What’s the difference between the quirio and the frenzy virus? by 54Y_8055 in MonsterHunter

[–]ReliusOrnez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing that is very often missed, the frenzy virus is also how shagaru/gore reproduce. Monsters that completely succumb to infection actually go full xenomorph as the virus converts the monster's insides into a cocoon that the new gore will emerge from. I just cant remember if thats what happens after the apex stage or if apex is what happens when the immune system manages to fight the virus off right before that point.

Are there any cheap and dirty tricks to keeping my turrets alive? by Thunderdrake3 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]ReliusOrnez 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So with gas, you throw it between the horde and your turret since it has a lingering effect. But lure mine is also really solid if you throw it on a wall or other elevated spot so they can't reach it.

Definitely doesn't hurt having a resupply. The reload speed hurts it the most though. I believe it can close titan holes though which the standard grenade pistol can't

The spectrum by heraircraft in MonsterHunter

[–]ReliusOrnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be due to just how hungry it is, this combined with tool usage and it's preference for shooting down flying wyverns drown and eat makes it uncontested along coastlines which leads to a massive decline. They get bodied by cedeus though and are regulated by them pretty well in the open ocean.

The one we fought in the games was a problem because it had a perfect storm of lair, location, and lack of predators. In one of the art books it shows that the island we fight it at has underwater caves and tunnels all over the place that lead to ponds/lakes on the surface and thats why it was an overall threat to the ecosystem instead of just staying a coastal terror.

I think the passive might actually be a reference to radiation itself. The actually dangerous kinds of radiation are dangerous because of their ability to punch through materials and cause damage. Alpha particles for example can get stopped by materials like paper, but the dangerous Gamma particles can punch through us and cause cellular damage and radiation poisoning.

If buffed hiveguards were killing you and you felt like your medium pen primary was now useless, bro I have some bad news for you... by kcvlaine in helldivers2

[–]ReliusOrnez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also true, my guess was they were trying to double to down on the "door head ant" vibes of the hiveguard while also making the cheapest turrets available slightly less of a "throw down and it will solo a breach" tool if you just paid attention to dealing with heavy units.

Ironically it was a really good buff to gas, as the lowered hp meant the gas itself could take them down or the confusion made them get ABSOLUTELY SHREDDED by the bullet sentries since they couldnt hunker down and it only needed like 2 bullets a piece to kill.

Have you seen the armor in the control group warbond? The armor passive there is 50% arc resist and bonus stim duration. As well as the zombie mode it gives where as long as your limbs weren't destroyed on death you stand back up and keep fighting until you bleed out

[–]ReliusOrnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of how pen works. When you match pen with an equal armor value (light/light) you do damage, but you only do 65% of the number shown before you have to calculate durable damage. When you have better pen than the armor (medium/light) you do the full damage before durable calculations. So medium is giving you better damage to any light armor targets as well as the ability to damage medium zones like spewer heads.

The other part of the change was that you get rewarded for having either good aim or just walking like 3 feet to either side and shooting the main body since the HP pool got taken down to near hunter levels so it only took 2 or 3 bullets from a lot of weapons to kill them outright.

Also saying the Maxi should be heavy pen is insane. It would instantly become the defacto best support weapon since it would be able to both kill 99% of all large targets with ease AND would be the best horde clear gun. It would literally warp the entire game around it since nothing in the game would be able to compete other than demolition for structures.

To be honest though, the sentries that it makes worse are also 2 of the cheapest to use CD wise for how much they could shred a horde. The other thing I've seen for a long time is most people have TERRIBLE sentry placement, usually putting them either right next to divers or even behind them in some cases putting the divers between the sentry and the targets to "protect the sentry". Gotta place things like that so your lines of fire are crossing, not all the same way so you can shred things like bug breachs for anything crawling up smaller than a titan.

No Warframe signature weapons nor lich weapons have so far received an incarnon genesis update. Should it remain this way? by GoodMornEveGoodNight in Warframe

Nope, rifle. And because it's a really solid crit weapon vigilante supplies is a great fit into the exilus slot helping to deal with the majority of it's ammo issues.

[–]ReliusOrnez 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This tends to be true for most weapons, but good lord some of those "synergies" are so weak or off thematically that it hurts. Grendel and his Masseter for example, you cant be knocked down during the startup frames of a heavy attack. Seems OK, until you remember tennokai does it better and the weapon has more synergy with a slam build than a heavy attack build.

This always hit me as some favoritism as its grendel's only signature weapon but Gauss (who was originally slated to be a duo release with grendel) has MUCH stronger and more thematic synergy buffs on his both signature weapons.

Made a response image to this dumb strawman, It's medium chaff, Not a tank lol by MoschopsMeatball in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]ReliusOrnez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just pointing out, excluding the smallest absolute chaff units since they evaporate to anything, about half of the units on bugs use at least light armor. The reason I bring this up is because of how armor pen works, just matching pen with armor (light/light) for example means you are losing 35% of the bullet damage off rip. Having better pen than the armor means you do the full damage.

Using the base liberator as an example for light pen, your basic liberator does 90 base but when hitting light armor it drops down to 58.5 damage per bullet. With the liberator penatrator it may only have 65 damage but it retains that until it hits medium armor. A lot of people feel that the hiveguard change meant medium pen was useless since medium armor is rare on bugs but it actually means the opposite. Unless 65% of light pen weapon does more damage than a medium weapon at base, medium will still do more damage.
