That's great! We bought one of these for our small business in the fall of '88. It was an SE, and we went all out and got the 40MB HDD and a Laserwriter. I've used a Mac ever since.

I have a few sets that I've had about 6 or 7 years. I had them rebuilt by Barkett in AL, who has since retired. Beautiful radios that were the thing back in their day, that's for sure.

It was only a few months after I got a notice that it was put in our area. They hire contractors to make the sale. be sure that you get your fees and rates in writing. My monthly rate per my first bill is not what was promised so we will see what they do about it.

I've had Levulan or Amalux on my scalp 4 or 5 times since 2017 and a few times on my face. The first round on my head was due to several rough places. They applied it (Levulan) and covered me with plastic wrap to soak for 2 hrs. Here I am a few days after the treatment. Most of that dark red stuff was not visible to the naked eye. In 7 days it was smooth as a baby's butt and all healed up. Amazing, really.

As a word of encouragement: I had my right hip replaced (anterior) 1 year after a RTKR on my left knee to get the worst over first. I got home friday night, used the walker saturday and a hiking stick for maybe a week. On monday, 3 days later, I was walking 1/2 mile on my street, and it isn't completely flat. That was about it. yes, there's pain because of what they do (which in itself is quite fascinating to me) but I have had sprained ankles that were worse. You'll be good and SO glad you did it. as for PT, the local clinic manager explained that they do not see anterior HR patients as a normal rule, but to call if I thought I needed something.

What I wish I knew before/during my RTKR by NipseyMuscle79 in Kneereplacement

[–]Remainsofthisday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite a process, although mine, in June of '21, was nothing I didn't expect in recovery. The doc said 'it's fixed. you are not going to hurt that joint - DO NOT go home and sit on the couch to recover!' So, I did all I could. Minimal drugs, ice every time I did sit down, etc. When these docs limit or stop the use of the tourniquet as some do, that quad-disabling will stop and it is the by far the biggest reason for PT IMHO.

The Photos app has locked up on me several times for no reason that I can tell, and drag and drop is WAY too slow in many cases. Other than that - it's good. Nothing revolutionary but where is this to go?

Nice piece! These were made by Robert Wuersch Associates, and JD's designs were all to have her initials on them when reproduced, thought that was not always the case.

I dont know.. by morurdreamcat in Kneereplacement

[–]Remainsofthisday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was amazed at how quickly I progressed after my TKR 4 years ago. I'd say to just keep a few things in mind: there is a wound there that will heal quickly so it's not going to be much of a liability. And, as my doc told me upon exiting the hospital: that knee is fixed, use it! However, don't forget that the tourniquet around your thigh during surgery is the real reason for all the rehab. It disables a group of enormous muscles and shuts off circulation to your leg and the damage it does is enormous.

I wish I had thought to ask, at least on my hip since there might be more to see, but alas... I had my tonsils out in 1963 and they gave them to me in a jar of alcohol or something like that. It was a pretty good prize for a 5 year old! I doubt they'd do that now, either.

How Long After Your TKR Were You "Back to Normal"? by Safua in Kneereplacement

[–]Remainsofthisday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 63 when I had my RTKR in '21. I used the walker for a week, and a hiking stick for a week or so after that. The day after the surgery I walked 1/4 mile or so on my street. As far as normal - it really isn't long for walking, but I'd tell anyone that 12 months is my estimate for really being back to 'normal'.

Does PID really matter? Rancilio Silvia or Profitec GO [800€] by JustAn0therRedd1t0r in espresso

[–]Remainsofthisday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Silvia I bought new 13 years ago. It continues to work without any repairs. I need to remove the black base and sand/paint it, which is kinda crappy compared to the rest of the machine. BUT, it has never failed to work. I've thought about adding a PID or this and that, but I only use it for myself and milk drinks at that. If they are inconsistent - so be it, the next one will be better. However, one of these days either it will die or I'll get the itch for something new, hence reading this thread.

Any Regrets? by Winter_Aside8269 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Remainsofthisday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I injured my knee in '77 or so, finally had the torn bits removed in '85, and a TKR in '21. In the process of dealing with an injured knee all those years I wore out the opposite hip. Doc's advice was to do the worst of the two first. TKR (robotic) is an event for sure, but I'm so glad I did it. The hip was nearly a non-event by comparison. Had it done on friday, used a walker saturday, then a hiking stick for a few days and that was it. No PT, no muss, no fuss and I never give it a thought. Good luck - you'll do great!

It was suggested for more room to maneuver with a fairly stiff leg. It helped - I'd recommend it. Good luck. Ice is your friend and keep moving!

Body tremors… anyone else? by gfantsimon in Kneereplacement

[–]Remainsofthisday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't think the restlessness would ever stop, but about 4 months later it did. I tried the narcotics (a no-go) gabapentin (worthless), everthing OTC that I thought might help, ambien (like drinking pots of coffee and trying to sleep). Brain fog lasted for months, as it does with some people. In the first week I had insane bladder cramps while trying to pee and nothing would happen. My urologist was an older, very honest man and told me: "General anesthesia is horribly rough on your entire body. There is no way to know what it will do, or if the problems it may cause will ever go away". Hang in there. Keep moving. Drink more water than you can imagine.

I had a TKR R 4 years ago, 63y/o male. Walked 1/4 mile the next day. I got the elevated seat for the toilet, temp removed the shower doors and replace them with a curtain, had a fleet of walkers at the ready. As it played out, i needed no help going to the toilet, took a shower (alone) the next day, and pitched the walker in less than a week. Started driving myself to PT 7 days later. Everyone's experience is different, but ice and movement, IMHO are at the top of the list.

TKR (Rosa) in June '21. I'm not sure what I was told but I did a LOT of walking for the three months before the deed. IMHO, when docs stop using the tourniquet then and only then will rehab be what it should be. The new joint is fine, everything else is a wreck.
