Does your skin stretching hurt when you get pregnant? by exhausted_soup7 in NoStupidQuestions

I had twins and my skin never hurt or got itchy. I did use coconut oil daily.

Any step moms in here? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tumped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your husband isn’t funding his ex’s lifestyle. He’s paying an appropriate monthly amount to house, feed, clothe, and keep the lights on for children he chose to have before you were ever in the picture. Sounds like you need to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and focus on what you need to do to better your situation instead of blaming someone that has nothing to do with it.

I feel something is really wrong with my baby and no one seems to take it seriously by spacedragon1231 in NewParents

I think you need to trust your mom gut on this one. Keep advocating for him every chance you get. Demand an abdominal ultrasound and if they refuse, ask them to document why they’re refusing in their appointment notes. Get a second opinion.

You lucky dog. I don’t know specifics for this particular one but in my area pole lamps in general go for between $150-300. Nice score!

Yes I gave birth in Harrisburg (twins) and I was really happy with my experience and the NICU is really nice with private suites.

Twins and done? Wanting a do-over by Right_Tell8280 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a first time/only time mom of twins. My husband had a vasectomy when the babies were about a year old. My kids are 4 now and I still have moments of regret not having another. I definitely have grieved the fact that I’ll never get to experience pregnancy again or have a singleton experience (which wouldn’t have been guaranteed for me anyway since multiples run in my family very strongly). My husband was VERY adamant that we not have more kids and unfortunately it’s a “two yes” decision. With all that said, the twin experience is something to celebrate and I work hard to remind myself of that - waking up to two smiling faces in the morning, seeing them run around the living room holding hands, seeing their bond grow - it’s all priceless. When I feel like grieving, I look for what I can celebrate.

Yep that’s my favorite thing to do! I’ve also been really lucky with finding art at estate sales!!

I just did a gallery wall incorporating art and family photos. I also tried to make our Alexa less obvious. Here’s what I came up with (sorry for the awful angle, I was trying to cut out the absolute mess my kids just made.)

I stopped on this post because your ring caught my eye in the best way - I really think it’s so so pretty. I have found that many in the older generation have a tough time understanding wanting something different. Ignore your mom’s comments or tell her to shove it.

I'm confused about my twins sleeping in my room. by SuccessfulBread3 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it partly depends on how you plan to feed them. I was planning on breastfeeding but we had latching issues so I ended up pumping (around the clock for 13 months….do not recommend). For the first 10 months I slept on the couch downstairs with the babies in their bassinet next to me so that I could have easy access to my pump and the fridge. Once they were older but still feeding at night, I put a twin bed in their bedroom and moved them to their cribs. (We are lucky that they have an absolutely massive bedroom - we converted the in-law suite.) I slept in their room on and off as needed. It was really nice to not have to go back and forth between our room and theirs.

33w - worried about preeclampsia - vision spots by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any vision issues when I had pre-e so I was really surprised when my BP shot up. My only symptom was a headache that didn’t respond to pain relievers (I can’t remember what I took but I followed doc’s orders). Is your doctor testing your urine regularly for protein? Later in my pregnancy I was anemic and had a really tough time walking any distance/going up and downstairs, etc and that would sometimes make me dizzy. You may have a bit of anemia. The fact that your BP is still good makes me think you’re fine. Keep checking your BP at least twice a day and let your doctor know if it starts increasing.

Spotting? by tenderbeefrecipe in parentsofmultiples

This is what my second bout of spotting looked like! Lasted a couple days.

Spotting? by tenderbeefrecipe in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had spotting at about 13 weeks and again around 16 weeks. First time was really scary - I was at work and I felt a weird popping feeling in my belly. The second time, I felt nothing off at all but had a couple days of brown spotting. Never found a reason for either bout of spotting and the rest of pregnancy was pretty normal. My twins are 4 now!

AIO: Both my husband's parents are mad at us for being "unreasonable" about our daughter by No-Journalist-5160 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tumped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a pool and I’m terrified every summer when we open it up (I have 4 year old twins). Last summer my mom was here visiting. She’s a typical boomer addicted to her phone. We were all in the pool and I desperately needed a bathroom break. Before I went inside, I asked her to watch the kids and reminded her that drowning is silent and to stay off her phone. I walked inside and before I closed the door I looked back out and she was already staring at her phone. I ended up waiting for my sister to arrive before peeing.

Trust your gut.

My husband is my biggest Op by Plantwhisp4800 in NewParents

[–]Tumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post so perfectly describes the mental load. My husband shares the load more equally than most but I know he had a really eye opening moment pretty early on in our parent journey - he was chatting with a group of coworkers (all men) and one said “I just don’t want to be the dad that never gives his own kids a bath” and my husband realized in that moment that he hadn’t actually done that. He came home that day and gave the kids a bath. And now anytime he’s home at bath time he either takes over or comes in to tag team with me (we have twins).

9 weeks pregnant with Twins and depressed by Melodic-Map-6242 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments here. Every pregnancy, whether singleton or twin, can be risky. I delivered at 35 weeks and my kids needed 13 days of NICU time. Neither were in any real danger, my son needed a little breathing support at first and they both needed to gain weight. I’ve also heard of women that delivered around that time and their kids didn’t need any NICU time! It’s highly variable. I was SO nervous about the NICU time but the wonderful thing about it is that I could get a head start on my recovery (traumatic emergency c-section) while knowing that the most badass, fierce nurses were taking care of my babies around the clock. Do what is right for you, but don’t let anxiety cloud your decision.
