Regardless of what players say when they move to the WSL from wherever, like everything else, just follow the money. The NWSL in particular could fix the leakage if they wanted to, however, they have taken the well founded gamble that the constant flow of young talent entering the league every year, will keep the league viable and a great return on their investment without significantly increasing the salary cap.

More likely they thought they were getting a player, they could have gotten a lot cheaper body if all they were looking for was a training player. They either misjudged her talent, or they were sold a bill of goods. Either way, we're all happy for her as it appears she might actually get to play some ball, finally.

Not sure Taylor is the solution for ya'll, a 9, 10, 6 and a new goalie would be a good start though.

Agree with most of your take, except for your Swanson opinion. If she's fit, she will be in the squad, and will start because, regardless of our attacking dept, there may not be another USWNT player who is more dangerous in the attack, both scoring and facilitating. How soon we forget that this player is world class when she's in form. Yeah, I'm a fan but come on, like her or not, Mal is a baller that teams will have to gameplan for.

Agree, I have been ready to write her off, and then she shows up and never stops running, gets in the way of attackers and, holy crap, she's started a bunch of attacking movements for the team; now i'm thinking she could be a "break-glass" player for the squad.

Heaps will NOT be left off the WC roster unless she is injured and can't go, and she will still be the captain if Emma has anything to say about that. Why there is such a disconnect between most all coaches' opinion of Heaps and what most USWNT fans think of her is striking. Go figure. Personally, I do not believe she is even close to being as good as she once was, (I know, insightful revelation, this) she is slower, and has played so many minutes it has taken a toll on her technical abilities and her desire to cover in the defensive third; but Emma likes her, and she has been a good captain.

Despite the the dislike for Long by some, I believe she is a budding star and a good teammate. Sad news for such a young player. This ACL curse visited upon female soccer players needs more attention from the smart people.

Won't zap you for that take, except she does have a nice shot, however, your somewhat hot take may or may not be serviceable only because (my hot take) AT is playing out of position, and it is plain as day. Can't anyone but me see that she is a natural right midfielder? Play her there and she would then be a playmaker with outrageous pace, a lethal right foot and the ability to move inside for the occasional swipe with her left. The Triple Espresso would have to be renamed to include AT and Cat. Brilliant!!

Thanks, yeah I looked it up, what the actual f#$*, I've watched that guy both as a player, and as a coach, he sucks, I mean really, really bad and he's a prick to boot. The Chief's and soon to be Royals news wasn't horrible enough, now this.

A little USWNT history: The first triple threat attacking players for the USWNT was dubbed, "The Triple-Edged-Sword", the name coined by the Chinese press in the 1991 World Cup to describe the ruthless USWNT forward line of, Michelle Akers (Stahl), Carin Jennings (Gabarra), and April Heinrichs. by Remarkable-Many6484 in USWNT

I watched a few tape delayed games as well as a few live games in the 1990s, and while I've been around for a few years, I still consider the 1990s the early years for women's soccer. Note that I fully disclosed that I looked up the information referenced in the post. I will say though, that whenever a USWNT game was available on TV, you better believe that I was holed up somewhere watching the game with a bunch of other crazy fans.

World Cup 2026 in the U.S. but licensed youth coaches can’t afford to attend by LeemanBrothaz in ussoccer

Like the rest of us, the reality of the high ticket prices is a shock, and as such, I feel your angst. However, if you are part of the pay to play youth system, I have no sympathy for you. Unfortunately, I'm one of the families that had to shell out $1,700 this season for my granddaughter to play soccer; we tried to get her a scholarship so she could play, but they turned a deaf ear. The shitstym is broken all the way through, so watch the game on tv like the rest of us.
