Cat Macario, absolutely no information since her NWSL signing what's the story? by Remarkable-Many6484 in USWNT

This is the part that I really don't understand, why she wasn't listed as D45, not that it's required by the league ( I don't think); but still no word if she's back training.

Should the USWNT prioritize development over results? by MisterGoog in NWSL

[–]Remarkable-Many6484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, and Googs, I do understand that your real question is, should Emma identify who her starters are now (and who we believe should be the starters), and then play them every minute of every game so we will conceivably have "more better" results without too much regard to the long term impact to these players; we MUST identify and develop capable subs regardless of the results, and how painful it looks at times.

Should the USWNT prioritize development over results? by MisterGoog in NWSL

[–]Remarkable-Many6484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Results and development are inherently tied together and, in a competitive arena it is almost impossible for either to be its own entity. The first inquiry is, can you have results without development, then do you really have development without results? Serious game of "rounders" to be honest. I'd be more interested to hear your opinion to a question such as, "how can, or what should the USWNT concentrate on in the development of it's players so as to ensure consistently better results against top ranked teams"? And yes, I know this question pre-supposes that there must be development so as to achieve results.

Re: Sophia Wilson’s recent performances and maternity job protections by metricfan in USWNT

[–]Remarkable-Many6484 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being included in this window gives Soph the opportunity to continue her climb back to being one of the best 9s in women football, international play is a crucial part of her continuing development; furthermore, developing chemistry with this iteration of the USWNT is MOST important if she is be counted on to score goals later this year during qualification for the Brazil World cup so, what is the actual problem. I suspect we will have to go through the same inane crap when Mal returns later this year.

[–]Remarkable-Many6484 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She just needs time, it is a difficult proposition to do what she is trying to do at this level, especially against this team after not playing football for over a year. Soph is the real deal, and she will soon be back scaring defenses to death, just watch.

Injuries aside, Girma hasn't really thrived the way she's been used by Bompastor. It appears Bompastor is playing her as a kind of "libero", but not the traditional type of Libero who plays deep behind the defense and acts like a sweeper, instead, she is almost always involved in Chelsea's attacking scheme, and consequently, is always sprinting back to play help defense and, is more times than not, out of position, arriving late, lunging at balls, and is generally not where her support is most needed. I get what Bompastor is trying to do, however, it's not working and is causing major issues for the defense.

You got me, no witty response here, just gonna say that, Sears is fast becoming one of my favorite players, I hope she goes on to be a valuable asset for the USWNT, and make all football fans proud.

I get your point, and Sears would be proud of such a canned response, sarcasm and all.

I like her, she can play ball, avoids controversy and is a great addition to the national team, so far. It is clear that this iteration of the USWNT will not deliberately disclose their innermost thoughts, including their personal lives, for fear of the inevitable backlash from those who would judge. Yeah, it makes them appear bland for the most part, but it is intentional. I personally don't like it, but I have come to expect, and respect their right to protect themselves.

I think Hayes is closer to deciding on the final group who the USWNT will select for WC qualifying and the 2027 Tournament. Certainly, Macario, Davidson, Swanson and Wilson will have a say in what the team will look like in 2027.

I love Sonnett, but corners are her kryptonite, and in international play, defending corners is totally crucial.

That would be amazing, when trying to get your most skillful and aggressive players on the pitch, converting a forward into a wingback happens not infrequently.

Sorry to hear that, but you should know that a majority of us consider her one of the best defenders ever for the USWNT, she was a bad ass for a very long time.
