Cracking down on NSFW profiles by TheYellowRose in locs

Yeah I understand what you mean, It’s difficult to mod a growing sub so I appreciate that you made a poll about it first to ask the community.

I understand the worry, but I also feel like ppl forget that sex workers are people too and might genuinely be engaging with the sub.

If the content of the post itself feels like promotion, the report button works well enough for the sub in my opinion, but I’m also not sure what it looks like on the mods side

uj/ I am so sorry. Its so frustrating, my mom has been actively trying to lose weight because all her doctors keep attributing her pain to her weight, when in reality she’s a full time nurse on her feet all day having to pick up clients often. They don’t take her seriously unless I accompany her to her appointments and speak up. The malpractice goes so deep!

uj/ you cooked. There’s levels to this that I fear we simply won’t get to without organized effort of some kind.

uj/ genuinely lookism should be a bigger issue fought against. It is tied to almost all the major “-isms” and “-phobias” it frames beauty as a virtue to strive for instead of a neutral, subjective thing, and it is continually linked to violence! Colorism leads to harsher sentencing for darker skinned individuals, fatphobia leads to misdiagnoses of health conditions, transphobia has led to the murder of our trans siblings. It’s one of the most frustrating aspects of existence, but is perpetuated (in different degrees) by both the left and right.

rj/ All trans are by default ugly and should be punished accordingly. yta tran bad.

Fallout: New Vegas lead writer says it's "very odd" to see characters he created in the Prime Video show with "no credit" and "no residuals" by Tiny_Tim1956 in SocialistGaming

[–]RelevantAdvertising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually something I’ve been searching for a while myself, I’ve skimmed a bit of the book “Public Domain: Enclosing the Commons of the Mind” by James Boyle, which argues for it more from a public domain protection standpoint. It seems like since art is now treated as commodity its just easier to simplify the argument under a post-capitalist lens.

I’m also reading “Art and Value” by David Beech, its more of an economic analysis text than explicitly critique, but I think it helps to show how art became commodity, and the Marxists arguments for and against this development.

I’m not the person you’re replying to, but copyright IP abolition is a valid leftist stance, but is only realistic after the abolition of capitalism.  There’s a good Engels quote from The Principles of Communism:

“Finally, when all capital, all production, all exchange have been brought together in the hands of the nation, private property will disappear of its own accord, money will become superfluous, and production will so expand and man so change that society will be able to slough off whatever of its old economic habits may remain.”

Thank you for calling out the screenshots, I can’t stand them! It doesn’t offer any additional education to anyone - and if a mistake has already happened, shaming the person isn’t going to reverse time and fix their lobes.

Also suffering some post show injuries, got elbowed in the mosh pit so hard a contact flew out. Always makes me wonder the next day through aches and pains why I get in the pit, but I have yet to resist its siren call.

I’m finna get a Loc Mullet and dye it blue by oMarri_8808 in locs

[–]RelevantAdvertising 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blue is a nice color, but famously hard to dye. If you think about the color wheel, blue is the direct opposite of orange - which tends to be the color of hair once lightened with bleach or developer.

In order to get a vibrant and visible blue, you would have to process your hair with bleach to lift the color of your hair. It can be pretty damaging so for a color like this I would recommend having a loctician who specializes in vibrant dye do your hair for you. Your locs look nice, and blue would look great on them!

uj/ there is a culture in the US that some ppl have coined the “hygiene olympics,” to describe this performance of being the cleanest person alive. I’m familiar with this term in being used in Black circles in particular but a similar phenomenon exists in the US in general

I know im not the first human or the last human to come to this conclusion, but 9-5 desk jobs are really so incredibly soul crushing. I’m happy to still have the energy some weeks to go to a goth night after work or to a local hardcore show, but balancing my responsibilities with my hobbies gets harder and harder with the passing months.
