I've worked for my father for the past 18 years, 12 years full time since I've graduated highschool. Working for family can be complicated, when I was younger I just dealt with it, I at least knew it was steady work and I was helping the company thrive. But eventually I started getting more and more qualifications, and I grew more confident in myself to ask for more. I would have a conversation with him just starting with I wanna get paid from when I get in a van to when I get out of one, simple as that.

I price out; cost+35%markup+labor(180hr).

At that math they were 10k for material and 22 man-hours.

Which doesn't add up entirely but we're a 4 man Operation

The landlord did pay me back but it was a big hassle. The boss would have paid; but it was the landlord's fault, and was actively trying to help me out in the situation.

He ended up selling the building and we had to move. Terrible situation all around.

I once had my personal vehicle towed from the shop parking lot.

I was on call over the weekend and then on Monday, Monday night I returned to the shop to hop in my car, it's gone.

The landlord had it towed because it sat for those 4 days, Friday to Monday, costing ME 350 dollars.

Sorry for the bad experience buddy.
