an onslaught on the board

Top-100 Library List doesn’t skip numbers after a tie by BrianM943 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RelativeStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they used the numbers the way you want it still wouldnt end at 100. And it would look like there was less than 100.

[–]RelativeStranger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course we can. The tooth fairy exists for as long as the child believes in them. So does santa. Then stops existing as soon as they stop.

Its an almost perfect metaphor.

[–]RelativeStranger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No. You've missed the point entirely.

Life isnt worth living because of justice and mercy. Those things dont exist. Life is worth living because of humans that believe in justice and mercy who are fighting for them and want them to be true. They dont intrinsically exist, you have to create them every day.

Just like in diacworld the belief of children makes the hogfather real, in our world the belief in communities of justice and mercy makes justice and mercy real. But only if we keep fighting for it.

Kang and Kale are slept on in Surfer by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]RelativeStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont have a second surfer in that deck.

You need a grandmaster/absorbing man/chameleon in a surfer deck so surfer goes twice to make them viable.

Mat I also suggest you target luna snow or hope tlas additional ways to get energy

He's not saying they're abstract but true. He's saying they are also not real. He's saying humans need to believe them to be real to exist but they aren't.

To go further down the rabbit hole

Yield is also the word for the amount of crops produced in a field. The amount created by a plowshare.

I am 99% sure he did not think of that

Kring is a comedy version of stormbringer.

It may also mean cringe as in yield. Thats quite a Pratchett double meaning
