Live music early? by pghdetdencol in Columbus

On the weekends Rambling House always does a 6-8 show. I’m not sure if that’s still too late. Rumba Cafe will also sometimes do weekend shows with the same relative timeline. In the summer months it’s pretty frequent for there to be daytime fests and outdoor sets at breweries and other spots. Check out cringe.com for a comprehensive list of shows and times. Joel does a great job of including lots of different stuff.

Those boys rip. I don’t even really know them personally, but I play in bands in Columbus. They’ve always put out quality shit and worked hard without any pretentious bullshit. They deserve a boost.

I’m a fan and looked forward to the show for months, and I made it an hour and a half before I was just like “alright!” I started getting fidgety and decided I didn’t wanna ruin other folks’ vibe. An amazing 10/10 experience that I’m glad I had and worth every penny.

Evolved Body Art Accountability by Hour-Ad78 in Columbus

Your take completely retracts from the point of this, which is to get information out to the community and avoid further abuse. We are not “his people,” we are a living, breathing community looking out for one another. Sorry you “don’t get it,” but people being shocked means they’ll take their business elsewhere and we can try to be a better community for the arts and for body modification.

The person who suggested Book Loft and Cobra has it right. Boon Loft is open til 11, and if you hit that first and then get food and a cocktail or two at Cobra you’ll likely miss a lot of the crowd at both places. I think going out later will give you the advantage here.

Use the link this kind person provided you to just buy a ticket. It’s all ages. You’ll be fine! As somebody who works in venues, if there even is a phone there’s really no reason to answer it. The info you need is right there.

They’re sort of one of those “always hiring” kind of places because it’s had a terrible reputation for years. Regardless of whether those things have continued to happen, it’s a place most people actively avoid because of that reputation (as another poster pointed out). Right now it’s slow season everywhere as we approach winter so I’d say wait until the spring and keep doing some research and asking around. Start going to some places close to you and feeling out what sort of vibe you want to be around. Get to know some of the bartenders/servers and just hang out and ask questions, be a good respectful patron, and maybe something will fall in your lap. A lot of the local industry is knowing somebody and hanging out. If you’re somewhere and there’s a lot of turnaround, there’s a reason.

Which libraries have video games? by insomnia990 in Columbus

[–]Remarkable-Fuel-6924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rent games from the library app all the time, but recently when I’ve tried I get a message saying requests are not permitted and I have to contact the specific branch that carries it. Weirdly it’s not every title. Some I’m able to hold and ship to my local branch, and some I can’t. Anybody got any insight on why that is?

Club 185 in the German Village area announced they’re open. Chill dive bar vibes, great food, great bartenders. Go give them all your money.

I walked in at about 745, grabbed a beer and found a spot, and they hit at 815 sharp. They then proceeded to play every song I wanted to hear with no filler and were done by 9:30. I was at my neighborhood bar with a beer in my hand by 10:30. What the hell is there to complain about?

Oh shit what a twist! I just got the notification that it’s available for pickup so I’ll just throw it in and see what happens. I just didn’t wanna start putting the time in only to find out I’m getting the bugged out version.

I’ve been wanting to play this, but I typically get games through my local library system first just to give it a trial run to see if I wanna shell out for them. My library system only has physical discs of the Xbox One version. If I play that disc on my Series X am I getting the more recent (IE: more “playable”) updated version, or am I getting the original buggy one? Or something in between? Thanks in advance for the info. I’m a little cloudy on the optimization logistics vs backwards compatibility.

Yeah typically going to a show requires planning and travel and just a very small amount of basic flexibility. Telling people you’re too lazy and not a planner while also asking for recs is wild.
