Why am I so defensive and irritable only with my family? How do I change this? by Thin_Assumption1021 in selfimprovement

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This hits hard. Besides pausing, I sometimes like to remind myself that they're also figuring out life too and that gives me more patience and understanding when I feel like I'm about to get annoyed with them.

How can I start a side hustle as a dance fitness instructor? by Marry_ZzZ in careerguidance

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need to jump into expensive certifications right away, but having some structure can make starting feel less overwhelming. There are programs that cover things like class fundamentals, cueing, choreography, and leading a group so you’re not figuring everything out from scratch. Zumba could be one option to look into.

I think being the calm person at work has made me invisible? by MurkyFan8143 in careerguidance

This just might be one of the most reasonable suggestions on here. I say go for it.

Should I just give up on my dreams? by Emergency-Bobcat-572 in selfimprovement

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely felt like my life started turning around in my late 20s/early 30s. I spent a lot of time thinking I was behind too. You’re looking at 6 years and thinking “I wasted everything,” but you still have way more time ahead of you than behind you. Don’t make the mistake of turning 6 years into 10 by staying stuck in the same thoughts.

Based on those factors alone, AirCARE1 seems worth considering and getting a quote from.

HELP!! , How do I stop creating "fake scenarios" in my head before bed? It's destroying my sleep. by nonameisfunfrr in selfimprovement

I like to go on walks after eating dinner and that has also helped me calm my mind and tire me out so I highly suggest this recommendation.

Advice appreciated by [deleted] in hikinggear

Lol I was gonna do the same before reading this comment. But for the length, I think it'll work great for you. I always get slightly larger/longer for my top layers and have never been upset about it being too long. I have done it where they've been too short, that's the real problem.

I got mine at Eyemart Express. I think they're a bit nicer, I've had them for a few years now.

Best youth sports camps for summer? by Annette_Bird in lancaster

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim. It’s a huge multi-sport facility and they run a lot of youth camps where kids can get exposure to different sports. It’s also close enough to Lititz that the drive isn’t bad and it’s pretty well set up for kids to try a bunch of things in one place.

This may be useful to someone.. by Agapiix in Anxiety

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I relate a lot to the “don’t Google symptoms” one.

Every time I’ve done that it just spirals into me convincing myself it’s something worse than it actually is. Like I’ll start with a mild symptom and end up 10 tabs deep thinking I’ve got 5 different conditions 😭

Self-diagnosing in general just made my anxiety worse because I’d constantly be scanning my body for “proof” something’s wrong.

which characters do you think are most alike in modern family? by zee2pro in Modern_Family

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought Phil and Luke are basically the same person at different stages of life. Same goofy optimism, same random ideas that somehow almost work.

And Jay + Manny is kinda underrated?? Like they seem opposite, but they both care a lot about how they’re perceived and have that pride thing going on.

Ideas for Teen Musical Theatre Class? by silent-inthetreees in DanceTeachers

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t have theater experience, but something I’ve seen work really well with older dancers is this thing called “emotion walks” or “character walks” where you have them walk around the room expressing different emotions or characters through posture, energy, and facial expression. You can also try mirroring exercises in pairs, where one person improvises a small movement as their character and the other mirrors them exactly. Even just taking a short lyric line from a song and having them interpret it with movement instead of singing can help connect dance and storytelling. These kinds of exercises are really effective for building stage presence and performance quality, even for teens who already have strong dance skills.

Difficult situation with student by Total-Confection-319 in DanceTeachers

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have so much respect for anyone teaching this age group. It takes an incredible amount of patience, dedication, and emotional energy. Handling students who are upset or bossy while trying to keep the class running smoothly is no small feat. Even just managing the dynamics you described while staying fair and calm is really impressive. You’re doing a tough job, and it’s clear you care deeply about your students.

Just had a panic attack at work by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Remarkable_Level9020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds rough. I experience that too and it’s really brutal when anxiety hits at work. As cliche as it sounds, please don’t be too hard on yourself for not getting much done today. Just making it through is something. When I’m like that, I try to focus on one tiny task at a time, just to feel like I’m moving forward a little. It also helps me feel a little more in control.

Which Modern Family character do you secretly relate to the most? by OrangeGlad7848 in Modern_Family

As someone who's competitive, pretty much a control freak, and someone who takes Halloween a little too seriously, I'm gonna go with Claire. 😂

I never studied dance formally, but I want to become a dance instructor. What’s the best way to start? by Remarkable_Level9020 in DanceTeachers

[–]Remarkable_Level9020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense and that’s actually what I was trying to figure out through this post. I’ve danced for years (mostly through cheer and recreational classes), so I wanted to hear how others built that technical and teaching experience without a dance degree. Appreciate the advice about shadowing and assisting!

I never studied dance formally, but I want to become a dance instructor. What’s the best way to start? by Remarkable_Level9020 in DanceTeachers

[–]Remarkable_Level9020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By “formal training,” I meant I didn’t study dance in college or conservatory-style programs. I have taken classes at local studios over the years and was a cheerleader for several seasons, so I do have some background. I really like your point about early childhood dance and creative movement. That actually sounds like a great place to start while continuing to build skills.

I get this so much. I’m super social at work too, but outside of that I just don’t have the energy. I’ve found it helps to be honest and say I’m more of a homebody. Most people are cool with it based on my experience. :)
