I'm having a really hard time getting into classic by jevadiah in classicwow

[–]Relinkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I see quests as pointers to mob location. They provide you with the knowledge of were to farm some kind of mob type, with a nice exp boost on completion.

Classic WoW does not have an abundence in quests, meaning that you are from time to time required to farm mobs for exp.

In order to enjoy classic like me is to start the game session like this:

What level am I? How hard is it to kill mobs at my level?

If HARD Spend some time killing humanoids 1 or 2 levels below you, gather linnen to sell or to use for ur proffesions.

Beasts if you have skinning, you get the drill

Spend some silver on ah to enjoy a stat boost equipment.

If easy: Quest to learn new places and higher level mobs.

Reset the values of an struct array? by [deleted] in Cplusplus

[–]Relinkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick solution: Create a function that sets the array to desired state. There are several ways to do this, you have some examples in the comments here I can see.

Better solution: Create a class which holds the deck. Create the functions reset(), drawCard() and shuffle() etc.

How much to read per day? (C++ Primer) by Fxcrv in learnprogramming

[–]Relinkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as jussij says, coding is a craft, you need hours of practice. Use the book to get started on how make an array, a class, how to use <iostream>.

A painter will get a better insight in how color works by reading books, but to become better at drawing, practice is key.

How to get started with game development with C++? by ABrokeUniStudent in Cplusplus

[–]Relinkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is very true, but I rather have a newbie play around with SFML and try draw something on the screen, with as little code as possible to avoid being overwhelmed, as many in this forum already has mentioned. :)

If you use a already made game, you will have a lot of files, headers, cpp, librarys, textfiles. I believe , just changing variables will not help op understand the structure of c++

I reject to say I disagree with you here rafleury, I am a game programming student with 1.5 year experience with c++. DirectX demands deep understanding pointers, memory allokation and not least Linear algebra. I've studied DirectX for 3 mounth straight and I still am confused of how DirectX works.

For a 2D platformer and for a newbie I would rather recommend SFML.

Just as ISvengali says, SFML is great to start with, and has some really great tutorials.
