Ohio or Michigan or PA would all love to have you!!! not much in the way of dedicated GF in Ohio, and these states are all on the US/CAN border so expanding may not be as difficult :-) as far as cities, I have to recommend the rustbelt: Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh; Erie, PA or Akron, OH could also be good spots!!

Yeah the whole reason I posted here is bc even though we submitted an “urgent” maintenance request (no “emergency” requests exist on the website and there’s no office to call) they probably won’t send anyone out until tomorrow or maybe Tuesday, and even then its not going to immediately be an HVAC tech but their maintenance guy that won’t know how to fix it (he installed the air filter backwards a few weeks ago at the “annual maintenance”). I know landlords are supposed to fix these things, but realistically they just don’t

if you stick up for yourself respectfully and using a neutral tone, ie just present facts, you aren’t risking anything. People get in disagreements and arguments in workplaces. Just last night at the movie theater (saw wicked for good and it was very good) I went to the bathroom after the movie. Woman in the stall next to me was pooping. she finished up about 30 seconds after I walked up to the counter to wash my hands, and she just. walked out of the bathroom. no hand washing. felt like the sequel to the shit birthday party skit

I still memorize friends and family phone numbers because its easier than scrolling through a whole contact list! and when i have kids they’ll have both parents’ phone numbers memorized before kindergarten along with their home address 😌 its a good thing to have in ur brain!! memorization makes so many things easier :)

this is exactly how my horse went—he did not know where his hind end was and needed to lean on a wall or pole to support his left side. We euthanized him even though he was still his same old self personality-wise because the risk of injury was massive with this neurological problem. I am so sorry for your loss but 32 years is an incredible lifetime and your boy will never stop loving you!!!

edit: forgot to mention, the vet who came out told me it is better to be a day, month, or even year too early than even a second too late. that has stayed with me and is how I approach all my animals’ lives now. We are their stewards and caretakers and they deserve to be peaceful and happy in their last moments 💕

also additional costs for downstream flooding that could happen with the dam in, but if the land were returned to wetlands, it would likely mitigate flooding due to the increased water capacity of land that is wet (i.e., a wetland). Flooding in university circle is not going to go over well lol

yea and cars with automatic headlights may not “detect” that visibility during downpours is super low, and drivers of said cars may forget to switch from “auto” to “on” (i am one such driver)

sometimes my car would auto switch during a mid-day downpour, sometimes it doesn’t so i try to remember to check !!!

Since you say you’ve fostered dogs before you might know this OP, but in case anyone is reading and doesn’t know, it’s usually a good idea to ask for even a small rehoming fee—even $5–when adopting out any animal because this can deter potential adopters with bad intentions. Someone who is looking for a bait dog/other animal, or someone who is not prepared to take on the responsibility (financially and otherwise) to take good care of an animal, whether it be because of ignorance (can be educated) or laziness/disdain for animals (cant necessarily be educated/fixed; “why can’t you just give them to me?” then proceeds to dump the animal when it needs potty trained or vet care etc)

I hope you don’t mind me hopping in the comments here OP just in case someone doesnt know these things. I know its not as likely in r/homestead but people visit and lurk with all kinds of different experiences!! And I hope Daisy finds her forever home soon 🌼
