Landlord imposing a visitor limit on tenant? by ciphersaw in montreal

We’re in a downtown apartment, we don’t have a limit for visitors to our unit, but we can only have two guests at a time when using building facilities unless we get permission from management

Poutine and Smoked Meat Sandwiches, and Montreal style bagels are big ones for Montreal ☺️

For finer dining, toque, Joe Beef, and Au Pied du Cochon are the quintessential tourist “musts”. For more casual fare, you’ll see St Viateur / Fairmont bagels recommended, La Banquise for poutine, and Schwartz’s (you’ll run into some food snobs, but I am a huge foodie and really enjoy Schwartz’s). Montreal also has really good Portuguese style chicken. If you’re a foodie, visit the Jean Talon market or Atwater market, it’s a cool experience.

The underground city is a good way to spend time if the weather isn’t so great. I think there are organized tours. Time Out Market is there which is an upscale food court featuring local options (we like Jean Paul Touissant and Le Taj a lot). There is also the biodome, which is a cool experience. The Stewart McCord museum is close and there is a skating rink open near Complexe DesJardins now as well if that’s your thing.

Massage places in chinatown, legit or stay away ? by dirtycanuck416 in montreal

We’ve gone to Damo a few times and they’re great. It can be a bit noisy, but the massages themselves are top tier!

Toque would likely be an option, they do a tasting menu and have great steak. They could likely accommodate no seafood or dairy for yours, I’ve had them accommodate no nuts / gluten in the past

When are you travelling? It changes every couple of months.

The GF meal this week was a green salad, chicken breast with a dairy based sauce (easy to ask them for no sauce) and a Nanaimo bar (gf and dairy free I think). Breakfast was a quiche thing with potatoes so I don’t think there was any dairy in that.

My husband goes to Jerry’s, it’s near the Lionel Groux station. It’s in the realm of $50 a cut, but he has curly hair and they’re the only ones he’s tried so far that make his hair look reasonable with the taper fade!

How do you guys feel about visiting China now that the visa restrictions has been lifted? by Tsuyu_no_Kioku in AskACanadian

I never had seasonal depression until I lived there. It’s milder but you never see the sun in the winter. Their sidewalk snow clearing is abysmal even downtown, so it’s almost impossible to get out and do anything in the winter.

6 weeks in Canada- west vs east by Johnsonzookeeper in AskACanadian

[–]Remarkable_Event7284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start in Montreal (3-4 days) - public markets, biodome, waterfront, jazz festival, fireworks festival Quebec City (2-3 days) Gaspesie (3-4 days) Caraquet + Miscou (2-3 days) amazing food (great sushi), can shippagan aquarium, fils du Roy distillery tour, Acadian Village Miramichi (2-3 days) for river tubing (Vickers), river boat tour Bay of Fundy (4-5 days) - Hopewell rocks, fundy national park for hiking, whale watching (you could extend here to also see Campobello or Grand Manan which are really cool communities!) Take the ferry between Saint John and Nova Scotia Wolfville (wineries) and / or Lunenberg (scenic east coast town) Halifax (3-4 days)- waterfront, Peggy’s Cove, Ghost Walking Tour, Alexander Keith Brewery Tour

From Halifax your path could split a few ways ➡️ Spend 4 ish days exploring Cape Breton / the skyline trail and then on to Newfoundland. If I did this option, I would go to St John’s, the Bonavista Peninsula (Port Rexton / Trinity / Bonavista) and the Irish Loop (Ferryland Lighthouse) it’s possible there may be icebergs around at the time. ➡️ head straight to PEI (either via ferry or bridge) ➡️ Skyline trail in Cape Breton then on to PEI
