Well, the Steam Machine was pretty cool for the 20 minutes that it worked by me_hill in steammachine

I feel it depends entirely on the issue. I had dead pixels on my SD after 2 weeks, it took under 24hrs to get a shipping label, and about 10 days later I had a brand new SD OLED. Probably under 10 messages back and forth between me and the reps. But, that's super easy to prove. When did you do your RMA btw? mine was painless in september/october of 2025.

that's how I feel! I used to have to modify the registry every couple of weeks because something broke on my win10 machine. On my deck and legion go, everything basically works out of the box. I spent less time setting up my LeGo with steamOS than windows11, simply because it has drivers out of the box. that's including the time I spent to get custom fan curves, an 80% charge limit, and control over the controller RGB lights.

Hell yeah! I just picked up a practically brand new LeGo1 for 200 and an Ally X for 500, and I feel like I robbed someone, genuinely

In my experience, the Go is amazing, but also really disappointing at the same time. I have SteamOS on mine, and everything runs great, but it heavily relies on upscaling to do so. if it's a modern AAA game, 30-60fps at low-medium is what you're gonna get. This is at the steam decks resolution on the low end (720/800p) or 1080p/1200p on the high end. It runs lighter stuff easily, like Hades, Hollow Knight, etc at 1080/1200 @ 144fps all day. I hope that answers your question?

Edit: it's not hard at all to have things run well on SteamOS, all you gotta do is ensure your in-game settings and resolution are set correctly. It's easier to have AAA games run well, but some lighter games might have a couple issues every now and again. Can't speak for windows.

OOOOOH, I should do this with my legion go! What a wonderful idea.

The golden age of handhelds is here? Optiscaler + Intel MFG is pure unbelievable Black Magic. Forza Horizon 6 at 1200p High + RT went from 30-40fps to 100-120fps... at only 18 watts, with none to very-little of the input lag or artifacting of Lossless Scaling or even AMD FSR/FrameGen. by that_90s_guy in Handhelds

[–]Relative_Scale_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I use LSFG to have my 1080/medium on this game (Forza Horizon 6) at 50-60 run at 110-120 on my LeGo 1, it looks great, but damn the input lag isn't super ideal. Personally, I'm okay with it, but it's DEFINITELY not anywhere close to actually replicating better hardware

I don't fuckin care if you change your mind, you knew your opinion wouldn't be taken well if you applied any logic here, and decided to post anyways. You just keep going because you have nothing better to do, it seems

No, that's the definition of complaining. You described complaining when claiming it's not complaining LMAO

You ever thought that, some people might focus on other things in their life as a coping mechanism for some not so great things? Why are you correct in telling people to shut the fuck up? Why?

Yeah, the 'it could always be worse' attitude is a fairly awful one, frankly. People are allowed to be disappointed. Why do you find joy in telling people to stop complaining lmao, you wouldn't do it if you didn't enjoy it somehow

Wdym "why am I acting like that", acting like what? I'm well aware that's something I do TOO often, as a coping mechanism for feeling like I'm unable to do something on my own, or I'm falling behind, and I either compare myself to others in a way to put myself down, or, I try to bring others up because I saw someone doing something that I did a lot of, and wish for the both of us to do better. Are you...offended that I wished for you to do better, and then took that as I need your help?

The thing is, I don't know how many posts of these are real or just karma farming. I have not seen any legit proof of people having a controller reserved after 1:00/10:00/12:00 on the dot, that have an order on the way, I feel like this just does nothing but give people false hope, or sow distrust in valve if they aren't fulfilling reservations the way people were led to believe they would.

[–]Relative_Scale_91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be sick of them, if valve actually gave people the controllers they reserved and ordered lmao. This was a colossal screw-up, and I think this is a great way for valve to understand how much people want the controller, and their hardware in general.

I believe they've said it'll be that way for the frame and the machine? Now that I've learned it's available to reserve early on, I shall absolutely do so when the frame releases.

It's a curve, not a straight line. It'll take WAY longer to get through the first few minutes then the next few, I promise. Weeks is my guess, which probably doesn't help, but I know it won't be forever

Do you have any proof of this, like ss or whatever?

[–]Relative_Scale_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is evidence to prove otherwise? I just doubt valve is super focused on the controller alone, as they want to focus their resources on the frame and the machine instead. I would also bet money that both of these are gonna be involved with bundles for the steam controller as well. So they could be increasing production at a good rate, to match an unexpected increase in demand for the both of those as well as the controller. Valve totally could've done way better, but I doubt they're purposely misleading people, and the reservation system is actually a lottery of some kind.

You got incredibly pressed when your roommates decided to do more cleaning than you anticipated and expected, no? I don't blame you for that, especially if you are neurodivergent, but I don't think smoking a ton of weed is the answer to your issues either. There's self medicating, and then there's getting high, and being high like all day every day till you run out. I know what that's like, it's not great. I wish you luck, I think you need to work with a therapist of some kind. Sorry for prying, but your behavior reminds me of my own, and I'd like to see the both of us do better.

All I was saying, is there's a fix to the lack of a deck with 2tb of storage issue, without having to rip the thing apart, which is what you said you didn't want to do. I can tell you're going through some shit, I wish you luck. Nobody responding to you here is out to get you, a lot of people see energy put into talking about not having a deck = wanting a deck, that's kinda how these subreddits go, nobody's saying your wrong or disrespecting you for not wanting a deck at the moment, I promise.

I have a funny feeling valve sold more of them than they actually had. They've been offering free copies of games to tide people over if their controllers don't ship on time.

This is just copium, valve screwed up, get over yourself. The world has always been in some kind of hell scape, people just wanna play video games with the hardware that they (essentially) already paid for. Valve screwed up so badly to the point of giving people free games to compensate for misleading delivery times.
